We are trying to figure out ways to get "Jason's" facial images and basic info into Canada, like on Canadian popular music sites or Canadian sites popular with people in their 30s-40s., especially in the Quebec province. Many working on Jason's case here in the States think Jamie L. has a very very strong resemblance to Jason.

Hi Rainwater, I am local to Pickering. I can get some media links / twitter accounts that we can tweet the info to.

Hi Rainwater! I believe the family is aware of Jason, and the resemblance. His information was posted on the Lost Boys facebook page awhile ago under one of the posts. Hopefully they will check into it further.

New information, related to DNA testing:

According to the facebook page, Global News is filming an episode for their 16x9 show to advocate with other families to spread awareness and gain support for a national DNA database for missing persons in Canada!!

This is the link to the station:

The person who submitted Jamie as a possible Grateful Doe is not on Websleuths-as far as I know they have not heard back. There have been lots of MP names submitted to the Virginia medical examiner's office by many people-they apparently have a backlog of possibles to look at. There are several FB pages set up for Grateful Doe by different people.

Loyalsleuth-I tried thanking you for your above post but it is not showing thanks for some reason. Here is "Jason's " info in French, translated by channy. A bazillion thank you's to her !!!

Bumping. It's been 6 months since DNA testing was promised by Durham Region Police.

The UID with the red jeans is gone from the OPP Missing Persons site and is not on the RCMP UID site. The other set of remains found on the same day in the same location is still on both sites.

The man in the red jeans is still on Doenet: http://doenetwork.org/cases/815umon.html

His Canadian report seems to have migrated to the new Canadian unified database: http://www.missing-u.ca/UIDetail.aspx?PersonID=66

But I'm not seeing anything about the other body anywhere.

"20 years later, the Lost Boys mystery remains
Six friends vanished after a night of partying in Pickering in 1995. Their families remember them ever year but still have no answers."

"In October 2013, the family of Jay Boyle learned that human remains found near the Niagara River in 1998 were wearing a pair of red jeans like the ones he was wearing when he disappeared. Another set of human remains was found nearby.

According to the Lost Boys of Pickering Facebook page, the families have asked for a DNA test, but so far haven't received any results.

Anyone with new information on the case is asked to call Durham police at 905-579-1520. Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 FREE."

According to post #74 on page 3, one year ago today the Boyle family was promised a DNA test from Durham Regional Police. One year and nothing?

Not impressed with the Star article and their ho-hum attitude to no results to date - they could have at least called DRP out on this poor display of policing effort. Sad. I rescind my shout out to DRP in post #75 - not even and update. Imo, they never had any intention of supplying results - just promised in the hopes it would go away - it would be too embarrassing for DRP and Niagara Police for the two sets of remains to be two of these boys - found in 1998. Jmo.

[h=1]Sister of missing Pickering teen urges federal government for national missing persons day[/h]
PICKERING — The sister of a teen who went missing in Pickering 23 years ago holds out hope that the country will soon have a national missing persons day.

Siobhan Boyle’s brother Jay Boyle, a 17-year-old Pickering teenager, along with five of his friends, vanished March 17, 1995 after a night of partying.
Video surveillance caught three of them breaking into the East Shore Marina on Frenchman’s Bay in the very early morning hours. It’s believed the boys, dubbed the Lost Boys, stole two boats and went for an ill-fated ride on Lake Ontario.

No sign of the boys nor the boats were found, just a gas can near Wilson, N.Y., which had been stowed on one of the stolen boats.
Three years later, a set of human remains found in the Niagara River were wearing a pair of red jeans like the ones Jay had on when he disappeared. The Boyle family and a private investigator working on the case have a lot of questions and an online fundraising page has recently been launched to help the PI take the matter of testing the remains to court. The campaign can be found at www..com/lost-boys-vs-nrps-amp-oiprd.

When Siobhan’s family friend Cameron Bailie went missing in Oshawa in January 2017, before his remains were found, she began looking for resources to help the young man's loved ones. She found International Missing Children’s Day, but she felt a day is needed for people of all ages.

