I wonder if Jane Doe is proven to be female, or if it's still assumed. Also, I thought the estimated age range NamUs operates with is a bit strange. Like, 28 to 52 just seems so random I wonder how LE/ME managed to narrow down to those numbers.

Here is a really interesting article I found about how forensics examines a skull to determine the sex of the person.

I agree, and especially in cases where partial remains or only a skull is found.

There was a case that was recently ID'd that was originally thought to be a black female. It turned out to be a white male.

I was thinking about her being DNA tested. Hopefully she has been, and her gender and ethnicity is scientifically proven, but these are very old remains, and she was found in California.. I fear she's been cremated before such tests have been done.

I wonder if gold teeth where a common thing at this time? Seems like it would be a expensive procedure to have done. Also just thinking that at least now you don't see many women with gold crowns on their teeth I wonder if they did confirm some how it was a woman?

Those pictures of her teeth look recent so hopefully she wasn't cremated like so many other UIDs in California.
Also, how the heck were they able to estimate her height and build from only her skull and mandible?

Looks like the remains were initially thought to be that of a man. Not sure if they confirmed it was female by DNA.
