RCMP in British Columbia - Public assistance wanted to locate a missing person: Shaelene Keeler Bell

Chilliwack RCMP confirmed Tuesday that the vehicle possibly being driven by a 23-year-old woman who was last seen near downtown has been located.

Shaelene Keeler Bell disappeared on Saturday (Jan. 30) after being spotted in the 9300 block of Edward Street. Mounties would not say where the vehicle was found, but family and friends say it was on Ballam Road near the Fraser River.

Chilliwack mom missing for days 'wasn't herself' before disappearance
''Bell’s abandoned vehicle, a grey 2021 Hyundai Tuscon, was later found near Ballam Road, about seven kilometres from her apartment.

“There’s a very high concern for Shaelene’s safety and well-being,” says Cpl. Mike Rail of the Upper Fraser Valley RCMP.

“We’re following tips and leads that are coming in,” he said.

An RCMP dive team spent the day scouring the murky river near where the Hyundai was found. Meanwhile, a police helicopter searched from overhead. Volunteers were also out for a second day, looking for any sign of the missing woman.''

Durham says when she last saw her daughter Saturday, “she wasn’t herself.”

“I guess you could say (she was) having a struggle,” Durham says.

Her mom says Bell was on medication and would sometimes go to the area where her vehicle was found so she could think.''

The case of missing 23-year-old Chilliwack woman, Shaelene Keeler Bell, and other missing women in Chilliwack and other B.C. communities are not connected, RCMP said in a statement.

“There is no trend or corroborated information to support social media posts regarding the abduction of women in Chilliwack,” said Cpl. Mike Rail, media liaison officer for the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment on Thursday, Feb. 4. “Social media posts associating the search for Shaelene Bell to missing person investigations in other communities are incorrect and not consistent with evidence gathered to this point of our investigation.”

RCMP say missing women cases in Chilliwack and elsewhere are not connected - Chilliwack Progress

It’s so sad but to say “she’d never leave her boys” isn’t evidence she hasn’t self harmed. People love their children with their whole being and still take their lives all the time. I really hope that’s not the case. But the other possibilities are grim as well. It’s almost like it would be better if she went on her own terms instead of being abducted or worse.

''No link between missing B.C. women; RCMP dispel ‘rumours’ over white van abductions
''Over the weekend, hundreds of posts circulated online warning of an unsubstantiated “series of abductions” linked to a white van – with some of the posts suggesting that people arm themselves.

When a person goes missing, the Real Time Intelligence Centre, created in 2014, is mandated to review and identify links and trends between those cases and other criminal activity. The agency said while there have been three recent incidents in which a person said they were followed by a white van, no further links or trends have been identified. A fourth incident is still under investigation, involving a man being forced into a white van.''

“I can’t emphasis it enough, we want to keep (the search) going for my daughter’s sake,” Durham said. “I will not have my daughter as a missing statistic. I refuse that.”

She spoke from her Chilliwack home on Wednesday about what kind of woman Bell is.

“Shaelene is the most caring, kind-hearted girl you could ever meet. Anyone who knows her knows she would help anyone in any way she could. She’s a very loving, people-oriented person.”
''Bell has lived in Chilliwack most of her life. She moved here as a young girl,
attended school and graduated in Chilliwack. She was involved in cheerleading and vaulting and has many friends in the community.''

She is a “very devoted” mother and has two young boys, her mom added. Her youngest son has been a patient at BC Children’s Hospital for most of the last two years, and last year he was the poster child for an annual fundraiser for the hospital.''

Ms. Bell has also gone by "Shae Durham" -- her relatively idle Twitter account: https://twitter.com/ShaeDurham. If you look at her follower list, media, and likes, there are very few indications of her life in the past decade, which I am certain RCMP has taken into account for their various preliminary hypotheses.
