Lisa Marie Young, 21, has been missing since June 30, 2002. She was 21 when she disappeared in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Young was at a local bar where she met some male acquaintances after closing. They took a ride from another man, someone they had just met. The last time she was seen she was with the driver of the car. No one has heard from her since, something friends and family say is completely out of character.

Thanks so much for this link, MrsThreadgoode.

My heart goes out to Lisa Marie and her family. This is so frustrating--there are so many details known, but still never an arrest.

I'm just picking one tiny little part from your link:

At about 6:50 minutes in:
"Lisa made a call to her friend D, who was still at the party. Lisa said the male in the red Juguar had taken her to a house and she was uncomfortable with the situation.
She didn’t like the house or who was there. And she wasn’t being allowed to leave. That was the last her friends heard from her."

Here is a little bit more info regarding Lisa Marie's last phone call:

"At around 4:30 AM, Lisa Marie contacted a friend. The man had not taken her to a sandwich shop, she said. They’d driven to someone’s house, and she was waiting in the car for him. She was worried about the driver and about the situation she now found herself in. She was never heard from or seen again."
Lisa's case is #6: http://listverse.com/2014/09/09/10-haunting-canadian-murders-that-no-one-can-solve/

Facts leading up to Lisa

Missing from Nanaimo,

Lisa Young, 21, has been missing since June 30. The Nanaimo woman was last seen leaving a Nanaimo house party with a man driving a burgundy Jaguar.
Nanaimo RCMP say there is nothing new to report.

Call RCMP 250 754 2345

Bumping this link, whether the Jaguar was red or burgundy, surely it would stand out and someone would remember who drove one, imo.

According to the podcast, they know the name of the person who drove the Jaguar that night. Apparently, he wasn't the actual owner--the vehicle belonged to his grandmother.

Law enforcement questioned him and even searched the vehicle. <modsnip>

I just heard the casefile podcast. There are a few things I don't understand. The driver of the Jaguar was identified and he was questioned and yet his story has never been made public, why? It is unknown if the house he took Lisa to was searched, why don't we know this? Why hasn't the media contacted this guy? Usually we get a tall tale via media, but nothing from him or his grandmother? This seems really shady. IMO

implication that there was a strong Hell's Angels link or other dangerous gang or gangs. must have been able to clear himself but releasing the story might put him or someone else in danger? just my speculation.

Right but two things could have happened, he refuses to reveal anything do to being afraid. Why would the police release him, he is suspect, they literally believed what he said and let him go.

It seems a bit selfish to think his life is more valuable than her life. I am sure there are ways to protect him. It is unacceptable that with the car, the house in question and the last person to see her identified, the fact that she actually called from said house to say she was scared and nothing has been found after 12 years. That we don't even know if the house was searched, that the media has not tried to find out what he said, interviewed him, that pressure has not been put o the owners of the home the people linked to me seems very odd.

Inquiry brings back memories of Nanaimo woman missing since 2002

Mother of Lisa Marie Young says growing awareness of missing and murdered indigenous women has brought her daughter’s story back to the surface

On Wednesday, Indigenous Affairs Minister Carolyn Bennett announced the federal government would launch its inquiry into the epidemic of missing and murdered indigenous women in September, which some say could include as many as 4,000 women in the country.

Young says the growing awareness of the issue has brought her daughter’s story back to the surface and allowed her to meet families in similar situations.

“It’s just so heartbreaking because you know exactly how they feel about their missing loved ones,” says Young, who is a member of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation, but lives in Nanaimo. “It’s been a lot of hurt…People assume that you just get up and carry on with your life.”

The efforts of Lisa’s parents, Young and her husband, Don, to tell that story resonated as far as Australia recently, where true crime podcast Case File devoted an episode to it.

Family members and activists have called for more to be done to bring closure in other unsolved cases of missing and murdered indigenous women, often decrying a lack of police engagement.

Dawn Lavell-Harvard, president of the Native Women’s Association of Canada, is optimistic the inquiry will explore whether unsolved cases were investigated by police “to the best of their ability,” among other systemic issues that could lead to the perpetuation of violence against indigenous women.

On Canada Day long weekend of 2002, her 21-year-old niece Lisa Marie Young went out with friends to a Nanaimo bar and was never seen again. Sixteen years later, her disappearance remains a mystery.

“The case will never be closed,” said Frank.

This is not collecting dust. It will always be an open investigation,” he said. “We believe that there is somebody out there that has information that can assist with the investigation and we need to hear from them. They can go to any police detachment in Canada or anywhere in the world and talk to a police officer. If they want to remain anonymous, they can call the generic Crime Stoppers line [1-800-222-8477].”

''Young had been at a local bar until closing time on June 30, 2002. She left with some friends to go to a house party and they caught a ride from another man, someone the group had just met.

The last time Young was seen she was with the driver of the car. No one has heard from her since''.

''Jun 05, 2020
NANAIMO — The case of a missing Nanaimo Indigenous woman who vanished nearly 18 years ago is getting a much-needed jolt.

A new six-episode podcast series titled ‘Island Crime Season 1: Where is Lisa?’ is focused on Lisa Marie Young.

The then 21-year-old woman was last seen in the early morning of June 30, 2002 before receiving a ride from a Nanaimo house party to get food. The RCMP classify Young as missing and presumed to have been a homicide victim.''

Palmer’s investigation pieces together what’s known about the night Young disappeared.

She accepted a ride from a house party to get food from man in a red Jaguar she had met earlier in the evening. Young later phoned a friend to say she was in the car on a Bowen Rd. driveway and being held against her will.

The driver was publicly identified as Christopher Adair, who Nanaimo RCMP confirmed remains a person of interest.

Palmer said she doesn’t think people responsible for what happened to Young will listen to her podcast and come forward to police.''

''At the time of Young's disappearance, her father was helping her move into her own apartment in northern Nanaimo[7], something she was excited about.[8] Young was also preparing to start a job at a call center within two days of her disappearance,[7] and considered pursuing higher education, with the hopes of becoming a television sports broadcaster.[4]

Disappearance
On the night of June 29, 2002, Young left her parents residence at 11:00 P.M. to go to a nightclub with several friends. Her parents found it strange, as Young had a busy schedule for the week.[9] Young spent the night at a nightclub in Downtown Nanaimo called Jungle (now known as Club 241) where she and several friends celebrated the birthday of their friend, Hulley. After the nightclub closed at 2:30 A.M. on June 30, 2002, one of Young's friends began a conversation with Christopher Adair, who offered them a ride to a house party in southern Nanaimo in his red Jaguar. Despite just meeting him, Young and friends accepted the offer.

The group spent an hour at the first house party before moving onto a second house party.[2] At the second house party, Young became hungry, but could not find anything to eat that party because she was a vegetarian. Adair offered to take her to a nearby sandwich shop, which Young accepted. The last time Young was seen was around 3:00 A.M., where she was leaving the house party with Adair.[10]

Not long after Young left the party, Hulley received a phone call from her. She told him Adair did not take her to a fast food restaurant nor drop her off at home, but instead she was sitting in his car in a driveway and Adair would not let her leave.[11] The final time Young contacted Hulley was at 4:30 A.M., when she sent him a text message reading: "come get me, they won't let me leave."[3] Young's final phone signals were from the Departure Bay area of Nanaimo.[12] Family members of Young have never heard anything about her cellphone being traced down and do not know what happened to it.[8]''
