Meaghan of the Charley Project reminded me of this case by posting recently on her blog about Teresa Marie Barbusca, a 5' 1", 100-lb Caucasian female 16-year-old who disappeared from the Sacramento–Stockton region in 1999. I've had Miss Barbusca filed with Sacramento Jane Doe for a while, long enough that I think there was a specific reason I never posted her here, but I can't remember what it was :), so here she is.

The biodata and circumstances are consistent enough. To my (not very able) eyes, there is a gross facial resemblance between the sketch of SJD and Miss Barbusca's photo. Beyond that, I notice that Miss Barbusca's smile might have shadowy gaps; SJD had all of her bicuspids removed.

However: the NamUs entries say that both SJD and Miss Barbusca have DNA samples available. If they are of consistent type and quality (not guaranteed), they ought to have already indicated a possible match or rule-out. Also, there is no dental information for Miss Barbusca, while SJD's teeth have the bicuspid extractions and other evidence of orthodontic prep. Furthermore, I'm not sure that the closeup image of SJD's teeth closely matches what I can see of Miss Barbusca's smile. I would call these facts 2 strikes against the match, but not a total rule-out.

I lived in Sacramento when this happened. I'm sure a missing teen from Stockton would have been eliminated from the start. This was big news when it happened. The local news stations served the region including Stockton and both cities' papers were "Bees"(I'm assuming both McClatchy) It was all over the news for weeks.
 
This body was completely charred, yes? How much can that affect the height and weight estimates?

I ask because the teeth... they are reminding me of a missing person from 1997 in CA - I knew her personally, and she had really nice teeth like those in recon. This particular person is taller at 5'7" to 5'8" though.
 
The unidentified woman's height is listed as 5'0" to 5'6", which means they only have an approximation. Your person would be only an inch or two taller than the top of the range, so I would say it's possible.

Kristen was a taller girl, 5'8", and was around 140 lbs. She wasn't "skinny" but was in shape, athletic. She disappeared from San Fran in June '97. For a variety of reasons, there has always been suspicion she was killed or trafficked. If the latter, that could certainly place her in the position of this UID. I remember two distinct things about Kristen: her dimples and her teeth. Gorgeous smile on that girl. I find it tough to believe she hasn't been compared to this UID and excluded, just because her case was so high-profile and relatively close to Sacramento. I see our UID was missing bicuspids, so the dentals alone should be easy to compare. I also wonder if the "Structure" jeans were of a particular size? I'd guess Kristen to have been a size 8 or so... whereas most articles for this UID suggest she was "petite" - Kristen looked great, but her height would not make her petite.

The age is in range. Kristen was 18 I think when she disappeared in '97, making her 22 or so at the time this UID was found.

I'm probably way off on this, but I've made it my "hobby" to seek UIDs who may fit Kristen's profile and look into it further as she is the only person I've know who has gone missing.

I like this match. I've followed this case for years as I live in SF. Would love to see closure.
 
I'm new at this, so do you just write the case contacts on NAMUS and say, "hey, I'm an amateur at Websleuths. Saw posting for a UID and the teeth reminded me of a missing person I knew in HS. Wondering if this UID has been compared to her?"
 
My guess due to the "perfect" teeth is- she was the relative of an older male who was either pimping her out and/or abusing her himself, and he killed her before she could run away and live independently. The broken nose makes me think this as well. BTW Medi-Cal was paying for both sealants and (sometimes) orthodontics at this time so she might have not been rich, just eligible for these services.

Detectives in Sacramento should be asking people who were part of the street scene in the early 2000s if they noticed someone like her suddenly go missing, or if a pimp/creep was bragging about killing one of his girls. (Some of them do.)

Due to the location where she was dumped I feel she may be local.

Pimps don't take good care of their prostitutes. From my understanding, the JD has good oral care for some time. How many prostitutes have excellent teeth?
 
She might have been pimped for short time, or pimped only to select high paying customers/pedophiles. Those sorts of customers will pay higher prices for underaged girls that are good looking.

I also made an assumption about the teeth because orthodontics treatment takes a long time...the killer might have been expecting a "payoff" from the victim in continued work, and killed her violently when she did something like a) try to run away b) got pregnant from someone else or c) threatened to expose him.

In reality I do not know not even if the height and the weight correspond, but the likeness is truly a lot; invitation someone of you to signal this to someone of the police in order to make the relative assessments, I do not speak very highly English and I'm not American and living in Italy.

Coroner lists victim's height between 5'0" and 5'1/2"
NAMUS lists height at 5'3"
DOE Network lists height between 5'0" and 5'6"

I have been assuming the coroner's height when looking for MP, also assuming late teens/early 20's as coroner's report says. Broken nose keyword does not yield significant results on NAMUS. Victim is NOT Atinui Kevorkian, age 19, missing since 12/21/00 from Pasadena, California. http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/3172dfca.html
I've been looking at the case on and off for over a year. Can't wrap my head around the fact that this person was alive when put in the dumpster, yet dead and forgotten when the fire department showed up.
 
I think if this victim often. It is so strange to me that she still has yet to be identified :(
