I am glad to hear her mother is still hopeful. Yes, I read there were sitings near Calgary and perhaps Edmonton. I do live in Alberta.

On another note, reading some of her instagrams posts, it appears to me, Mekayla was battling with depression and other mental health issues for some time prior to her disappearance. Perhaps, this is related as well.

You are exactly right that there was a sighting of Mekayla according to the Tosguna Tsuut'ina Nation Police Service Facebook Page. It states that 'It is believed that Mekayla was in attendance at an event on January 20, 2017 at the Grey Eagle Entertainment Centre' (Grey Eagle Resort and Casino) in Calgary. That tip is currently being investigated. The posting date according to their Facebook post is February 15, 2017, fairly recent. Something interesting to note is that the Tosguna Tsuut'ina Nation Police Service themselves said that in this particular case, she (Mekayla) was last seen 'on' the Tsuut'ina Nation (reserve). Their original post did not originally indicate that she was last seen in or around the residential area of the reserve itself, 'only' at the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino. That said, they seem to be fairly adamant that she's in the immediate vicinity of Tsuut'ina Nation itself and not solely at the Grey Eagle. Hopefully, if all goes well through this investigation, Mekayla will be found.

So is it believed that she ran off with someone? I haven't looked all that deeply into this but her actions on the day she went missing gives the appearance that she was meeting up with someone. And given that her friends said she was talking online with guys it does make this theory seem pretty credible.

I believe that most amateur sleuths online looking at this case would agree that she was trying to meet someone somewhere, but the exact nature of how she was in contact with this person or where she intended to go has never been ascertained.

She tried to book a hotel room and sell some items at the pawn shop, both activities which require one to be 18+; she thought she had a lot of money in her bank account; she's seen fiddling with her phone and looking around a lot at Tim Hortons; she asked about a bus ticket.

There a large number of oddities that make it difficult to come up with a theory.

Just my opinion/speculative.

I wonder if her backpack or any personal effects have ever been found but not connected to the case.

I do believe that she took off west of Canada, based on the alleged sightings. I think that she met with someone who she was in contact on a second phone, under a profile for some of the apps that she used at the time.

I believe that she is alive, hopefully she returns to her family.

Paula Bali is hoping that increasing the reward offered for her whereabouts may prompt some fresh information in her missing daughter’s case, which is still open after six years.

Mekayla Bali disappeared from her home community of Yorkton on April 12, 2016. Mekayla was 16 years old at the time.

Mekayla would be 22 years old now. Paula said she can’t fully fathom having lost so much time with her daughter.
