In the photo that has been of discussion this morning of Susan in the thread there is what looks to be a dachshund in the background on the top left hand side.
I saw that when I went to the NamUs site for Susan's missing person's profile, and on my computer I can hit View then hit Zoom in.
I will post the link to the photo from NamUs,
in addition to the link from NamUs of Susan's total profile.
Also, when you are on her profile you can click Images, then click on her photo to get an even larger photo, then you can use your computer under view/Zoom in......

If this dachshund is Susan's dog, when did she have this dog?
Was she at someone else's house?
Kjac22 said that Susan has a similar dog to the ones in the photos of Susan with a dog, but that was his dog, which is a medium to large dog, not a dachshund.........

There is no DNA sample and no dental records along with no fingerprints. LE apparently has not asked for family members to submit DNA? I guess if they find a body they'll have to use the hip replacement serial number for identification.

I think perhaps there is no DNA and dental records because the family Did Not submit her profile to NamUS, although I have mentioned on several occasions that it would be a GREAT RESOURCE for the family to do so.
So, a very KIND WEBSLEUTHER submitted the profile to NamUS, which I thought was fantastic.
I wish the family would FOLLOW UP and submit DNA and dental records.
Yes, at least that would be useful to have the hip replacement serial number if her body should be found, and they could identify her by those means.

So, Susan is posted on several websites with her photo, but in order for a SUCCESSFUL MATCH, crucial information should be submitted.
Especially, if there would be no finger prints and she was skeletonized, if she is indeed deceased....So DNA and Dentals are beneficial, in my opinion.........

It seems to me that if the family indeed suspect foul play critical information about Susan would have been given to LE. On the other hand, perhaps LE is not regarding Susan's disappearance as if there were foul play involved and really don't feel the need to have the family provide them with this information.

I have read articles and seen interviews and they believe foul play has happened.......
so frankly I just don't understand.

Actually, I don't think it is a selfie. If she is sitting on the floor, the angle of the mirror would need to be very strange (and large).

I believe that this was a good photo which was quickly cropped (possibly removing a large dog) for use in the search.

It was probably taken on a cellphone (an iPhone as a matter of fact).
 
Susans' family may not be handling the case of their missing loved one like some wish they would.....but, that doesn't mean they have done something wrong. Has LE said they aren't cooperating?
 
Even if it isn't a selfie...

I believe it would still be interesting to know where, and with who, the photo was taken...

It could lead to possibilities of other social contacts/interests...

How would you know, why would you think, that a large dog was Quickly cropped out of the photo?
How would you know, why would you think, that it was taken with an Iphone?
And I understand that you said the words probably and believe,
but it's just interesting to note you would say that.....

IMO...

that fact that LE reported that Susan's husband has not been ruled out as a person of interest indicates to me that they would like some more questions answered and/or more information provided...

LE said in interviews the family was cooperating........

If the photo was used on a missing flyer, it seems like it would be one her husband or son had on their phone. JMO
 
Maybe the family is not very savvy on what to do and if LE has not told them what to do or asked them for DNA, they have no clue. I don't know if all the threads here were read by Kjac. Lots of ideas were put on here, but we don't much on this case. I never got a feel of this case. Not sure what was known by LE or family, or if communication was just bad. There were questions asked that were simple, but either Kjac was being evasive or just didn't know. I could never tell. I felt like things were guarded. If the family was told to not tell it all, then I understand. WE all know about Namus and would do that. Not sure how much guidance this family has other than on here!!

I say quickly because the person who edited the photo was probably in a rush when they did it about 4 am the day after she disappeared. There is a small gray line visible on the larger version of the photo which could indicate they were in a rush when they resized the image (or were using limited function image editing software or did it on a small screen).

The angle and pose are typical of being on the floor with a pet or child. However, a child would typically be held closer. But maybe more of a give away is the apparent dog's ear above Susan's right arm and below the baseboard. Maybe I should modify my opinion say a medium to large size dog.

Actually, probably an iPhone 5 shooting at f/2.4 with an ISO setting of 200 (determined the same way as the time and date of editing).

On Tuesday, the Roseville Police Department assisted the Placer County Sheriff's Department with a search of the Wood Creek Oaks golf course area -- which is near the Raley's parking lot where Jacobson's car was found.

Police dogs were used in the search process.

"It was worthwhile to do it," Sgt. Darin De Freece said. "It was important to do it. One reason is, it closes that loop of where she isn't, so that's important.""
