Oh, that is so sad. And who murders two people then takes the time to hide their bodies? Monstrous.

re: how common the name is

When I was trying to track the family and relatives, I saw articles estimating that 40-50% of Vietnamese in the US and Canada have the last name Nguyen.

Do we know where the husband worked? It sounds like the couple was on their way to a family event, then made a detour. How did they become associated with a 5 ton truck and a warehouse on the way to a family event?

Does work history offer any glimpses? LinkedIn profiles ... any clues? What do we know about the victims? Who are they? Where did they work? What were they wearing?

We're looking for bodies, clothing might make a difference.

MISSING COUPLE BELIEVED DECEASED; CANADA-WIDE WARRANT ISSUED FOR MURDER SUSPECT

Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a 35-year-old man in connection with the disappearance of the 37-year-old man and 25-year-old woman missing from the City of Markham.

Definitely. The mail carrier in my neighborhood knows this.

How immensely sad. Such a beautiful couple with their lives ahead of them. This tears me apart. Senseless.

:( Can’t read the article without a subscription, apparently, but the headline says:

Sources say at least one body found in Watford landfill: York Regional police investigating

Petrolia Lambton Independent news

Would explain the “working to recover the bodies” statement by police police. They likely already know how they were killed.
Landfill is 3 hour drive from where they were last seen in Vaughan. Another 35 minutes to the nearest US border crossing at Sarnia.

One body found , one arrested, killer still on the run.

Arrest made in murder of missing Markham couple, police say

One body has now been recovered and police have laid charges against one person in connection with the murder of a Markham couple who disappeared earlier this month.

Quoc Tran and Kristy Nguyen were reported missing on Sept. 21, with police saying they were last seen on Sept. 18.

At the time, police said it was unusual for Tran, 37, and Ngyuen, 25, not to be in touch with family for several days.

Investigators later said they believed that the couple had been the victims of a “targeted” killing the same day they went missing at 111 Zenway Boulevard in Vaughan, where neighbours say Tran ran a garden supply business. Police also released a warrant for the arrest of a suspect, identified as Phuon Tan Nguyen, 35, of Toronto along with images of a suspect vehicle allegedly connected to the case.

While police said they believed the couple had been murdered, their bodies had not yet been found.

Police announced Friday that one body has now been recovered from the Twin Creeks Landfill and Environmental Center in Watford Ontario, about 130 kilometres west of Toronto. The other body is believed to be at the same location but has not yet been found, police said.

Tips from the public lead to the location of the suspect vehicle and the identity of the alleged driver.

Police said 36-year-old Recaldo Liburd of Vaughan has now been charged with two counts of accessory after the fact of murder. Liburd is in custody and is expected to make his next court appearance on Oct. 14.

Phuon Tan Nguyen, who is not related to the victims, remains outstanding and should be considered armed and dangerous, police said. Investigators are encouraging him to get a lawyer and turn himself over to police. Anyone who spots him is being advised to call 911 rather than approach him.

''In a news release issued Friday, police announced they had arrested and charged a 36-year-old man with two counts of accessory after the fact to murder. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 14.

Investigators also announced Friday that they have recovered the remains of one body at Twin Creeks Landfill and Environmental Center in Watford, Ont., near Sarnia.

"At this point, we don't know if it's a male or a female,
" Const. Maniva Armstrong told CBC News.''

''Police say they are still trying to locate the second body, but it is believed to be at the same location.

A Canada arrest warrant is still in place for Phuong Tan Nguyen, who is wanted for two counts of first-degree murder, and are warning the public he should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him should call 911 immediately.

Armstrong said there is no known connection between the victims and the man who has been arrested. However, he and Nguyen do know each other, she said.''

''A suspect in the 2021 murders of an Ontario couple was last seen boarding a plane to Mexico days after the attack, police said at a news conference Thursday.

Phuong Tan Nguyen, wanted for two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Kristy Nguyen, 25, and Quoc Tran, 37, was last seen boarding the plane on Sept. 22, 2021, investigators said

Kristy Nguyen and Tran, both of Markham, Ont., were murdered on Sept. 18, 2021.

Police say, despite sharing the same last name, there is no familial connection between the suspect and victim.

Investigators allege the couple was killed in a targeted attack carried out at 111 Zenway Blvd., a commercial property in Vaughan. On Thursday, Investigative Services Supt. Rhonda Corsi said she believes a firearm was used in the attacks, but “cannot confirm that both were killed by gunshot wounds since [Kristy Nguyen’s body] has not been found yet.”

About two weeks after the murders, Tran’s body was recovered at Twin Creeks Landfill and Environmental Centre in Watford, Ont., located about 2.5 hours west of Toronto.

Shortly after, police arrested and charged Vaughan resident Recaldo Liburd with two counts of accessory after the fact of murder in connection with the investigation. He has since been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court for a pre-trial on June 16.

Police searched the Watford landfill and later, a U.S. landfill, for Kristy Nguyen’s body, “but sadly, those efforts were unsuccessful,” Corsi said

Phuong Tan Nguyen, of Toronto, remains outstanding and is considered armed and dangerous. Police say they do not know if he is still in Mexico.''

''According to the family, Kristy Nguyen had a degree in psychology and dreamed of completing her Master's degree in England. She wanted to be a lawyer, they said.

“What's more, before she was murdered, we had plans to meet with her boyfriend's family to discuss their desire to marry,” the family shared.''
