Parents of missing Fresno woman speak out as they search for answers
''FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — It's now been a week since a Fresno woman vanished after a trip to the store.
Samantha "Sam" Tomlinson's friends have passed out flyers and posted to social media.
Sam's parents, Christie and Robert Tomlinson say connecting with local law enforcement agencies has been frustrating as they search for answers to their
daughter's sudden disappearance.
"Everybody involved, just keep us informed. I mean it would be nice just to say, 'Nothing came up today,' rather than just, you know, have us sit here thinking -- not sleeping at night thinking about it. I mean I don't know how much sleep I've had," said Robert. "Just better communication, I think. you know? I think they're might be a disconnect between departments. I know the Sheriffs are more inclined to handle the mountains, where the police department is inclined to handle the city."
The couple believes the Fresno police detective assigned to their daughter's case is overloaded with other missing persons reports.

"That was so frustrating because they don't work on the weekends and they're just overloaded," said Christie. "I was told they only have five detectives and our guy has 20 cases alone. They're just overloaded."
The family says their nature-loving daughter enjoys the great outdoors but would never leave her animals behind including a dog, three cats, and a horse which is currently at a ranch in Sanger.
"She tends to go up when things are bothering her. She likes her space," said Robert. "She likes the mountains, but she usually takes her dog with her. She loves the outdoors and she loves animals. That's where we think she might be. But indications are that maybe she's not."
The 37-year-old
went missing on Friday, Dec. 3rd after returning an item at Costco on Blackstone at Herndon in Fresno.
At this point, police do not suspect foul play.
"The video they took from the parking lot they said there was no mischievous behavior, which meant that no one was around her at the time she got to her car," said Robert. "But who knows if someone wasn't maybe laying down in the back seat and they couldn't see that person."
"I texted her 'I love you' and she texted me, 'I love you,' and that was the last -- that was the last we had any communication," said Christie.
If you have any information about the whereabouts of Sam Tomlinson, please call the Fresno Police Department at (559) 621-7000.''
