Casey Kasem has passed away ~ Rest in peace, Casey

She won't allow his adult children, his brother or his friends to see him. He is incapacitated. He can't even speak for himself. Scary much? Who does this?

What, is she concerned he could change his mind and leave part of his $80M to his kids?

Every minute counts for this family, yet she plays "keep-away." I'm praying they get to see him before he dies.

Some people are vain and may not want to be seen at their worst.
The spouse in such cases are in a difficult position.
Damned if you do and damned if you don't,
but would most likely try and follow their loved one's wishes.

Prayers of peace, God Bless.

I knew someone who kept her husband from his family and it wasn't at all about money, it was all about control.

Hoping for the best. I grew up listening to Casey on the radio. His voice is a part of my memories.

This is a heartbreaking story and I have him in my prayers.

Here's another from 2007:

Jean Kasem has hit back at her husband's children from his first marriage and claims she and Casey, pictured here in 2007, have been helping to fund their lifestyles for many years

article-2462101-189DE68900000578-479_634x358.jpg

In October Kasem's children and other friends staged a very public protest outside his home to publicize their concerns for his well-being and to accuse their step-mother Jean Kasem, 59, of blocking them from seeing him

They're asking us to keep an eye out for him in the northwest.

http://www.nwcn.com/news/-Radio-icon-Casey-Kasem-missing-259051621.html

"I have no idea where he is," Marcus said...Marcus said in court that Jean Kasem had every right to move her husband as she saw fit. He argued that Murphy no longer had jurisdiction over Casey Kasem because he had been moved, but the judge rejected the argument.

I can just hear the conversation between Marcus and Jean Kasem in my head, him advising her of ways to elude the Court's jurisdiction, listing examples of locations...."but don't tell me."

She has gone to great lengths to keep everyone away from him. How pathological. I can't think of one honorable reason for to do this. It's outrageous and cruel. This bothered me when I heard about it last year. But this is pure crazy.

And is she "missing", too? They should check the French Riviera. I doubt she's by Casey's side, unless she's desperately standing guard while watching the clock tick.

2014 Picture of Casey with his wife.

Wow! they both look great!

I don't think there is any way that photo can be from 2014, since Kasem has been sick for quite a while. Can you link to where you got it Stormy?

This article is from December of last year:
They finally got to see their ailing dad last week, but Casey Kasem's kids from his first marriage say static with their stepmom remains a big problem.
Adult kids Kerri Kasem, 41, and Mike Kasem, 40, told CNN's Piers Morgan Wednesday that they only got 20 minutes with the Top 40 radio icon last week after fighting for months to get visitation.
They said legal wrangling with estranged stepmom Jean Kasem prevented them from describing Casey's condition at the secret off-site location, but they were adamant the whole setup was far from ideal.
Kasem, 81, has advanced Parkinson's disease and started missing his weekly trips to see his three eldest kids and other relatives when he lost much of his mobility over the summer, Kerri previously told the Daily News.

I read the whole article. Could you please tell me where they say what you said above? :blushing:

I see that the kids "think" he may have been taken to an Indian Reservation in Washington State, but then Jean's lawyer says they are no longer in the US.

Yes, that's all. I made that comment because a media station posted that on Twitter and I retweeted it. I could have been more clear.

I really thought it was me missing something. Wouldn't be the first time. :floorlaugh:

Thanks Kimster!

I am sure it has been mentioned upthread, but I would not be entirely surprised if he had headed abroad where voluntary euthanasia/assisted suicide is legal. It is a hot topic frequently discussed within the parkinsons community (I have relatives suffering with the disease). This may be out of left field - I know nothing of Mr. Kasem other than his fabulous radio voice, and I do not want to start a moral discussion - just adding my two cents as this reminded me of some local matters (i.e. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/quebec-couple-travelled-to-switzerland-so-husband-could-die-1.1396907).

When I read the headline this is what immediately came to mind for me.

ETA: Just wanted to add that I don't think this counts as an "explanation" -- there are still remaining issues of his wife's control, being severed from his children, etc. Just contributing to the conversation as a whole :)

So... if he's on an indian reservation, would that give this lawyer the legal room to say he's "not in the US" while he's on the reservation, because of the sovereign nature of the reservation lands? I'm sure someone else has suggested it.

Interesting thought, but not to give his children and brother the opportunity to see him once before, if only on a pretense if she didn't want to debate it? What person would do this unless they completely lacked compassion? And one would need to be compassionate to go to the lengths of euthanasia. (Without compassion, it would be called something else, IYKWIM.)

IMO, this looks like a classic sign of abuse: isolate, deny access, control.

Assisted suicide is legal in Washington and Oregon so if CK is able to communicate in any way, he would not need to be taken out of the country for that.

There are definitely people who think this would be the case so I can see them trying it. (It's been attempted before.) However, Indian reservations in Washington have agreements with state and local governments to honor and enforce each others' laws. Since he's not a tribal member, I can't imagine any tribe wanting to get in the middle of something like this.
