CBC:
Amber Hildebrandt reports: "As the Crown is going through these counts, most family and friends are quietly watching. There are no visible tears. Lawyer now mentioning that Williams had pictures saved of the Ottawa Citizen's reporting on some of the crimes. "

CBC:
WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT: Amber Hildebrandt reports: "Crown lawyer Robert Morrison now shows a graphic picture of Williams that he has written on, captioning the photo with "merci beaucoup" followed by the victim's name. The count details continue to emerge from the photos he took, the occupants of the house, the number of sub-folders he kept for each break-in and the pictures of each. Details include in how many of them he was naked, in how many he was masturbating, or showing off underwear he either stole or put back into the drawers."

CBC:
WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT: Amber Hildebrandt reports: "Detail after detail is described as the Crown goes through the B&E counts. They are currently at counts 21 and 22 of 86. There are many images of Williams masturbating, as well as photos of underwear, including some taken in his own home."

Jill Mahoney - Another update from Tim:

As prosecutor Robert Morrison goes through this almost unbelievable chronology of perversion, his calm professional mode of delivery serves the court well. The Crown was determined that when the time came there would be a full public account of this litany of crime. Now it is being aired.
Also certain is that probably nobody in the packed courtroom has ever seen anything so appalling.

Greg McArthur - The photos of the bedrooms show that the girls are clearly very young: stuffed animals, toys. In one of the photos he took of himself, his legs are dangling off the end, because he's so much bigger than it.

Sense of security:

Williams broke into the homes through open windows, patio doors, pushing in basement windows and by picking locks.
Court has heard he spent 30 minutes picking a front door lock in Ottawa on one occasion.
Most times, his activity went unnoticed. Sometimes home owners later noticed a broken lock on a window or door but still did not call police unless they realized something was missing.
After all, one victim later told police, "there was a sense of security in the community at this time."

CBC:
Amber Hildebrandt reports: "The Crown is discussing a series of images that show Williams wearing underwear he took from a home underneath his own clothes. The Crown also notes the time the photo was taken, 5:18 pm and that it was a workday. There is a suggestion by the Crown that he may have been wearing his military uniform in the images."

Uniform:

Picture of Williams during another break-in during business hours on Aug. 21, 2008. He was likely on duty that day and he is seen pictured wearing soiled, pink women's panties underneath a man's dark blue pants and light blue shirt....
Crown says he can't be sure but the colours match his regular air force uniform.

Early on, a poster here mentioned the possibility of cross-dressing. Looks as if (s)he was correct.

Lianne Elliott:
Here's an update from the CBC's Dave Seglins, who notes distraught family members and a victim are unable to keep hearing the evidence and have left the courtroom:

The Crown continues to read through each and every count, showing photos Williams took of himself, breaking into young girls bedrooms, naked, modeling clothing and masturbating on their beds.

As presentation of the evidence drags on, the Crown is becoming more and more exasperated at the sheer magnitude of these crimes. Prosecutor Robert Morrison has drawn the judge's attention to Williams' "dangerous escalation" of repeat break and enters.

The court exhibits now include thousands upon thousands of photos of Williams, repeated sexually obsessive behaviour back in 2007 and 2008 – long before he escalated to actual sexual assaults on women and the eventual murders of Marie-France Comeau and Jessica Lloyd. Some of the photos depict Williams in girls lingerie, wearing parts of what the Crown says appears to be his Canadian military uniform.

Many family members and one of Williams’ sexual assault victims has left the court room, now that he has pleaded guilty. Members of the public are at times shedding tears, shaking heads in disgust, or staring forward in awe at the scope of Williams’ depravity. Reporters too, are showing signs of anxiety and disgust enduring the ongoing litany of disturbing images.

Lianne Elliott:

The court has broken for lunch and Williams has left the room.

Jill Mahoney - This is from Tim:

Court has recessed for lunch.

None of the dozens of reporters listening to this litany of horror have ever attempted what you are reading now: A live, blow-by-blow account of a monstrous rampage of theft, sexual assault and murder. So far the process seems to be working well, with minimal disruptions to the court process.

BBM: Hey guys, I guess we aren't the only ones following a live court blog for the first time, all the reporters have not covered a trial in that way before.

I hope they provide a live blog coverage for the trial of the male accused in Tori Stafford's case!!! This is an interesting, and unique way to provide the information for sure! I'm horrified at how many children's rooms this guy was in undetected! I'm glad they got him -- I fear that had they not, his next victim might have been a child!

Given the degree of depravity cited by these thefts and photos, it seems impossible that he only began his criminal behaviour a couple of years ago!

The Crown said he had an “unusual sexuality” in reading out the evidence, warning the facts in the case that will be read out over the next couple of days “will be extremely disturbing."

Some of those came to light early Monday, as the Crown began to enter into evidence a number of odd revelations, including that Williams would often model the lingerie, masturbate in the homes and take photos of the underwear and of the bedrooms he'd broken into.

Evidence pix continue. Crown says clear pattern: pix of underwear drawers, then of clothes on Williams with gentials showing, etc.

We have not heard details yet of the "very disturbing" event in 2009 & perhaps foreshadowed ... the murders and sexual assaults"

BBM: WHAT possible event could have been so very disturbing, to foreshadow the murders and sexual assaults. OMG.
