The search continues for an elderly couple who have went missing from the Olive Dell Ranch nudist resort in San Bernardino County over the weekend.

Stephanie Menard, 73, and her husband, Daniel Menard, 79, were last seen on Saturday at their home in the 26000 block of Keissel Road at around 10 a.m. on Saturday, according to the Redlands Police Department. Also missing is their dog named Cuddles, a small white Shih Tzu.

Shortly after they were reported missing, police located the Menards' unlocked car down the street from where they lived. They also discovered that Stephanie's purse and both of their cell phones had been left behind at their home.

Police say that Daniel suffers from dementia and is diabetic, adding urgency to their search for the missing couple. Friends say that the two did not get around on foot very well, so it would be unusual for them to leave their home without their car.

It sounds like they weren't prepared to leave their home.

"...they found Stephanie's purse was in there, cane was in there. ... TV was left on, computer was left on, it was just very suspicious for them to be gone."

So the opening post seems to convey a bit of confusion .Were they at home ,or at the nekkid place? Or is it all the same place? Also if there is a lawsuit ,someone please post those docs!

The circumstances has many in the community fearing the worst, especially while the community experiences a rash of unusual crimes like vandalism and break-ins.

The recent events already had many living on edge, uneasy with the sudden change happening around their homes.

Despite the public belief that something was done to the Menards, police have not mentioned any indication of foul play being involved.

"I can't really speak to that, we're certainly investigating every avenue," said Carl Baker, spokesperson for the City of Redlands. "We did have search dogs from Riverside Sheriff's Office and a helicopter from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office."

On top of this, neighbors have scoured the nearby Reche Canyon area on foot and horseback but still they haven't been located.

Could it be that Daniel let somehow their dog escape when dark, and they rushed in their car to look for Cuddles, saw him, wandered off the car and then got lost as the dog ran away. Now apparently Stephanie cannot walk without cane but maybe in the rush she forgot it.
Elderly people do not always have the reflex to always have their mobile phone on them

"Dan was funny and he was sweet. It just plagues me. I can't believe somebody would do something like this to them," Tammie Wilkerson said. "It hurts my heart 'cause they didn't deserve it."

The recent events already had many living on edge, uneasy with the sudden change happening around their homes.

"I'm terrified. I haven't slept since this happened," said Wilkerson. "I'm terrified that I'm gonna be next."

Friends say the couple, who is part of a possible lawsuit against the ranch, was being harassed and fear that may have had something to do with their sudden disappearance. The couple is very active in their church and in the Olive Dell community.

"They're very sweet people. There's not a mean bone in their body at all, which makes this very confusing," Wilkerson said

That sounds possible! I can see leaving the house with the TV on if you're running out to find a dog that got out. jmo

The media reports they were part of a possible lawsuit. To me that means one might be in the works but nothing has been formally filed. If they were one of several parties involved with a pending suit a query with just their names in the court system might be difficult. I did check San Bernardino County tenant/landlord records (or attempt to) to see if litigation was pending there but without the exact business name of the landlord and the exact physical address a search isn't possible. Public Portal - Superior Court of California, County of San Bernardino NOTE: I did check the general records for their county (you have to register to use the site but it's free, you just have to provide name and phone number and email). There was nothing in court records for San Bernardino County under either of their names. Public Portal - Superior Court of California, County of San Bernardino

"There's no way that Stephanie or Dan could have walked away from that car," friend Tammie Wilkerson said. "She has a cane. It was at home, her purse, their cellphones - things they would never have left at home."
