''Montreal police are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing 17-year-old boy.
Tian Feng was last seen on Monday near the corner of Sherbrooke Street West and Cavendish Boulevard in the Côte-des-Neiges-Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough.
Police say he is new to the country and does not speak English or French. Investigators and his family have reason to fear for his safety.

Feng is 1.8 metres (5'11'') tall, weighs 68 kilograms (150 lbs), has black hair and black eyes.
He was last seen wearing a black denim coat, a black sweater and black and white sneakers.
Anyone with information regarding this disappearance is asked to call 911 or visit their local police station.''

Well, there are hundred of thousands of Chinese in Canada, do it won't be long before he runs into someone who does speak his language.

If he doesn't speak English or French, what is he doing in Canada? Visiting friends?

And why do his family have reason to fear for his safety'??

Was he being trafficked?? Sold into modern slavery or servitude?

Where can he be? More info in this article:

"A mother recently returned from China is desperate to find her 17-year-old son, who has been mysteriously missing for nearly three weeks.

“I have to get him back at any cost, I’m willing to trade my own life,” Sujing says in Mandarin, pushing Nie between two sobs.

Yuan Tian, his son-in-law by marriage, translated the interview into English. He explains that they haven’t seen Feng Tian since October 17th. Only three months in Montreal, the young man speaks neither French nor English, which makes him fear for his safety.

“He’s very shy. He doesn’t have any friends as far as we know. He might be lost,” the Concordia University engineering student said worriedly.

In Montreal for six years, Yuan Tian arranged the visit of his cousin Feng, his mother, his 10-year-old brother and rented an apartment near him in Montreal’s Notre-Dame-de-Grace district.

Warm milk before bed

Mme You were at home on October 17th at 9:30 pm when you received a final text message from your son, who had prepared some hot milk and was about to go to bed.

But the next morning she did not find him in her room.

She was initially worried to learn that he went to classes without his bag knowing it was an exam. Then, unable to reach him, anxiety took on a new dimension.

Yuan Tian believes that her cousin may have texted her mother and gone for a walk to ease her stress.

“I don’t know what happened. He may have lost his cards, wallet and may not be able to come back,” he worries.

A teenager’s routine is well established, he points out. Every weekday morning, he took public transportation to his English classes at the YMCA International Language School downtown before spending dinner and the afternoon at his cousin’s house. In the evening, he returned to the other apartment rented for his mother, his brother and himself for dinner and sleep.

On October 17, she was last spoken to at her home on Sherbrooke Street West at around 4:30 p.m.

“When he left my house, we talked about his day, lessons,” she recalls.

Fearing for his safety

The family informed the police, who issued a search warrant.

Every evening, Sujing Nie goes from Saint-Jacques Street to Chinatown to look for her son, while Yuan Tian hunts with his friends. They put up Feng’s posters everywhere, to no avail.

They obtained video from the police from a surveillance camera that showed a young man walking on the pedestrian bridge of Highway 15 near Saint-Jacques Street.

“We’re not 100% sure it’s him,” Yuan Tian says, showing the video.

As of Monday, the family hasn’t heard from Feng for exactly three weeks.

“Because of his recent arrival in the country, investigators and his relatives have reason to fear for his safety,” read a search notice from Montreal police.

''Tian Feng, a 17-year-old boy last seen in Montreal over three weeks ago, is still missing.

His family has spent the past month desperately searching for answers, all while navigating a new country and new languages.

Feng moved from China over the summer to join his mother, Sujing Nie, in Montreal. According to Nie, her son was still acclimatizing to the city and doesn't speak English very well.''

''Speaking to CTV News through an interpreter on Saturday, Nie described the past couple weeks as unbearable.

"I'm too sad to sleep well," she said. "I take a break for a few minutes, I wake up again. I'm too anxious."

Feng's routine in Montreal is steady, she said. He would go to his daily language classes at the YMCA on Stanley Street and knew his way around public transport -- but he never ventured outside the classes of his immediate neighbourhood.''

