Things can heal in three weeks but....if anything dramatic was wrong they would not release her.

Wouldn't the reward go to the person that stopped for her on the road or called LE about finding a missing woman?

Or was it too late since the Wednesday deadline was missed by 4 1/2 hours?

Possible sighting 11-22 (Tues) in Anderson, CA "Travel Center" (gas station) Anderson, CA is not far (20 mi?) from Mountain Gate. Just putting it out there. She was discovered Thurs 11-24.

Anderson, CA is also directly off the I-5, the same as Redding, Mountain Gate, and the Yolo county location where she was discovered.

I found it from the comments section (I know, the comments!) of this article, which the text of Sheila Koester's Press Conference yesterday, 11/25. http://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2016...held-by-sherri-papinis-sister-sheila-koester/

I saw that last night when the thread was closed. Very odd.

I have to admit, I thought that a family statement would have been sufficient if there was no intention to give further information in a Q&A session. But that's JMO.

IMO she should not have taken questions. She could have just read the statement and walked off. I understand some are frustrated because she is not able to comment on the police investigation. I think she did a good job not revealing anything if there are things she knows she has been asked by LE not to make public. It's a fine line to walk being a public spokesperson and I know would not have been able to stand up there 6 months pregnant and handle all the questions. So on the basis of that, I won't criticize her answers/non-answers to the many things we would like to know. :moo:

Thanks. I was sent home from the hospital in very bad shape. I live alone and did not have anyone to help, I'm 76 years old and was kinda shocked. That is how it is these days though.

Yeah,

I agree. Healthcare is *so* expensive these days. Tom Besenko stated many times that she was "treated and released." The "beaten" theory I don't subscribe to...

I state this as a former E.R. employee. the first press conference was 2pm on Thankgiving day and Bosenko stated she was "treated and released" I've seen people sit in a bed in the E.R. Dept for 8 hours. https://www.facebook.com/Shasta-County-Sheriffs-Office-1527637610823075/?hc_ref=PAGES_TIMELINE

Sure, perhaps she has priority since it was such a big case, but she arrived at, say, 5am to the hospital...to be out *for sure* by the 2pm press conference Thanksgiving Day is actually pretty good...as far as E.R. wait times. Again, I've seen people sit in a bed in the E.R. for 8 hours.

If she didn't do an interview, how many people would hyper critique her and the rest of the family for their inaction. Funny how it turns out she/they are hyper critiqued anyway. Go figure.

Giving a statement is 1 thing. But taking on 20 questions that you plan to basically say no comment to; Is just plain not needed. Jmo

This has probably been discussed before but can anyone recall another case where reward money had an expiration deadline? Can't put my finger on exactly why, but it adds to my hunch that LE has known considerably more than they're letting on for quite some time .

I understand that but we do not have a typical case here. We have an extremely high profile case of a missing mom who after 3 weeks is found. I'm really thinking that hospital protocol of "treat 'em and street 'em" applies here. If anything, they would be overly cautious. This is just my opinion, severely beaten in medical lingo does not allow for a treat and release in my neck of the woods and in my experience, that's all Im saying.
I've been part of a high profile case. They are extra careful, and give you different, more private treatment in the hospital. But I just don't see them keeping her if she was stable. Anyway, this is just based on my personal experiences, and having family members who are medical providers in hospitals. I just can't see them keeping her, here in California. Not without a specific issue that needed to be addressed. If you are stable, you go home, and follow up with your regular doctor or a specialist.

My point is, the length of stay in the hospital does not tell us much about the severity of an assault.

Agree - I don't blame her for the evasiveness. I assume LE said it would be a good idea to do it and told her exactly what (not) to say.

This may have been pointed out already, but if so, I missed it here. In the interview with the Sheriff on the sidebar to the right http://abcnews.go.com/US/investigation-sherri-papinis-disappearance/story?id=43777131, he states, 'One of the captors had dropped her off on a rural road…'

Here the Sheriff didn’t say it was the two women who dropped her off. First that I had heard or read of that. So from what we know thus far, she was abducted by the two women and one person dropped her off.

To comment on my own comment...

Modern medicine is all about *not getting sued* If a patient arrives with a head injury ---> send them to C.T. scan. Multiple tests are run. Not always necessary but it's on the patient's dime (or at least, their insurance), so why not? It's better than getting sued later because the doctor "missed something"

I predict, in a couple of days, the family will ask for privacy and we'll never hear another word about this case.

But that's my point my lovely gardening friend ;-)

Why did she stand up there at all? They could've released the statement through a spokesperson or through LE, or even on the FB page or through the media. It seemed an odd waste of time, almost.

I'm not saying this indicates anything by the way; I'm not sure it really does. I just found it another oddity amongst a thousand others.

Each oddity can be explained away one by one by one. But...... how many oddities should there be before this becomes altogether too odd? That's the stage I'm at with it all. I understand that each thing I find odd can be explained in some way, but why am I finding so many things odd?

It's all just... well, odd! I hope it just turns out that I'm a sceptic who needs to have more faith! :)

Well if we want to speculate if she was kidnapped for ransom, we would need to first determine if she was wealthy. Kidnappers don't kidnap someone not wealthy for ransom. And before we go down the sex trafficking road, again, sex trafficking typically involves the "unwanted"... not women who's families would aggressively search for them.

I want to interject here and throw in my 2 cents and I may be way off the mark. In regards to the sisters statement. I think she despised having to give one at all. I think she went ahead and said look I'm 6 months pregnant so tread lightly bc my hormones make me over emotional. I'm doing this bc I got roped into it for our family. I think she's even feeling a little put out bc she doesn't have the answers she was hoping for either. I'm even wondering if she's seen Sherri for more than a few minutes. She was unaware of any of the details and that made her the perfect family spokesperson for this particular Q&A. She could get up there say thank you on their behalf and when asked those questions be genuinely unable to answer them bc she does not have all of the details. I feel like Sherri & Keith asked her specifically to handle it for them. JMO

I believe so.
I saw an announcement there last night, giving a specific time they would be shutting it down and thanking everyone for their help. I'm paraphrasing here. The page said that there are still several people missing from the Redding area and to please continue to help on other missing cases on the (I think) the NorCal Missing Persons page.

After 48 hours...The captors may or may not have been hispanic. She may or may not have known her captors. Still no motive. What is the public supposed to think? Should locals be on high alert because it was random? Or was she specifically targeted. If she's not even sure what race they were, then was she blindfolded the whole time during the abduction, 3 week ordeal and drop off? More information would be wonderful for 1.) public's safety and 2.) would quiet down the speculation. I understand SP has been through a traumatic ordeal, but I'm sure she has been interviewed further by police by now. Why are they asking the public's help to find "two [potentially] hispanic women in a dark SUV" and not releasing anymore clarification or details?

Maybe the family wanted Sheila to speak in person to make the statement more personal (rather than cold and impersonal). I don't know.

HI all--- a big part of this case has been the reward and then the ransom and also the ----
so, has anyone seen if any of that $$ has been converted to a reward for tips leading to the apprehension of the assailants that abducted and held (at a minimum, there may have been other criminal acts involved like assault) SP for 3 weeks?

just thinking such a reward may be beneficial to solve this and ensure the same perpetrators do not do this to anyone else.
