Truro police conducted their experiment today. There is no news report out yet but the mannequin did not move while in Lepper brook so they moved it to Salmon River. It moved with the current but at a very slow speed.
Hmmm. Interesting. The weather and levels the same? Maybe he got farther on foot than they had anticipated.

To do this they’re using a mannequin roughly the same size and weight as Ehler, and placing it in the water to see what would happen with the high tide. This is the first time search and rescue in Nova Scotia have tried this.

The initial plan was to start in the brook near where he first went missing, they decided that it wouldn’t go very far and are now starting where the brook joins the salmon river.

‘ "This trial was not meant to be an exact science; however, it is believed that the exercise did produce some useful information that the team will be evaluating."

Officials are now meeting to decide on their next steps.’

Just for perspective:
-Dylan went missing from a home within the blue square
-one of his boots was found in Lepper Brook close to the home, highlighted and circled in blue
-his second boot was reportedly found in Salmon River, close to where it meets the Brook, circled in blue

As HayLouise in post #44 above pointed out, the high-tech mannequin did not travel far in Lepper Brook, so they moved it to Salmon River where they found it moved slowly.

A bit of an update today from yesterday's mannequin experiment. Police say this helped to track data and do some mapping. The idea was to give them a better idea of potential distance traveled and decide if they needed to expand their search area at all.”

In the Tweet above there’s a video of their search with the mannequin.

Stills from video in tweet above. In the 1st, the top of mannequin is only visible, I circled it in blue:

Truro Police Chief David MacNeil says that the area has already been pretty extensively searched, but this helped to identify some areas they would like to search a bit more, particularly where there are deeper pools of water.”

Tomorrow the dive team will return to give some areas a more thorough look. They will also be using a side sonar to help detect if there are any anomalies in the water. This will be done in the Salmon river in the area behind Stanfield Factory and near the Main st. bridge.”

Bumping for Dylan

From the few tweets from local journalists I’m following, the search is ongoing.

The weather has been warm, in the mid-teens C (60F). The Salmon River has reportedly has been clear, and conditions have been good for the divers.

One notable recent update:

“Truro Police Service is aware of an online group organizing an unauthorized search for Dylan Ehler this weekend <May 16-18> and they're asking people to not participate.

The 3-year-old went missing at around 1:20 p.m. <May 6th> from his grandmother's yard in the area of Queen and Elizabeth streets...

...Police chief Dave MacNeil says he knows people are trying to be helpful, but these are dangerous areas and they could be putting themselves at risk.

"One of the concerning things about the posts, it says bring your lifejackets and they're talking about going in the water," he said.”

Parents of missing Truro boy charged with domestic issues prior to son’s disappearance | The Chronicle Herald

The parents of missing child Dylan Ehler were both charged by the RCMP following a domestic situation four days before the boy’s disappearance on May 6.

Ashley Michelle Brown, 32, of Guest Drive, Bible Hill, was charged on May 2 with assaulting Dylan’s father, Jason Walter Ehler.

Ehler, 33, of the same address, was charged that day with uttering “a threat to cause death” to Brown. He is also facing a charge of committing mischief by willfully damaging an Apple iPhone belonging to Brown.

Both are scheduled to appear in provincial court in Truro on June 10.

Brown and Ehler were also ordered by the court not to communicate directly or indirectly with each other, except through a third party to arrange for child visitation through a lawyer. The couple did appear together for an on-camera interview with CTV News on May 14 to talk about their son’s disappearance.

Truro Police Service Chief Dave MacNeil said he is aware of the charges but he said there is absolutely no evidence to link the domestic charges with the boy’s disappearance.

Mapping for reference as the address of Dylan’s parents is now in the media: Guest Dr, the pin to the right.

Pin on the left is Dylan’s Grandparents’ home where Dylan was reported missing.

Circled in green is the location in Salmon River where police and SAR focused their search efforts.

I think LE is suspicious:

The active search for three-year-old Dylan Ehler has ended, but the police investigation into his disappearance will continue.

.....MacNeil said the police force will continue its missing person investigation.

He said police were actively monitoring social media and conducting interviews. Active search efforts could resume if new information warrants it, he said.

I’ve had suspicions from the start.