So she created an online petition to garner support for such a day in Canada.

I like that they intend to go to court to get those remains tested. It's been 20 years since they were found, it's about time this family gets an answer! The petition had more than 50,000 signatures in the end (it's closed now). That should have been enough for authorities to be persuaded.

Is there any update on this case? So intriguing
Welcome to Ws AP94!
Wishing that i had spotted this link last year..
CN Tower to be lit in memory of Pickering Lost Boys on Missing Children's Day
Apr 24, 2019
''DURHAM — The most prominent building on Toronto’s skyline will be lit up next month to mark International Missing Children’s Day, and pay tribute to a group of teens who disappeared from Pickering more than 20 years ago.

The CN Tower will be lit blue May 25 for Missing Children’s Day thanks to the efforts of Siobhan Boyle. Her 17-year-old brother Jay Boyle disappeared along with 18-year-old Chad Smith, Robbie Rumboldt, 17, of Pickering; 17-year-old Jamie Lefebvre from Scarborough; 17-year-old Michael Cummins of Oshawa, and Danny Higgins, 17, of Ajax.

The six teenagers, since dubbed The Lost Boys, are believed to have stolen a boat and water tricycle and taken an ill-fated ride on the frigid waters of Lake Ontario in the early hours of March 17, 1995, after a night of partying in Pickering.

Boyle said she proposed the idea of a CN Tower lighting as a way of raising awareness and providing support to people around the world feeling the same sense of loss as she does.''

Thanks for the invite. I have collected a lot of detail concerning the case and can answer questions for you.

I am planning to re-examine the case once this COVID thing is subsided. I have set up a tipline (lostboys.tipline@gmail.com). Any ideas should be sent there so the team can catalogue them and follow-up.

I have also created a campaign to raise the funding needed for the project. One item on our list is to court challenge the Durham and Niagara Police to provide unredacted reports.

Finally, you can follow the progress on our Facebook page. (facebook.com/lostboys95.

Any news on the DNA analysis ???

DURHAM — Forensic testing on a piece of clothing found in the Niagara River has yielded no new clues as to the fate of a group of teens who went missing from Pickering more than 20 years ago.

It took more than five years to get results of tests on a pair of distinctive red jeans found in 1998, three years after the six — dubbed the Lost Boys — went missing, presumably after taking a late night joy ride on Lake Ontario, according to one survivor.

“They got a significant amount of DNA from the jeans … but it didn’t match my brother,” said Siobhan Boyle, whose 17-year-old brother Jay Boyle disappeared along with 18-year-old Chad Smith, Robbie Rumboldt, 17, of Pickering; 17-year-old Jamie Lefebvre from Scarborough; 17-year-old Michael Cummins of Oshawa, and Danny Higgins, 17, of Ajax.

It is believed the six stole a boat and a water tricycle from a marina, then took to the frigid waters of Lake Ontario for an ill-fated joy ride. None have been heard from since.

“It’s kind of bittersweet,” Siobhan Boyle said of the test results, gleaned from a pair of red jeans that were found in the Niagara River in 1998. The pants were similar to a pair Jay Boyle was believed to have been wearing when he disappeared.

Boyle’s family knew the DNA testing was a long shot, but still hoped it may provide some answer to the lingering questions they have about what happened to Jay and his friends. Instead, all the family has is their ongoing uncertainty.

Siobhan had to break the news about the test to her mother, who longs for some sort of answer to the mystery.

“She cried a bit,” said Siobhan. “She wanted it to be him. But on the other hand, she was glad it wasn’t him — there’s still hope.”

Although she knew the testing may not yield any definitive answers for her and her family, Siobhan pressed the coroner’s office to conduct it — just in case.

“It doesn’t put us back any further than we were,” she observed.

She’s disappointed it took years to convince authorities to do the testing.

“It shouldn’t have taken this long,” Siobhan said. “It took five years to get an answer.”