''Feng left early to go and study for a test. It appears he made it back to his home on Melrose Avenue; signs indicate he warmed up a cup of milk for his mother in the microwave when he arrived, something he routinely did.
But Feng wasn't there when his family came home.
He left his I.D. and bank cards behind. All he had was his cell phone, which is no longer traceable, presumably because the battery died.''

''Vigil to be held for teen newly arrived from China who has been missing for weeks

Susan Schwartz • Montreal Gazette Nov 14, 2022
''A candlelight vigil for Feng Tian, a 17-year-old youth who disappeared Oct. 17 from the apartment he shared with relatives barely three months after arriving from China, will be held Monday at 7 p.m. in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, not far from where the youth was last seen.''

''The vigil will take place in a private parking lot at the southeast corner of Melrose Ave. and Upper Lachine Rd., 5770 Upper Lachine Rd. Tricia Bartley, an N.D.G. mother of young adult children who organized the event, will speak; the missing boy’s mother, Sujing Nie, will speak through an interpreter; and Peter McQueen, Projet Montréal councillor for the borough of Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, will speak as well.''

How, she asked, does a 17-year-old boy vanish without a trace?

“Given his character, this is a sweet boy — kind, shy, motivated,” she said. “If this was my child, I would want everybody looking, knocking on every door.”
Bartley said she intends the Monday evening event as “a community gathering of support and solidarity.”

Noting previous cases of students scammed into ''going missing'', not a likely scenario, but (ironically) it is one that offers hope in this particular case, imo, speculation, fwiw.

''Victims are asked to rent a hotel room and avoid any interaction on social media or with the police, under threat of retaliation against their family in China.
The victim remains in constant contact with the suspects. The suspects contact the victim’s family and send the video explaining that their child has been kidnapped for ransom.
Once the student’s families have the faked kidnapping video, the scammers use it to extort ransom money from their family in China.''

Aug. 2022
''According to police, there were 12 incidents in which Asian people received phone calls where the scammers present themselves to be employees of courier companies or law enforcement agencies.''

Oct 2022
''Regional police have issued a warning about an extortion scam targeting Asian students at local post-secondary institutions.''

''Montreal police plan to set up a command post on Wednesday as they continue to search for a 17-year-old Notre-Dame-de-Grâce boy who has been missing since Oct. 17.''

On Wednesday, police investigators will be at that location between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and are asking anyone who may have information about the disappearance to meet them there.

Anyone with information can also dial 911 or anonymously contact Info-Crime Montreal at 514-393-1133 or online.''

''Police investigate claim of secret Chinese police stations in Canada

RCMP looking into ‘reports of criminal activity’ surrounding facilities allegedly used to pressure Chinese nationals abroad''

''One of the main things the officers working at these stations do, according to the report, is keep an eye on Chinese nationals living in Canada. There are very real worries that they are bullying Chinese people who simply want to live freely in Canada.''

''Reached Wednesday afternoon, police told CTV News that they hadn’t yet narrowed the search down to a particular neighbourhood.

"He could be anywhere right now," said spokesperson Jeanne Drouin. "All hypotheses are on the table."

''Montreal residents are invited to share any information on Tian with police by calling 911.

Investigators are also unsure of why he went missing. Tian is said to have left home without any ID, carrying only keys and his cellphone, which has since gone offline.''

''Tricia Bartley, who has been closely helping the Tian family, said he had been enrolled in French classes, and that he was excited to attend high school and obtain a driver’s licence.''
''He had dreams of becoming a police officer, she said, adding that he enjoyed going on walks and that he liked to spend time in the Old Port.''

"The police need help from the community in order to have a lead to move in a direction that will be helpful."

''Chinese-Montrealer Feng Tian was last seen walking more than a month ago on Saint-Jacques Street eastbound from Decarie Boulevard on October 17.

