If you drive there, you will be shocked at how wide open the area is. I will never understand why she was out there by herself each day. I must assume that there are parents who never think or read about dangers and think everything is just good in the world. That is my only explanation....good people always thinking good thoughts.

Well said! I've only seen video, whereas you've actually been there - but even from just watching video of the area I was left haunting feeling of vulnerability.

So... October... I hope so, her family deserves to lay her to rest. And GarciaTorres deserves to rot. He has been a time bomb, and would have gotten more victims if they hadn't caught him.

DP is LWOP in California. He'll die of old age before he is executed. The last time I checked there were 618 inmates on death row. That has to be a record. He knows this and he isn't going to talk. I also think this plays into the jurors mindset and they don't mind giving the DP because they will never have to witness it.

ETA: They now have 727 on death row...FGS!

The hearing is scheduled for 1:30 pm local time. I am sure there will be information released by our local news stations.
