Police search for woman, baby after blood and forceps found in Mississauga park
"Police are reaching out to the public for help tracking down a mother and a newborn child who investigators say may be in medical distress.

According to police, officers received a call about a “suspicious” incident at Sugar Maple Woods Park in Mississauga at around 3:50 p.m. on Monday.

When police arrived on scene, they found blood, forceps, and other evidence “consistent with childbirth.”

"We had officers check the area and also our canine unit attended and the victim wasn’t located,” Const. Iryna Yashnyk told CP24 on Tuesday.

“We have concerns for the mother and child’s wellbeing and are hoping that any witnesses will come forward with information.”

No kidding! You can't just buy them at the corner store.

You can go to a surgical supply store and buy items. There are a few of them in the TO area.

I'm wondering if by 'forceps' they mean a clamp, similar to scissors not obstetrical forceps.

Its a bit cold, at freezing, to be delivering in a park! Might be a very young mother who has hidden her pregnancy and is afraid of being found out.

Nearly 22 hrs ago, not good.

"Police have set up a mobile command centre at the scene and have brought in two drones to search the park."

Did someone steal this woman's baby?

This seems like a real possibility - google maps shows the park is very near Credit Valley Hospital - the first thing that came up on a google search of the hospital was 'having your baby at the Credit Valley Hospital'.

Was she on her way there? If so, she could have been in labor - which seems like the time when one might need forceps.

Either way, what a terrible situation.

If there is a pregnant woman that is missing, you'd think someone would have reported that already?

Could it be an illegal immigrant who doesn't understand the Canadian system? As a non-Canadian, she would be responsible for hospital delivery costs, but her child would automatically receive Canadian citizenship. Maybe an illegal immigrant would be afraid of being in contact with any government organization such as heath care.
