Circumstances of Disappearance
Darlene Tucker was a 16-year-old high school student when she ran away from her Oakville home on Valentine's Day after an argument with her mother. Police files indicate that after discovering she was pregnant, she moved in with her boyfriend. A few weeks later, she left the boyfriend's home. After a week of not hearing from her, the boyfriend's father filed a missing persons report. Within a month afterwards, a couple of collect calls were made from Darlene to her mother from a payphone in Huntsville, Ontario.

Six months after Darlene vanished another 16-year-old student, who was also pregnant, Jan Stonehouse, ran away. Because the pair were friends, it is believed that the disappearances are linked.

There have been confirmed sightings of Darlene - once in 1985, when she was working as a waitress in downtown Toronto; and once in 1987 in the Haliburton area with Jan Stonehouse. Her family grew increasingly concerned when she did not collect thousands of dollars left to her in a trust when she turned 18.

In 2014, her mother made a plea for Darlene to contact the family saying, “We don’t want to disrupt your life, we just want to know that you’re alive and well. We miss you and we love you. We want her to know that we are still thinking of her.”

Additionally in 2014, a tip was received that indicated both Darlene and Jan may be alive and well in Ontario, but under different surnames.

I submitted Darlene as a potential match for a Jane Doe found in Los Angeles in 1994. I submitted it to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner on April 27. They're handling the Jane Doe case. They said that they unfortunately cannot compare Darlene and Jane Doe because Darlene only has DNA available, no dental records or fingerprints. Jane Doe only has dental records and fingerprints available, there is insufficient DNA for profiling. However, Doe Network lists Darlene's dentals as "available," so I called the Halton Regional PD (they're handling Darlene's case) on April 29 and left a voicemail with Det. Sgt. Kevin Britton. I did not hear back from him, so I emailed HRPD and Halton Crime Stoppers on May 6.

Darlene comparison (1).jpeg Darlene comparison (2) - nose and teeth.jpeg Darlene comparison (5) - age progression nose and teeth.jpeg

I submitted it based on the fact that she and Jane Doe both have a scar above their right eyebrow (Darlene's is listed as 1" and Jane Doe's is listed as 3/4"), they both have a gap between their front teeth, their noses are shaped similarly, Darlene is within Jane Doe's height range, and Darlene is close to the same weight as Jane Doe. Darlene ran away from home in 1983, but since there were confirmed sightings of her in 1985 and 1987, there is a chance she could have still been alive in 1994 and relocated between '87 and '94.

The things that don't add up are that Darlene would have been 3 years out of the age range at the time of Jane Doe's death, Darlene is white and Jane Doe is believed to have been Hispanic, Filipina, white or admixed. Darlene had dark brown hair and green eyes and Jane Doe had black hair and brown eyes. And of course, Los Angeles, California is a long way from Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

Did you ever hear anything about this?

I came across something interesting. While looking at the Canadas Missing website, I came across a girl named Jannisina "Jan" Stonehouse. In Jannisina's description it says, "Jannisina may have been in the company of Darlene Tucker who is also missing." This is odd to me because Darlene went missing in February and Jannisina went missing in August which is 6 months after Darlene Tucker disappeared. I wonder why the police thought Jannisina was with Darlene 6 months later? They must have some evidence to support this, no? Anyways, this was new info to me.

I have the impression that this girl met her friend... one went to try her luck and if it went well they would both leave together without anyone knowing so they could live peacefully in Canada... I think they are still alive although there is a portrait above that looks a lot like her but that it is difficult for them to tell where they are... because of their families because of the resources they spend looking for them... but as I said there is nothing certain in this case...
rest in peace
