Except when adrenaline is high. You often don't feel the pain. I've experienced that myself, full-out running on gravel barefoot in an emergency. It's like the pain signals do not reach your brain or are blocked by fear or adrenaline. I once ran barefoot through thistles and thorns to catch my two dogs who had gotten out and were on the side of a busy highway. I didn't feel the pain at all until I got them home. Then it hit me, and was time to pull thorns out of my feet and be the biggest wimp about it.That's a pretty long, fast stride for someone running barefoot across a road and parking lot...one small piece of gravel on that asphalt, and I'd be shorted up immediately, (especially if coming down on it on my heel). Hard to tell about shoes or not in the videotape images.
