Hi Gina - I am so sorry your son is missing. I ran away from home once when i was a teenager 'in love' and at the time I was really dense regarding the anguish I put my family through. I really hope this is the case with Luke.
Do you suspect when you sent him off to class he decided to ditch again and left on his own accord? Are the police involved? Do you know how they are treating his disappearence?

Hi Gaia: Yes, I suspect that he decided to ditch again and the local RCMP are involved there has been nothing yet, prayers to all that are here...

Awww, Ginajade. I am so sorry there has been no word on your son and it has been so long. Hopefully soon you will get news and we will pray it will be good news. I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs~

ty to seriously and peace...prayers to all here and gone...still desperately wanting my son back........

Ginajade:

My thoughts and prayers are with you. I personally know the pain of losing a loved one. My brother, Steve has been missing 16 months and not a word or clues to where or why he disappeaed. No one understands until they go through this agony that the hurt and pain is continuous and never goes away. Not a day goes by that I pray for some lead to my brother's remains.

Ginajade my prayers are with you just keep looking for him and know that you are doing the best you can. My daughter at 15 ranaway and at first her boyfriend was hiding her for over a month and a half with the police actually going thru the house twice and my oldest daughter sat not two feet from the hole in the wall runaway was in. Then her aunt on my husbands side drugs and much worse we had to hire a private investigator that specialized in runaways he scared the inlaws and they finally turned her in, she is 21 and back doing fair really well considering she is drug free and works at working. Good luck

ty all. sorry about your brother STEVE, kaelee2, i pray that all is well & you have had some news. thanks for support mom3dd, i have a private investigator as well but still nothing, all i can do is stay strong & pray...prayers to all here...

You are all still in my thoughts and prayer Ginajade. Praying that Luke is found safe and brought home to you.

a friend of my mom's has possibly spotted my son riding the skytrain, so people of vancouver, please keep your eyes peeled and if you see him ask if he is luke and if so tell him to email me and please report where and when you seen him to the rcmp, i haven't had any solid leads as of today...prayer to all here....:behindbar

Ginajade - I hope the Vancouver sighting turns out to be something!! I'm crossing my fingers and sending prayers to you and Luke!

Disappearance worries family
Police continue investigating missing-person case
A vigil will be held this weekend for Luke Degerness, the local youth who has disappeared for the past year and a half.
"People are in the giving spirit, perhaps it will tug at the heart strings a little bit and I can get some more eyes out there watching for him," said Gina. "It's like he dropped off the planet. He's been gone since he was 14, and his 16th birthday is coming up soon (Jan. 29). We would love to have him home for Christmas."
Luke was last seen at Prince George secondary school on June 7, 2007. He was wearing a red baseball cap, blue jeans, white t-shirt, and black running shoes. He was also carrying a large camouflage backpack. According to investigators with Missing Children Society of Canada, he had gotten into some trouble at school but a meeting with school officials that day had gone well and he apparently left the meeting in a good mood heading for his next class. He never arrived.
"It's just worrisome that not one friend, not one family member has heard from him. That's what worries me the most, I think," Gina said.
He has a long history of trouble, but nothing that would turn his family's back on him, Gina said. He was in Edmonton for a while before his disappearance, and some of the investigations since his disappearance have centred there. There was a recent suggestion he was in Calgary and that has so far turned up nothing.
"The more prayers and positive energy we can get going, hopefully that is what will help bring him home," said Gina, who refused to give in to the emotions of the other possibilities.
The vigil will be held Saturday on the steps of the Prince George Courtouse at 7 p.m. People are encouraged to attend and show support, and it would be appreciated if you brought a candle for yourself (and a punctured cup or some other item to use as a windshield).
For more information, Gina has set up a Facebook group in honour of her son. Anyone interested can search for "Luke Degerness Is Still Missing" and join this group for regular updates.
Anyone with information on Degerness's activities or whereabouts should call the Missing Children Society of Canada's investigators at 1-800-661-6160 or email tips@mcsc.ca.This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

MCSC organizes ground and water search for Lucas Degerness

The Missing Children Society of Canada (MCSC) spear-headed a search of the Hudson's Bay slough on Sunday in the organization's ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Prince George teen Lucas Degerness. Lucas went missing on June 7, 2007 and at that time was living only a short distance from the slough area. MCSC's search was prompted by recently received information on Luc's suspicious disappearance.

Following the conclusion of yesterday's search, Lucas' mother, Georgina Degerness released the following statement:

"I want to thank MCSC for the search of the Hudson's Bay slough along with their search partners. I send my thoughts and prayers to all the families and friends with missing loved ones. Thank you also to the RCMP and Cst. Alison Raju for their continued support. Anyone with information on my son or any of our missing kids call MCSC toll free at 1-800-661-6160. Thank you everyone for your help."
