It is going to take a team of forensic accountants to sort through ALs ventures and this will sadly take time.

I really think they have at truck on video AT the Likness home parked and maybe even some footage of the victims leaving the house. I don't they they could get search warrants just based on a vehicle being in the area.

I never thought they could do that either. I'm from the US but pretty sure Canada has similar laws.

So does this mean anyone can just have their lives turned upside down because their vehicle was seen on a road somewhere?

What if DG is innocent? His life is being screwed up big time all because he drove somewhere in a free country. I seriously doubt he is innocent but still...

UNLESS that was the ONLY car,or one of a very few, seen near the Liknes home in that time frame. We only have one photo of the truck on the road. We do not know how many there are, what directions he was headed, or if there were multiple cameras along his route.

Is there normally a lot of traffic between 10PM and 10AM in that area? Its common in many neighborhoods for everyone to be in bed and asleep by 10PM. This also was a middle to uppermiddle class neighborhood which one would assume did not have many people working shirt work. I would guess it to be the 9-5 types of people and the elderly/retired.

I'm going to assume the area is quiet at night and there was more than one camera and several photos showing he was the only car there that night.

If LE had anything substantial on DG I think they would have brought it forth by now especially in light of the bail today. JMO
Maybe LE was quick to judge on DG. It does happen.

First post ever – please inform me if I break any rules! Sorry for being long winded here, just MOO about a few things:

1. Motive: To me, this just doesn’t seem to be about money or bad business. DG doesn’t ‘seem’ materialistic, his parents ‘seem’ well-to do (isn’t their property worth a lot of money? So if he was to mastermind/premeditate a crime, wouldn’t it be one he’d benefit more from financially? Or if this was a confrontation over money that spiraled out of control, would DG have gotten that upset over something like money?) DG just doesn’t strike me as the type to care about money. I thought he might be more motivated to become violent over the principal of something, an injustice of some sort or the way he (or someone he cares about) might have been mistreated/treated badly/lied to/deceived/used or played a fool, etc. This feels like it’s a personal issue to me.

2. Living Location/Property: I haven’t read any confirmation on the whereabouts of DG’s parents during the crucial abduction time and the 5 days afterwards which is very important in IMHO. If they were home, it would’ve been extremely brazen to bring the trio (alive or not, respectively) to the property with his parents there and try to hold or hide them while doing his regular day to day living while trying to act and remain normal. I feel like there’s either an accomplice (though seems unlikely since he seems the loner type) or there’s a secondary location he has or uses (for who knows what) or he stopped somewhere along the way home and not necessarily a landfill, but somewhere more ‘private’ to hold/hide them (again, alive or not). I have a feeling no crime or anything physical happened at his/his parent’s property, I fear they won’t find any evidence there. But if his folks were indeed gone for that period – that changes everything! That would mean he had privacy and time working to his benefit.

3. Family Behaviour: I greatly empathize for the family and JO and can’t imagine what they’re going through. I am curious as to why JO didn’t attend DG’s court hearing with RO. Maybe the LE has a strategy, or maybe too gut wrenching for her… I would think if JO had went her presence would remind DG (if he’s involved) of a mother’s/daughter’s pain and try to conjure up some emotion or guilt in him. Heck, if it was me – I would’ve probably screamed at him ‘Please help us, tell us anything you know, we’re your family. My son’s a child and innocent, we want to find our parents and son!! Even if I was escorted out of court, I still would’ve yelled it to try to remind him of the human beings involved (whether or not he has a conscience is debatable but anything is worth a shot when you’re desperate).

4. Family Relationship: I also read that RO left court with AL’s son (who’s in a relationship with PG). So it sounds like there’s no rift or strain within the family and those particular relationships (Personally, I can imagine it would be hard sitting in the same room with the sister of the suspect of your family’s disappearance, even though logically I know she is not her brother, I think I’d still feel an odd sense of resentment that I wouldn’t be able to control towards her!) If I was RO and JO I’d be asking PG non-stop questions about her brother, I’d want to know everything about him in hopes of some answers. I wonder what PG knows about her brother and his behaviour or if she thinks her brother is involved. I’d be curious to hear what PG thinks of it all. Link says that RO left court with AL’s son.

I’m really hoping there’s a bizarre twist and this family will have a happy ending, I have still have hope and I’m hanging on to hear good news. The odds of time say it won’t end well, but there’s something strange about these events that leads me to have hope. Keep the faith going, this family needs it!

Something to consider..... people are expressing they wish LE would say more. From a perspective of intrigue, sure I'd love that too.

But from a practical perspective that's not necessarily good.

We already have a key example of that with the truck.

LE ended up releasing the truck and their reason for seeking it after several days. It generated a tip which led to a POI who they grilled for days and kept in custody for a week.

Now let me emphasize what I'm about to say is pure speculation for illustration: Suppose the POI is a guilty of everything imaginable. Now also imagine what if LE would have made the truck connection to its location without having to go public first? They could have raided the farm and arrested and questioned the POI without revealing their hand. They can say whatever they want, including telling POI they know it was him. POI would have no idea how they found him or why. A guilty POI would be freaking out and wondering what mistake they made, what evidence was left, who informed on him, etc.

