[h=3]Details of Disappearance[/h] Hernandez was last seen in El Dorado County, California on July 1, 1969. Prior to his disappearance he had served in the military and worked as a migrant farmhand before marrying a woman in Bisbee, Arizona in 1954. He often hopped on trains and rode them across state lines, most frequently between Arizona and California. Hernandez has never been heard from again. Few details are available in his case.

At least they have DNA on him. Since he was in the military, why don't they have fingerprints? What could have happened to him? He seems well capable of taking care of himself.

I think the missing date July 1sth 1969 might be a default date. He was last seen in July according to the Doe Network...."Was last known to be in Los Angeles, California in July 1969". Also in those days they were not that explicit in describing the race as multiple (Hispanic/Caucasian) IMO. Or is this incorrect?

There is a story attached to his profile on Ancestry by someone who refers to him as Uncle Waldo (presumably a niece). It gives a pretty strong indication of what may have happened, reading in part;

"His sister hired a private investigator because he never would have gone off that long without at least staying in contact with Raphael. Unfortunately, the investigator tracked his last paycheck and social security deduction from an orchard infamously associated with the serial killer Juan Corona. Corona was convicted in 1971 but four of his victims, transients, were never identified."

Corona, who died in 2019, was also suspected of killing even more and, given the lifestyle of the missing and his age, he fits well into the victim profile of Corona. Given that dna is available for the missing you would have thought a comparison would have been done with the 4 recovered but unidentified victims of Corona, but I do not know if this is the case and it would not, anyway, rule him out of being an unrecovered victim.

Thank you for your research. I checked on NamUs and apparently his unidentified victims are not included there, so the only info I could find is extremely vague:
Juan Corona - Wikipedia (There's a section about his victims).
Sutter County John Does (1971)

In Wikipedia: "In the early morning hours of May 26, 1971, police entered Corona's Yuba City home with a search warrant and arrested him. Evidence indicating his guilt was discovered and seized, such as two bloodstained knives, a machete, a pistol and blood-stained clothing. There was also a work ledger that contained 34 names and dates, including seven of the known victims. The ledger came to be referred to as a "death list" by the prosecution, who alleged it recorded the dates the men were murdered".

It would be great to know that list.
