Wilson, Wayne “Truckee facility searched for clues,” The Sacramento Bee, November 17, 1998, pg 1, 10.

“A refuse worker…at the Eastern Regional Transfer Station tore open a bag Monday morning and found the lifeless body of a newborn girl”

“The body appeared to be Caucasian [or Latino], was unclothed and still had part of the umbilical cord attached.”

“Collections are made as far south as El Dorado County, as far west as Colfax, and from other communities in the central Sierra including Truckee, The North Lake Tahoe area and Donner Lake.”

“Worker’s find baby’s body at landfill,” The San Francisco Examiner, November 17, 1998, pg 6.

“The body looked pretty fresh and didn’t have any marks on it.”

“Placer County Sheriff…is treating the case as an apparent homicide.”

“Dead baby leads to police search of landfill,” The Tribune, November 18, 1998, pg 10.

“The dump takes trash from both commercial and residential clients”

Campos, Art “Dead newborn from Squaw Valley? Clues haunted in case of baby found in trash facility near Truckee,” The Sacramento Bee, November 18, 1998, pg 14.

“Pacer County Sheriff believes the baby…may have come from the Squaw Valley [now Olympic Valley] area.”

“The infant appears to have died sometime within 72 hours prior to discovery”

Wilson, Wayne “Workers arrange burial of newborn: Truckee crew found girl’s body in trash,” The Sacramento Bee, November 20, 1998, pg 29

“[Service will take place] in the Assumption Catholic Church of Truckee…Truckee-Tahoe Mortuary will make arrangements”

“It is believed that the infant came from the [Olympic Valley] area on Monday morning.”

Wilson, Wayne “Infant found in trash died at birth, autopsy indicates,” The Sacramento Bee, December 31, 1998, pg 13.

“There is evidence that the baby was initially buried, then dug up and swathed in a dark-colored plastic bag that was placed in a large commercial compacting trash contained at the Squaw Valley Ski Resort [now Palisades Tahoe Resort].

“The skis resort’s trash container is accessible to the public, is is not readily recognizable as a garbage receptacle,”

“Workers at the transfer station adopted the baby, named her Guadalupe, and buried her after a memorial service.”

“The autopsy…indicated the child was born feet first, in a breech position, and that her spine and trachea were severed, “probably in an attempt to pull the baby free of the birth canal…the birth was possibly life threatening for the mother,”

Given the circumstances of the delivery, it doesn't seem like the mother did this alone. I genuinely hope she's okay and isn't also a Jane Doe. I assume if she got medical attention but didn't have a baby with her, there would have been suspicion/a connection would have been made.