Instead, they went public with a key lead, revealing to POI how much or how little they know. POI has potentially been tipped to the importance of the truck, with 24 hours to dispose of things or establish other explanations about the truck when questioned. When snatched, POI can say "I noticed that truck was gone during the night but parked in the morning, probably one of the ranch hands borrowed, why are you asking?" But without forewarning, a guilty POI might not have such a good cover story.

So there's really two scenarios, one involves snatching the POI and catching him off guard, and the other involves a weaker position in dealing with the POI. By saying *more* in public, LE weakened their own position with regard to this POI. So is having LE broadcasting additional details or confidential facts actually beneficial?

Three people were missing, and there was probable cause to believe that the vehicle at the Airdrie acreage matched the vehicle in question. I completely agree that there must be other photos that contain more incriminating information. There must have been a warrant for the truck to be towed on July 4.

Of course the other side of the coin is that a certain amount of published information can help a case. Keeping the victims' identities secret could prevent someone with an important connection or lead from coming forward. And keeping a POI's identity secret could prevent someone who saw something incriminating (or exculpatory!) from speaking up.

I don't think he had money. I think someone told him how to make it appear as though he had a successful company with an online presence.

Like someone who had a business marketing website design perhaps? Hmmmmm

Maybe LE was quick to judge on DG. It does happen.

Maybe they want to let him go to see what he does, where he goes, whom he contacts.

Perhaps DG asked for or it was suggested by his defence that he dye his hair to alter his appearance, for his own safety in case he was released on bail today.
They do look like two different people.

There is another sketch make by an artist -- believed to be on the same day as the one where he looked old -- and she had him with dark hair. First appearance apparently he didn't have his glasses. Second appearance, today, he had glasses.

I completely agree with this first part, *if* DG is the perp, which I don't think he is.

I think a lot of the "loner" Behavior, high intelligence, poor decision making skills etc point towards him having Aspergers.....

Maybe they want to let him go to see what he does, where he goes, whom he contacts.

I found it a bit interesting that one of the conditions of his release is that he must provide a land line phone # if available. He's not on electronic monitoring so it's not required for periodic checks, so possibly they are planning a warrant for electronic surveillance. Mind you, DG seems like Wiley Coyote, so might manage to get himself a burner phone, but I'm sure he will be under tight surveillance and LE will work around that somehow.

Hopefully, when LE took possession of the truck, they did a drive by AL's house with the truck at the same time of day catching it on the same video they got the green truck on that night. And then they can watch the vids and make sure they match up.

I would expect it went straight into a contamination proof bubble, and gone through thoroughly for anything suspicious. It would be virtually useless at any trial if the police drove any suspects' vehicles around in any murder case with DNA involved. First, you might destroy evidence, and second, the cross contamination defence. Trying to prove a vehicle looks the same on video isn't a smoking gun. DNA... well...

The truck at the property is not parked in front any of his buildings. The shop is too new. There is no cement pad in front of any of DG building(other than house). I have watched videos and you see that building in front of truck is on the neighbors property.

So the neighbor might possibly have a green truck. I wonder if this has been checked out?

BBM - me too!

Entirely possible that PG hasn't had much contact with DG and really doesn't know anything. There hasn't been anything said about their relationship has there? I know I'd love to know what she has to say, their parents, AL... hell, anyone. But I understand their need to keep quiet about certain things.

For anyone that followed the TS case, the constant talking to media by her mother made a lot of people question that much more and really placed a target on her.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

i have only been following this case loosely but seems to me I remember the condo in question was bought by AL's twin brother and that it was available to family members to use. I saw nothing about the L's actually buying a condo.

I posted the link to the quote from the family friend.
The bottom line is that Alvin and Kathryn told a family friend that they bought a condo in Mexico.

Not really. The bottom line is that 's what the friend remembers. People muddle up the details all the time.

It was strange to follow along in the press conference too. You can listen to the link below, but basically they said:

JL (son/Nathan's Uncle) said that AL & KL were going to Edmonton for about 3 months. And then they were going to Mazatlan, Mexico, but he wasn't sure for how long. He didn't even know if they knew. But then they were moving back to Edmonton because they bought a house there.

The reporters asked why Mazatlan, Mexico, and if they owned property down there or were planning to buy down there, and the Dad/Uncle spoke together and said that it was family property, and that there were other family members who lived down there.

Then the Mom said that her dad's twin brother owned a place down there and lots of family vacationed down there.

So I thought it sounded like they didn't own a place down there...but then the reporters said "So they know a lot of people already" and the Dad said yeah they did, and then the Mom said that it was a recent property that they bought to spend winters there and bring family down for the holidays.

Starts about mark 7:22 (I'm still confused!)

Providing a landline number is standard practice across all jurisdictions when it comes to conditions of bail. It ensures when police contact you, you are at the physical location. Nothing unusual.
