A 7-year-old girl has died in hospital, a day after she was found in critical condition at a home in Granby, Que., by local police.

She was found tied, beaten and unconscious. Child services were aware. To me, this is a death penalty case. Our justice system fails these little ones. These two will be out on the streets again, and the race is on. The only thing they fear is their own mortality. Free room and board is what they get...and that for a short period of time. Something needs to change. IMHO. It's so heartbreaking to read about cases like this day after day. I'm following one now in my own home state. A "boyfriend" abused a two year old who is still at death's door. Even though he admitted it, he'll get a chance at a life. She never had a chance once her mother introduced this monster to her baby.

The stepmother is also charged with aggravated assault. She was charged with assaulting the little girl last year, but, bacause she had no record, she received an absolute discharge.

The girl's father, 30, and stepmother, 35, were each charged with unlawful confinement while the woman was also charged with aggravated assault.