Tian is a newcomer to Canada from China and does not speak French or English. He is 180 cm (5′ 11”) tall, weighs 68 kg (150 lbs), has black hair and eyes. He is dressed in a black denim jacket, a black sweater and white and black sneakers.''

''Sujing says her son liked it in Canada, he was learning the language and planning on getting his drivers license, something like this is out of the ordinary for him''

“He doesn’t speak a lot of English yet. He knows the basics, but he doesn’t know enough to communicate effectively yet,” describes Sujing. While she says Tian did not have many friends in Canada, she does not believe him to be depressed or have any underlying mental health issues.”

''Tian kept in contact with his friends in China via the messaging app WeChat, but his mother says after October 14, three days before his disappearance, Tian stopped communicating with them.''

No matter where you are and what circumstances you are, if you’re safe, please come back to me. Please come home. I will always be waiting for you as your mother,” she pleads''.

Anyone who believes they have information on the whereabouts of Feng Tian is asked to call 911 or contact Info-Crime Montreal anonymously and confidentially at 514 393-1133 or online

''The SPVM have announced that a $20,000 reward is being offered for information on the whereabouts of Feng Tian, a 17-year-old Montreal boy who has been missing since Oct. 17, 2022. The reward is courtesy of an anonymous $20,000 donation to Sun Youth.

Tian was last seen in the Côte-des-Neiges—Notre-Dame-de-Grâce borough. Relatives and investigators have reason to fear for his safety.

“The police investigation had established that Feng Tian had been seen for the last time near the Square Sainte-Élisabeth park, at the corner of Saint-Jacques and Delinelle streets in the Sud-Ouest borough. He would have walked on rue Saint-Jacques eastbound from boulevard Décarie.

“Tian is new to the country and does not speak French or English. He is 180 cm (5′ 11”), weighs 68 kg (150 lb), has black hair and eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was dressed in a black denim coat, a black sweater and white and black sneakers.”

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Feng Tian can call the SPVM at 438-354-6803.''

  • 100 days since NDG teen went missing
  • ''Bartley says the family, particularly Sujing “is very grateful for the generous reward that came forward,” the promise of money perhaps stirring someone's memory or motivation to offer information and added that family members are in daily contact with police who she says “have been doing anything and everything, 100%” following every lead, hunch, anything.

The family has met twice with the Chinese consulate although that has not moved the file forward in any way, she says, adding the Canadian authorities are doing everything they possibly can. As for ideas that he made his own way back to China, Bartley says that is not possible because “he doesn’t speak English or French, he had no identification, no wallet, it's not something he could have done.”

“But still, how does someone absolutely just disappear? I rack my brain over this every single day… The family is still holding out hope and I still hold hope that he will come home.”

Indeed, as Lachine resident Sandrine Ruel said at the November vigil, as Feng’s mother Sujing Nie stood silently nearby, clutching a candle and stifling tears, “they are our children, we can’t allow them to become ghosts.”

Noting on the off chance anybody at one of these secret Chinese LE stations might know of TF's whereabouts, imo speculation, fwiw.

''MONTREAL - Quebec RCMP say they are investigating two alleged secret police stations operated by Chinese authorities in the province.

The federal police force confirmed Thursday its Integrated National Security Team has opened investigations into the suspected police stations in Montreal and Brossard, a suburb just south of the city.

Sgt. Charles Poirier says Canadians of Chinese origin were victims of activities carried out by the stations, adding that any type of intimidation, harassment or targeting of diaspora communities will not be tolerated.

Poirier says the RCMP are carrying out actions aimed at detecting and disrupting “foreign state-backed criminal activities,” which may threaten the safety of persons living in Canada.''

According to the post above his mother states that he stopped contact with friends in China on WeChat 3 days before he disappeared. This does not bode well to me. He may have been struggling with depression or he could have run into one of the aforementioned scams…but no one has come forward with a ransom.
