The first link said she was missing a tooth, I didnt see any in the video (or photographs of the jaw/skull) that were missing :(

Yea I didnt see any teeth missing either. Her teeth look nice and straight, like she cared for them.

We will just have to wait until they have the reconstruction done

I was going though things just because and I think that she looks like the girl
Its one of those photos that the police are looking to identify to see if she is still alive or not...

She really resembles her!

Another thing bothering me... The article I posted the link to goes on to say police are looking into the Zodiac for her murder. Wasnt the Zodiac more open about his crimes? I mean, this poor girl was stabbed and they tried to make it so she couldnt be identified... IMO doesnt sound like the Zodiac...

Air & Shannie - you guys are doing a great job!

Question?

Does the JD's hair look almost an Auburn color? Or is the fact it is an older picture and has that "sepia/orange" tone to it?

I believe its actually a auburn/red color and not the sepia thing going on.

I didn't see a thread for this already. She was Doe Network # 613UFCA. RIP Mary Alice Willey.

Thirty-seven years after the battered body of a woman was found in a Central Valley canal, Stanislaus County sheriff's investigators said today that they finally have a name for the victim: Mary Alice Willey, 23, of San Francisco.

Her body was found Sept. 11, 1971, in the Delta-Mendota Canal near Westley. She had numerous injuries to her face, neck, hands and upper body.

She remained unidentified and the homicide investigation grew cold.

Thank you for the update. I have this girl on my myspace page. I am so glad that I can move her to the identified section.

This is great that she was finally identified. Thanks for posting this.

It is always good news when someone in the doenetwork is identified. Now her grave can have the proper name.
I would like to hear a followup on this one.

Yesterday's news...poor girl!

A renewed effort to solve a murder paid off for Stanislaus County sheriff's investigators who have identified a San Francisco resident as the woman found dead 37 years ago near a canal with 65 stab wounds.

Investigators still don't know who stabbed Mary Alice Willey, but they brought in a forensic sculptor to increase public awareness. The resulting media coverage this summer eventually led Willey's cousin to contact investigators.

In September 1971, a federal worker found Willey's body near the Delta-Mendota Canal in Westley. She had major injuries to her face, neck, hands and upper body

Can anyone find the press conference? I would love to see it! I was looking for this girl but there was so very little to go on. I don't see her listed as missing anywhere - I would love to hear what her family has been doing to find her all these years!

Found it! The link is at the bottom of the October 3 press release. Just made me sadder....never reported missing and has only 3 cousins left on this earth!

RIP Mary Alice Willey.

I wonder what kind of "belief system" they had that would prevent them from reporting their child missing? I am happy that the three remaining cousins got to bring Mary Alice home. RIP Mary Alice.
