So what I'm seeing in this composite:

dark eyes and thick dark eyebrows
full lips
somewhat wide nose
wide jaw

There is no weight info other than stocky build. He is not particularly fit or muscular, according to poster info.

The age given is 19-20. I doubt he would grow any taller unless the escort was off with her age estimate.

My own opinion: he is into the metal music scene. I think it's big in that area of BC anyway. This is based on the facial hair (pointy sideburns). My guess is that he still is into this scene and goes to shows, etc.

BBM: Do you think that's why he was in Armstrong or do you mean in Kelowna?

It it a West Coast thing to wear sideburns like that? Bearing in mind, that if they weren't gone before, the POI has likely ditched the sideburns now, that's for sure.

Besides the one picture of Taylor with the side of her head shaved off and dyed blue, it doesn't really seem as if she was into all that. Maybe it was a recent thing? Was Taylor into a music scene at all? What about the online gaming and stuff? :waitasec:

Another thing to consider is the biker gangs(which have clubhouses all across canada) and First Nation reserves. I hate trying to come up with possible suspects when the murder seems so random, it just feels like a bunch of finger pointing...:banghead:

I know what your saying. I'm part Native myself and I have to say that Native guys can't grow facial hair like that. It's true, unless the guy is not full Native. Those burns look thick and well groomed to make such a point. The biker gang thing I agree with although the description from 2005 has the suspect as being 19 or 20, I think it's young for a biker. JMO The metal scene is finger pointing but I like some metal and there is a huge underground of thrash metal in the area. The pointy burns remind me of the way some metal musicians groom their facial hair.

I certainly did not intend to "fingerpoint" in my earlier (unthanked) post about Lemmy from Motorhead as an example of that type of sideburn. Actually, my experience from the past has been that the heavy metal crowds, whilst a little intimidating to look at, usually drew the best behaved and nicest crowds.Oops, just got my hearing back!
I wonder if this perp happened to be "riding the rails" through town, spotted a bloodied and battered looking girl (T. as zombie) and frankly, since he is obviously very sick, the sight of blood, simulated or otherwise, excited and drew him to kill.

Oh I didn't mean yall were fingerpointing at all - I was referring to myself! :) In cases like this I can seem to think of a reason anyone could be responsible!

That's okay Dogface, I worry sometimes when I am sleuthing and trying to figure out who is who, (like everyone else here) that I may offend and I never wish to offend and I know you guys feel the same way too.
Once when I was in a club (years ago) I was being bothered by an idiot in the crowd, suddenly a scary looking guy with a wild mohawk appeared , grabbed the jerk away from me. My "rescuer" returned briefly to say that if I was ever in trouble to yell out his name really loudly," what's your name?", I asked..
Dogface!!!!
I wish Taylor had a" Dogface" to help her that night.

THANKS TO DOTR FOR THE LEMMY POST !!

luv sb

Lol, thanks Sillybilly, I feel silly but I thought that maybe someone took my post the wrong way, back to head thrashing!

From what I have read, they found Taylor's cell by the train tracks and she was 10 feet from the main road, the cell was found at 7:30 and she was found at 8:45,
so my question is why did it take so long to find her, it is my understanding that they started the search where the phone was found. Any chance that she was moved from the scene and then brought back?

Hmmm, like she was abducted and brought to a car or house and then dumped there?

That's the first time i've heard about the "10 feet from the main road". Would appreciate a link to that info Blueflame. Thanks !!

That's what I couldn't figure out either ... why so long? (even when I thought she was found further up in a more dense area than near the main road).

We don't know if the person who found her phone remained at the precise location, or if they wandered around with it as they were contacting her family. The person didn't necessarily know that the cell belonged to a missing person. By the time searchers or LE spoke with them, the person might have been away from the scene, and it took a while for LE to meet up with them and then get a precise bead on the location the phone was found.

That information is in my notes after reading many many articles, not sure which one, I am rereading the news articles again and if I find it I will post the link, it may have been in here.
In the meantime can anyone else verify this information?
thanks

An autopsy has been completed on murdered B.C. teen Taylor Van Diest, but Mounties aren't saying anything about how she was killed on Halloween night.

The 18-year-old died in hospital Monday after she was found unconscious and severely injured near the railroad tracks that run through the small Okanagan town of Armstrong.

At an RCMP press conference Friday, spokesman Gord Molendyk said that police are holding back the results of an autopsy completed a day earlier because they don't want to compromise the investigation.

He did, however, release more details of Van Diest's movements on the night she was killed.

Investigators now believe that the slain teen was last heard from at 6 p.m., 10 minutes after she left her family home to meet up with someone. She was dressed in a zombie costume at the time.

Friends say the last word from Van Diest was a text message to her boyfriend reading, "I'm being creeped."

Molendyk told reporters that her phone was found along the train tracks at 7:30 p.m., a little more than an hour she was was discovered lying gravely injured in a bushy area about 10 feet from the railway line.

Van Diest's family says that her boyfriend, Colton Luttmerding, was the one to make the gruesome discovery, but his mother says he is not ready to speak to the media.

In an attempt to solicit more tips in the murder, RCMP set up a roadblock Thursday evening near the place where Van Diest was found. Officers showed drivers Van Diest's picture, and asked if they had seen anything unusual on Halloween.

A suspect has yet to be identified, but more than 40 officers are working on the investigation.

Just found it!

Just to clarify she was found 10 feet from the track line, not the road.
Must make better notes.

Found an earlier article, probably previously posted, but wanted to take note of the following from this article. The measurement from tracks to body and in following clip noting b.f. played in a band, hmm- what kind of music?
http://news.nationalpost.com/2011/11/02/cell-phone-helps-slain-b-c-teenagers-family-find-body/
"Family, friends and RCMP officers found the teen lying in the bushes dressed as a zombie about three metres from the train tracks"

“I have seen no reason that anyone would attack her. … There were rumours of a stalker, but I don’t believe they are true.”

Adding to the mystery is that the gruesome death happened on Halloween, the timeline for so many movie deaths."

“She loved horror movies,” her cousin said. “Halloween was her favourite holiday.”

Van Diest had a boyfriend and played in the school band, she added."

Does anyone know if LE can tell who has been looking at FB pictures in the past?

It seems a very big coincidence to me, and the irony is thick, that:

1. There is a picture of Taylor standing in front of a poster on "how to kill a zombie".
2. There is a picture of Taylor laying in what appears to be a casket, with weird organs or something, all over her, from Hallowe'en 2010.

I mean, these 2 things alone, are horribly thick with irony, with the manner in which she died.

It just seems extremely remote to me, that she would be a completely random victim. I don't know.

If the girl was totally a random target, isn't it a little ironic that she died in such a manner, on Hallowe'en, dressed as a Zombie????
