A teenage boy is in police custody after his mother's body was found south of Montreal on Monday morning.

Police in Saint-Julie received a call from the 15-year-old at around 11:30 a.m., directing them to go to a home on Albert-Lozeau Street where a woman's body would be found, said Richelieu-Saint-Laurent regional police Sgt. Pierre Tremblay.

Neighbours and friends of the boy identified the woman, who was in her mid-forties, as the teen's mother.

The 15-year-old boy was sentenced to four years in custody followed by three years of community supervision on 10 November 2010.
