Yep, this one and the Karen Shahan murder are both sitting in limbo.

Both murders would have left blood spatter evidence, both had obvious primary suspects who were interviewed extensively and detained soon after the bodies were found. Frustrating.

MOO

I'm unable to find the time of day a witness claims they saw JC parking and walking away from Todd's car which was left abandoned by somebody twenty miles away from the field where TC was found dead. How could the witness be so sure the person was JC? Do they know her personally?
Did JC typically attend gun shows with husband?

They report a gun, two notes (one in the trunk) and bullet casings were found in Todd's Mustang along with a pink towel under one of the seats.

Exactly one year ago, a Bakersfield man was found murdered, and his school principal wife was arrested in the case. Leslie Jenea Chance was released a few days later, and now she's working in the Greenfield School District office. But, no charges have been filed yet in the Todd Chance murder case.

On Monday, Kern County Sheriff's spokesman Ray Pruitt said after they originally submitted the case last year, the Kern County District Attorney's Office asked for more follow-up investigation. Pruitt said that additional investigation has been done, and the additional information has been "provided" to the DA's office. He said the DA is in the process of reviewing that information.

From the DA's office, Arthur Norris told Eyewitness News the "matter is still under investigation."

She was rearrested in December. Saw that on a story about Sabrina Limon.

hmmm, I can't find anything after this... from May:

ETA: Yes, this is from last week, actually: http://www.bakersfield.com/news/bre...cle_2785efc2-97cf-11e7-9cee-cfd417a184b0.html

Her next court hearing is scheduled for Sept. 21. A trial date has not been set.... The documents allege Leslie Chance, 50, had discovered her husband was having an affair, and she stood to collect hundreds of thousands of dollars on his life insurance policies.

From December:

Death penalty waived for former school principal charged with husband's murder

The District Attorney's office on Monday waived the death penalty in the case of Leslie Chance, a former elementary school principal charged with murder in her husband's 2013 shooting.

Chance, 50, now faces life without the possibility of parole if found guilty of first-degree murder in the killing of Todd Chance, whose body was found off a dirt section of Noriega Road near Enos Lane. He'd been shot twice in the chest and once in the palm of his right hand.

Chance's trial is set for Feb. 26.

I still say she did NOT do it. Todd Chance was going to the Kern Co. Gun Show at the K.C. Fairgrounds. If she was guilty, why did she submit blood, hair, & fingerprints? Why did they release the car (the crime scene) to her? The gun used to kill him? And "no other suspects". Really? Lots of cameras out where Todd was found, yet none reviewed by KCSD. She had zero reason and zero motive. And NO history of violence at all.

My business is within 100 yds.of where Todd Chance was found. Todd, who had multiple affairs during the marriage. Todd, who was texting a married woman. Todd put himself in harms way.
The case against the widow is ridiculous.

This week brings hearings in 40-year-old homicide and ex-principal charged in husband's slaying
Former Fairview Elementary School Principal Leslie Chance is scheduled for a readiness hearing Friday, where it will be confirmed whether her trial on a charge of first-degree murder in the death of her husband will begin Aug. 13 or be pushed back.

Chance, 51, faces life without the possibility of parole if found guilty of gunning down Todd Chance, whose body was found Aug. 25, 2013, off a dirt section of Noriega Road near Enos Lane. He'd been shot twice in the chest and once in the palm of his right hand.

Murder trial of former elementary school principal Leslie Chance pushed back to November
The murder trial of former elementary school principal Leslie Chance, accused of gunning down her husband in what prosecutors say was a premeditated killing carried out to collect hundreds of thousands of dollars in life insurance policies, was postponed Friday to Nov. 26.

Chance's trial was set to begin Aug. 13, but Judge Charles R. Brehmer continued the case due to scheduling conflicts with the attorneys handling the matter.

Snippet from ^ link in post 57:

The defense argues that it’s not true, claiming Leslie was not aware of any affairs and she defined her marriage as nearly perfect. They said police pegged her since the beginning of the investigation.

Also, the 911 tapes are apparently gone - poof!

And Leslie is so surprised, allegedly becasue LE has always been nice before this crime when she interacted with them - as if that has anything to do with anything?
