Very possible. Both my parents were victims of Parkinson's. Their neurologists told me over the years that Parkinson's is a syndrome and affects people differently. My Dad had the rigidness and moderate dementia; Mom was totally incapacitated for the last 2 years of her life (bed bound, voice almost gone) with a touch of dementia.
For 100% confirmation, however, an autopsy would need to be performed.
Things like this can either bring a family together or blow it apart, the latter of which happened over my mother with my siblings.
