...after media reports of #SierraLaMar's phone being found by side of road on Scheller.

Kaho initially thought it was a drunk driver. She didn't see any sign of #SierraLaMar Or of the driver. She might have reported it...

The car she saw was initially pulled over near where #SierraLaMar's phone was found, then pulled out & was weaving.
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport 40m40 minutes ago
...the morning #SierraLaMar vanished. DA David Boyd on cross suggests driver of car cd have been weaving b/c she/he on cell, e.g. texting

Back in #SierraLaMar trial. A woman named Tiean Kaho is on stand. Defense called her b/c she saw a light brown & gold car weaving..

From my acquaintance who went to trial and went last week that Danny Fernandez - the guy who was on the stand today lied on the stand
Defense try to imply that Sierra is still alive and maybe human trafficked but the judge wouldn't allow that in because of speculation
Also defense wanted to bring in expert on crime lab who is going to try to say that bias occured with DNA but will wait and see approach because PDA Bicka Barlow wasn't there

Lied about what, specifically?

So, no court yesterday (Friday)?

I didn't get any kind of Google Alert on anything....

TIA!

Okay - went and found an article that was printed on March 30th, but updated for Friday, March 31st.
http://www.mercurynews.com/2017/03/...-key-evidence-or-prior-attempted-kidnappings/

Prosecutor David Boyd suggested that there are other reasons why the strands of hair were not visible in the crime-scene photo, including the wide aperture of the camera.
To demonstrate his point, he showed the jury eight different photographs of the same rural scene taken using different aperture settings. The foreground was in focus in some, while the background was blurry.
[.....]
Stutchman disagreed that the aperture could change the clarity of images of the rope photo, saying it was different than the rural scene Boyd featured.
But Stutchman’s response to a written question from one of the jurors could be interpreted as supporting the prosecution’s theory.
The juror wanted to know whether Stutchman could read part of the label on a bag of cat food, also removed from Garcia-Torres’ trunk and shown in the photo of the rope.
The image was too fuzzy for Stutchman to make out, which he attributed to the glare off the bag from the lighting.
[.....]
On Thursday, Jaquez testified he found a taped-up package of batteries on a discount shelf at the Tennant Avenue Safeway in Morgan Hill in 2013 — about seven months after the store changed its policy. However, the jury may conclude from the testimony that Garcia-Torres may have been familiar with retaping packages of batteries because the practice may have gone on in March 2016, about four months before the policy officially changed.

Those are the only items that were "new" to me!

Danny was his best friend..... Danny or his family? Liked to repair cars, spray cars, from memory he also worked for a Caravan Refit out place...lot of paint work..

Also have zome fuzzy memory of an Uncle that ran an outta the way place bar in Texas.... and some fuzzy memory of the vehicle (red jetta) possibly being seen out that way.....ohhh...before we all learned they already had the Jetta in custody...

Will try to find the link...

Sorry...have tried to find link....may have been removed?

But it was an interview with sgt Cardoza when they were out searching Andersons Creek... this was before "We" the public became aware that they actually had the red Jetta in Custody....

Remember the few days when the media/LE made it sound like they were looking for it...

Cardoza.....from my memory said witnesses had seen the car as far away as Texas...

Wish someone else remembered....

So, no court yesterday (Friday)?

I didn't get any kind of Google Alert on anything....

TIA!
There has never been court on Fridays in this case

So, is the DT almost done, and we'll have closing arguments soon??

Lopez zooms in on first pic of rope ( no hair) shows no distortion, no hair. #SierraLaMar

On re-cross by Lopez, expert says the 8 photos DA showed are not same scenario. #SierraLaMar

#SierraLaMar -- Defense photo expert claims he doesn't know how much he earned for analysis/testifying.
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
DA also points out hair cd have shifted to different parts of the rope while packaged up in evidence bag & in transit. #SierraLaMar
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
DA: photo taken in April (hair not visible) was taken inside on "sunny" setting. So u can't see things of similar color=hair. #SierraLaMar
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
DA made smart move -- showed jury 8 photos of trees taken w/ varying apertures, some very blurry. #SierraLaMar
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
Hair could have been on rope, just not visible. In crime lab photo, narrower aperture shows more. #SierraLaMar
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
DA: sheriff's pic of rope was brighter -- wider aperture -- AND therefore less in focus. Hair cda been there.
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
No hair on the knot in the rope on April 9, 2012 hair. Crime lab photo taken later shows hair. #SierraLaMar

Yet crime lab found 58 hairs, including 1 of #SierraLaMar'S (hers based on DNA from root of the hair). Defense had suggested hair got ...

"I did not find the presence of hair," Stutchman says of photo taken shortly after #SierraLaMar disappeared.
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
DA says can't see #sierralamar hair in sheriff's photo because of resolution, among other reasons. But Stutchman will testify otherwise.
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
He will testify re whether rope found in Def trunk had any hair on it or not, based on photo. 1 strand of #SierraLaMar hair on rope.

Defense forensic analyst with expertise in photographs, video & audio -- Gregg (cq) Stutchman-- takes stand. #SierraLaMar

Not sure what difference that makes. If 3-volt reshelved, why not 9-volt. #SierraLaMar
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
Boyd also notes taped package from discount shelf in 2013 at Tennant store was 3-volt battery, not 9-volt. #SierraLaMar
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
Seems like Boyd is questioning how common such taped packages were, suggesting it's extremely rare. #SierraLaMar
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
On cross by DA Boyd, investigator says he went to 2 Morgan Hill Safeway stores more than dozen to see if packages open. #SierraLaMar
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
He able to buy a taped battery package in Oct. 2016. Seems to confirm plausible explanation for how print on battery possibly. #SierraLaMar
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
Def investigator also went to store again & found at least 1 re-taped battery pack on the battery shelf ( not discount shelf).#SierraLaMar
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
A Safeway Mgr testified for DA that chain policy was torn battery packages wd be thrown out or returned to manufacturer. #SierraLaMar
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
This substantiates defense statement that Def fingerprint got on stun gun battery b/c he taped up/re-shelved batteries. #SierraLaMar
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
It was on the bottom shelf of the discount shelves in back of store. Was only one taped up. #SierraLaMar
tracey kaplan‏Verified account@tkaplanreport Mar 30
The 3-volt battery was 50% off. He tried to buy it but there was a prob at register w bar code. Def shows photos of it. #SierraLaMar

Mocity I can't believe it too thid reporter is biased

I couldn't believe what I was reading here.

This doesn't surprise me. The defense has tried to throw any ridiculous 'alternate universe' theory out there in hopes of creating a shadow of a doubt for the jury. Running away naked, with no money, no makeup, no keys, no cell phone, and no life-saving inhaler and never being seen again just so her 'Christian' mom who was living in sin with her boyfriend didn't find out she was gay...That one takes the cake for lunacy.

Wow, yep, defense lawyers will throw any old spaghetti to the wall in hopes it will stick. Just hope the jury gets it right with the evidence the state has.

Well, I was going to post that article! Unbelievable....

You're right Karinna - Wow, yep, defense lawyers will throw any old spaghetti to the wall in hopes it will stick.

Hope this jury uses their common sense!

JUSTICE FOR SIERRA!!

Mention of her wanting to run away doesn't counter the overwhelming evidence sadly the her young life was taken...
