Sierra is frozen in time. I have in the past checked in on her friends social media and seen them grow up, as my own daughter has caught up to Sierra's age. We got a glimpse into Sierra's life via her social media, which is probably what kept my attention on this case, I felt like I got to know her just a little bit.

And so we got to know Antolin and will we find anything that mitigates what he did to Sierra? To me what we learn is that he has had both the nurturing and nature that means he should never be trusted to be free around those vulnerable to his size and sexual desires. Perhaps having a girlfriend sated him for a brief period, but his true desire is to subjugate and destroy. So who really cares why he is like he is, he doesn't get to do that again and so whatever best achieves that is fine with me. Thankfully, he picked the wrong victim the first time he killed (I hope it was the first) and many more women have been spared.

Regarding Post 52

I have to wonder if he was contemplating suicide.

He seems the type to off himself because he cant do the time for his crime.

True - I had a relative in jail at the same time GT was there, and he said this guy was REALLY scared!! GOOD!!!

#SierraMar: Prosecution urges death sentence while defense calls for mercy

I'm pretty sure GT did NOT show Sierra any mercy.....

Omg.

California and their Fake Death Sentence Again.

Good grief.

Scott Peterson and others on Deathrow ain't never going to get the California needle.

Because California rarely utilizes the D.P.

So why ask for it.

Imo. Just ask for life without parole in solitary confinement. Jmo

It may seem like just a formality, asking for a death sentence that may never be carried out. Truth is, laws change. I think they want the DP because if the law once again allows executions to go forth, they'll have the jury's verdict on the record. Appeals will take years and if he sits on Death Row until all appeals are exhausted who knows, the climate may have shifted back to where death sentences actually mean something.

I am not a DP proponent although I do think it is appropriate for some crimes. California law dictates what is appropriate and AGT's crimes meet the legal requirements. So the state figures why not go the whole nine yards, given what is true today might not be a year from now, or five, or ten.

I do not think DP in Cali will stay in suspended animation forever. It will make a comeback because voters have spoken on this issue and they want these sentences carried out. The DP will either be happening again at some point or it will be abolished by law. The state just wants to be ready for what may come in the future and they are still hoping for information to find Sierra, information that only AGT can provide. With LWOP he is locked up forever with no chance of freedom and that offers little to no incentive for him to talk.

All JMO.

Less chance of getting a parole with DP. Even though LWOP is without parole, paroles do happen with LWOP.
Flip side of it is, with LWOP he'd be exposed to general prison population and would be exposed to getting beat up, since a child killer is the lowest..... all IMO..

Do LWOP inmates actually get paroled? I was not aware of that! and am definitely not in favor of it.

There needs to be truth in sentencing because without it our justice system is a joke.

Those are inmates with a life sentence with parole.

I want to know how often a LWOP sentence is ignored and the perp set free.

I remember the McDuff case in Texas; Kenneth McDuff received three death sentences but was set free from Death Row to go on to torture, rape and murder again. He got another death sentence that was eventually carried out. He had been let out due to prison over-crowding.

I think life with parole in any jurisdiction is very likely to be released for that same reason, but I hope and pray they are not just letting LWOP inmates go free--for any reason.

In my mind it’s simple. #SierraLaMar killer committed the ultimate crime, therefore he deserves the ultimate penalty. Death 2 child killers.

Good. The jury will be very aware that HE had no sympathy whatsoever when HE kidnapped, raped, (imo) and murdered Sierra who was a 15 year old vulnerable, and petite young girl.

He thinks the jury will fall for all of this bull. They will not. By then he had already tried to kidnap three women because he was a sexual predator even back then imo. That will not be lost on the jury either.

He and Lopez must think the jury is dumber than dirt to even bring this up. All it will show them is he preyed upon unsuspecting females without one ounce of compassion. He sure wasn't supportive of any of them now was he? It showed his true colors and how he really thinks about women he wanted to sexually victimize.

Does anyone know "what" time this afternoon the jury comes back?

TIA!

LWOP all served in solitary...I'm for it!

But I doubt it's an option under CA law. I don't think anyone can be in solitary confinement unless there is good cause and us wanting his sentence to be harsh is not a legal definition of good cause.

What matters to me is that this murderer never sets foot outside a prison again. He is dangerous and I am convinced that predators of his nature never change unless it is to become even more of a threat.
