<modsnip>I feel like Jessica knew her murderer or was at least acquainted with this person somehow.
I would almost guess the person who killed her has no record or hasn't killed before only because there seems to be a mere speck of some small conscience at work by 'letting' her remains be found after that letter. Just a guess though, and the court date timing seems too aligned.
<modsnip>In these situations I tend to look at other family members other than the exes who might be close to the children (grandparents, aunts/uncles) sometimes they feel they have something to lose and might feel Jessica was in the way.
I keep going back to that letter for clues... Obviously, someone that LE had interviewed in the investigation, was purposely trying to deceive them. Why they didn't just say to that person that they are on to him, is a mystery. Why the need for a public statement? I surmise that it is possible that this person stopped communicating with LE... They needed to get a message to this person and had to go public. That, or maybe they were suggesting that other people know what went down and were not cooperating. Either way, it seems to have worked, because her body magically appeared and was coincidentally found by a friend.
