I'm with you about the Safeway - and believed LE should have checked it out with cadaver dogs...
Perhaps I've seen too many ID crime shows in which victims were disposed of dumpsters that a perp had access/familiarity with because it was where he worked...
But is quick disposal really what a wants? Don't like being morbid - but thinking about perps who preserve there victims using a refrigerators they have in a storage unit somewhere...

You have made an important point here OldSteve. There are 2 or 3? other attacks near/attacks he has been associated to? Not sure on the numbers, but know there are others. These are the ones we KNOW about. How many other attacks or near hits did he make that haven't been connected to him? How often has this miscreant traveled out of the area? I'd check those locations he visited for similar crimes/missing women/unsolved murders/rapes. And, as I've said before, I hope we can study this worm so we can get a better understanding of what makes these villians tick.

He had not worked at Safeway in quite a while, right? So how is he accessing their butcher tools, walk-ins, etc.?

I think this Safeway/Sierra idea is getting a bit carried away. He seemed to have used Safeway as a stalking/attack locale, but he did not need to do that with Sierra. I do not believe he has any special "bond" with Safeway...

Thank you I agree the Safeway thing was getting stale

I haven't been back here for some time now; you mean they haven't found her body yet? Wow.... Did he have hours to dispose of her or do you think this was a fast thing? I know he was married but what kind of time frame did he have? From the pictures I have seen it looks like there are so many place he could have dumped her and it would take months or years to cover the whole area. HOpe someone finds her soon.

No, she has not been found. And it does not appear he worked at a regular job and may have been supposed to have gone fishing that day. So he may have had all day to dispose of her body. I agree, she may never be found. Although if they have the car on tape when the bag was left near the shed, they may have a timestamp on it, so they may have an idea of how long he was out of the area with Sierra before leaving the bag, if it was done later, for instance, so that may give them a range.

He may simply have been lucky in where he left her body.

I just got done reading an article by Ann Rule in which the victim was actually found in someone's backyard... two years after she disappeared. Granted, it was a large lot (one and a half acres) and the back property line was covered in blackberry brambles.

The victim's remains were found when the property owner decided to get rid of the blackberry brambles. In the Pacific northwest, the brambles are so thick that a dog can't get through them, let alone a human being.

My guess is that AGT left her body somewhere that is difficult or nearly impossible for a human to reach on foot. When I look at maps of the area, it seems to me that there are lots of places that fit that description.

Especially in Morgan Hill. It's country terrain, and has lots of farms and industrial type operations. As you might have seen in one of my past posts, I was very frustrated by the approach of the search party I participated in. It seemed the goal was to move as quickly as possibly to cover as much territory as possible, vs. searching an area thoroughly. If the approach I witnessed is standard, she could have been overlooked 100,000 times over. I still think she is in Uvas, or another body of water close by. I don't think LE would have invested all that time and resource if they didn't have a very solid lead.
I also believe with all my heart she will be found. Let's pray so.

This is a somewhat morbid question so I really hope I don't offend anyone but at this point in time, do you think they are searching for a body or remains? I would imagine it's been quite a long time since she passed so I don't know what's left of her? In addition, if there are only remains how will they be able to prove that she had been sexually molested?

On a side note, I have faith that she will be found and continue to pray for her family daily.

As you know, thevineyarder, A.G.-T. is not charged with molesting nor raping Sierra LaMar. Murder & kidnap are eligible for the ultimate penalty, so there was no need to delay charges so as to add other crimes, if evidence was discovered that A.G.-T. did more.

I researched this question when I pondered it myself related to another case. In that situation, human remains had been found and I was wondering if it could possibly be the person in question, based on the state of the remains. (It was - Mike Grefner, missing D.J. from Whistler, B.C.). There are so many factors such as the environment where the body rests, temperature, etc. If you want to study those factors and how they effect the process, there is alot of information online. All that said, it's amazing how science today enables us to identify people via DNA sample. Even with very little to work with in some cases. As far as determining cause of death and other offenses committed, yes, even with remains that have rested for awhile, that can be determined. Again, that information can all be found online. Out of sensitivity, I won't detail it here, but suffice it to say that science and technology provide this in most cases.

It all depends on where she was left. Depending on the environment, her body could be down to bones only, mummified (completely or partially--I remember one case where the body had partially washed out of a sandy grave and was half bones, half mummified), or in some stage of slow decomposition.

It isn't necessary for the current charges to prove that she was sexually assaulted; the current charges could result in either the death penalty or life in prison without parole. Can't really add much to that in the way of punishment.

If they find only bones, they won't be able to prove via DNA that she was raped. They may infer it if she was left in the classic rape position. If parts of her body are more complete than just bones, there's a chance they could find his DNA.

Keep in mind that it's not unusual for rapists to be unable to ejaculate during the act of rape. This is quite dangerous for the victim because it increases the likelihood of the rapist lashing out in rage at the victim. In such a case, there would be no semen to find, even in a perfectly preserved body. There might be epithelial cells, though.

If I am correct about the type of rapist that AGT is, then I think it's likely he killed her impulsively in a fit of rage.

Bless you for trying, roses. Without people like you, there would be very little hope of recovery at all.

What you described is not unusual for search parties. When an experienced search coordinator maps out what areas have been searched, they indicate what type of search it was.

The most thorough searches are those that have the searchers on their hands and knees, shoulder to shoulder, crawling slowly over the given territory and flagging anything that does not belong to the natural environment. As I'm sure you can imagine, such searches are very slow and very hard on the searchers. Nice as it would be to carry out every search that way, it just isn't practical.

It's understood that foot searches are not as thorough and that there's often an attitude of "let's get'er done here." Whoever is doing the mapping will take that into consideration when they plot out where to send the next set of searchers.

That's why it's not unusual for a given area to be searched more than once.

I wish someone would make a tape for volunteer searchers to watch before searching for the first time. The tape would be about 15 to 20 minutes long and would show just how easily something the size of a human body can be hidden in various types of environments. And at the end, it would show bones in various states of exposure because people tend to think of bones as always being white (they're not).

In my ideal world, the cost of making the tape would be funded by nonprofits and would be distributed free to any LE or search organisation that requested it. It would be professionally produced and shot in HD, so that it would look as realistic as possible.

Actually, in my ideal world, there would be 4 or 5 versions of the tape, showing different environments. That way, when a search is needed, the coordinator could request the tape(s) that fit the environment to be searched.

This is the best, most productive suggestion I have read in this forum.
PLEASE forward your suggestion to the Klaas Foundation. I believe they have the resources to make it happen. Alternatively, you might ask that nice young man who made the documentary about the Search for Sierra (last name Garcia coincidentally) to make it, and give it to the Klaas foundation.
Regardless, your suggestion is brilliant, and could make a HUGE difference in search results.

Thank you! <BLUSH>

I've sent an email to KlaasKids (it was tough finding an email address for them!). If they say they don't think they can do it, then I will try the documentary maker. Since this is email, I can just keep pitching until someone agrees to catch!

I am disabled and no longer able to train dogs or search, so this is a way I can still help. Thank you for pointing it out.
