Here's the deal. You can put the name of the RSO on here because they are an RSO and you are allowed to sleuth RSOs, as long as they are not harrassed because that is against the law. However, do we know for sure that this RSO is related to Sierra? Think about it. The family is devastated enough without the added stress of something going viral about the dad or step dad being an RSO when he is not. Don't let that start on Websleuths if it's not true. :nono:

:tos:

BUMP.

Unless we can PROVE and know FOR SURE that this RSO is related, please be very careful. As Kimster said, yes, we can talk about RSOs. But we don't need to be accusing (even indirectly) someone in Sierra's family of being an RSO if they have no relation.

Let's not jump to conclusions here. We need facts. With links.

WOW. So he IS an RSO. wow....that makes me nervous.

Wow, they just recapped her story on my local news...and I live in CT!!! Prayers that today she is found.

11 p.m. Update:
Late Monday night, ABC7 learned that Sierra's father, Steve LaMar, is a registered sex offender who lives in Fremont. He is listed under Megan's Law and was convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14, stemming from a case a number of years ago. We don't know if this detail has anything to do with this missing person case. LaMar claims he is innocent in the disappearance of his daughter.

"She was in an optimistic mood," Marlene Lamar said about her daughter. "She was very cheerful. She wished me a good day at work. I told her I loved her before she left for school."

I thought that her mom did not see her leave for school? Her mom went to work before Sierra left the house to go to the bus stop. It is odd that this is another quote where it implies that the mom was in the home when Sierra went to the bus stop.

Maybe she texted her or spoke on the phone with her? Anyone else confused?

It is also unclear to me how the morning ACTUALLY transpired...it seems to me that mom went to work before Sierra left the home to go to school...but there seems to be some ambiguity. :waitasec:

This morning, Morgan Hill police will continue talking to registered sex offenders in the area - as their search for missing teen, Sierra Lamar, intensifies.

Meantime, ABC News has learned that Sierra's father, Steve LaMar, is a registered sex offender who lives in Fremont. He is listed under Megan's Law and was convicted of lewd and lascivious acts with a girl under the age of 14, stemming from a case in 2005. The girl came forward in 2007 and he was convicted. LaMar claims he is innocent in the disappearance of his daughter and police do not consider him a suspect.

"I spoke to her on Thursday night. She sounded real good. She was excited about a paper she was writing and she was telling me about that," said Steve LaMar.

There are 55 registered sex offenders in the Morgan Hill zip code alone under Megan's Law. The sexual assault unit is talking to those people as well as others in South San Jose to make sure that no one on that list is a possible suspect in Sierra's disappearance.

I wonder, do any other kids get on at her stop? 10 minutes to wait for the bus gives a very narrow window for someone just happening by to take her. Maybe she was stalked? On another note, any info. given about mom's bf?

All GOOD questions, PMLsmom.
Mom's BF????
Just to rule out individuals, I would think this would be addressed.

A longer version of this aired on our local news last night:

"If she would ever run away from Morgan Hill, she would come to Fremont because she knows this place," her best friend.

They unfortunately seemed to cut another interesting piece of info: One of her friend mentions that she planned on visiting Fremont this past weekend. She had made a card for one of her friends and was going to give it to her when she visited. The same best friend quoted above said it didn't make any sense that she would run away since she wanted so badly to see her friends and show off the card.

I wish I could find the full-length version of this clip! Argh.

Authorities say they found the cellphone of 15-year-old Sierra LaMar, a missing California teenager, late Saturday night on the side of a road about a mile away from her home in Morgan Hills, Calif. Public information officer Sgt. Jose Cordoza of the Santa Clara Sheriff’s Office said search and rescue personnel found the phone turned off, and they are doing a forensic search for more clues. The charger for the cellphone was found in her room at home.

Sgt. Cordoza told ABC News they have suspended their search in the areas near her home, and people will no longer be going out due to a lack of evidence. They are focusing their attention on students at both her current high school and the previous school she attended in Freemont.

“We have exhausted our search efforts in that area. We have investigators talking to kids hoping they can lead us in the right direction as far as where she could be. We are looking for any information, period,” he said.

If the dogs lost her scent at the end of her driveway,as has been mentioned, then she was very likely picked up by a vehicle at that point. I don't believe she tossed that expensive phone either. Wonder if she was picked up, offered a ride, by a family friend, someone she knew slightly and trusted ? MOO

Okay. So it IS her phone that was found. Correct?

Now, why no info about mom's boyfriend yet? Was he home that morning? What time does he leave for work?

That is what I think happened. It also might have been an older group of 'friends.' She was new to the neighborhood, so she may not have known who to stay away from.

I just saw that the OTHER Sierra that was missing has just been found SAFE. She had run away but called in to LE to say she was okay. :woohoo: One down safe, one to go.
