This is a transcript, of a recent NG show, and it is about the Touch DNA findings in the Ramsey case, but there is a lot of information about what Touch DNA is:

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0807/09/ng.01.html

I think if they were getting toys and clothing, yesterday, they may have been looking for touch DNA, and that would mean they found DNA in the trunk stain and need an exemplar.

Read that and wonder "who" came back and told him and did this person bring the gas cans back? Mystery is not solved yet! :)

Exactly. I think LE is trying to find prints or DNA to verify that that person did steal the cans. If they didn't it means grandpa got the cans back from the car.

Yup, saw that show and mentioned the "touch DNA" in earlier posts for the reason why CSI was at the Anthony's yesterday! Thanks for the transcript link. :)

True... but how could anyone not think they'd be upset that something from a LOCKED shed was taken????

Probably because they left all the other really high dollar tools, mower, weed eater, etc. and they had every intention of returning the cans with gas and repairing the damage too. :)

but why would Casey always be hauling the cans off, if it was just to fill her car? She would pour the gas into her car, put the cans back in the shed and be on her merry way, no?

this is a good point. you all have done a great job extrapolating this.

so, let me make sure i have this straight: no one has seen caylee since june 15th, the gas cans were stolen somewhere around june 24th, the anthonys' were pissed at casey for leaving with caylee at some point prior to july 15th (see: cindy's july 3 myspace post; the 911 call that picked up cindy saying "i've given you a month..."), casey parties her face off for the the month of june, the gas cans magically reappear sometime between june 24th and july 15th.

it makes no sense to report something stolen and then somehow get the stolen items back in less than a month - unless, of course, the person who stole the gas cans knew the robbery victim (i.e. casey) and could return them. it seems logical that the gas cans were in the trunk when george picked the car up - which would also explain why he pulled LE to the side and said "we are afraid something may have happened to caylee..."

from the gas cans themselves, LE can lift fingerprints, dirt (from either the anthonys' backyard or elsewhere), and perhaps dna from another source (if they were used to pour gas on something or someone). i read that everything confiscated from the anthony home yesterday came from outside the house - meaning the backyard or shed. this is intriguing....

Trust me...I DID read that George said it was a neighborhood kid. No mention if they returned the cans in the article tho.

Yes, it seems a simplification of an actual big event (afterall the burglary was reported to police and included on the Caylee Updates listing for the OCSO website).

I am not thinking LE came back for the cans at all. I am thinking LE came back for other things for testing for Caylee's DNA, not for the person taking the cans.

By now, George told LE who took the cans.

I just have one question then I will go back to being quiet and reading this forum...after I leave for the day as I am so torn up over this case as we all are......Please somebody tell me....in the grand scheme of all this...how on earth do you "claim" your child has been missing for 31 days and you show no evidence of terror, fear, love anything during that time? How do your parents accept this and not wonder WTH? She was searching on her own all that time and her change in attitude was none??????Until this is explained I just can't handle it.

I either watched or saw the video and I never heard George say it was the neighbor. Sooooooooo I need to see it in print that Geroge said it was the neighbor. Sorry!

C'mon....then why didn't they leave a thank you note and and an "IOUa new lock"

A cold-heart!

The gas cans would be crucial to a case like this. LE would want to completely check out whether the story of how they were stolen and brought back were true. If ends up being the truth, they move on.

i agree that george must have told LE his suspicions about who took the cans or where he found them after the robbery occurred by now. they may be testing, however, if the dirt matches another sample or if any other fingerprints can be found on the cans other than the ones george may have informed them about...

Why would they wait for weeks to get Caylee's DNA when testing has been ongoing with the stain in the trunk and should be out this week? I guess I am not following you because to think they do not already have Caylee's DNA to be testing against at this point would make no sense. If they didn't have it when they got the DNA from the trunk, the next search warrant would have been to obtain it immediately from her hairbrush or other item at that time.

Why do I get the feeling there was some sort of cover up story plan A that was abandoned and that's why we have so many circumstances that make no sense? IE: the "abandoned" car "stolen" by POI- perhaps someone was trying to imply at some point it was stolen by someone else and now the gas cans. Not sure....

Also, I can't be the only one who found all of Cindy's 911 calls odd. Her tone and phrasing was off. It sounded part hysterical but also quite phony. I don't think it makes sense that POI would sit in the car/house waiting for police to arrive and arrest her for theft.

Yes, I agree. They need to know who stole them and how they mysteriously returned to his shed.

Right and don't forget it was discovered HERE FIRST that the gas cans were stolen.
Fox talking about gas cans NOW.
