Is that a code that is specific to the Orlando municipality? Because Florida code requires isolation fencing and self closing with a self locking device (for inground pools). As I understand it, all that's required for above ground pools above a certain height is that the steps or ladder be removable. http://law.justia.com/codes/florida/2010/TitleXXXIII/chapter515/515_29.html

The Anthony's pool was not directly accessible from the house. It looks like you had to go out on their screened lanai and then into the backyard to access the pool.

Not sure about that, though.

ETA: I do believe the photo is Caylee but the aspect is off in some versions of it.

you are correct! I didn't even catch that!! For above ground, all that is required is that the ladder is removable. The statue is FS 515.29 (2) Residential swimming pool barrier requirements, for the above ground. Mine is an in ground. Like I said, when I had mine built, I didn't have to have any of this in place, but did anyway. In fact, I have a fence, the cage, the barrier, the higher handles (on all screen doors on the cage too) & the enclosed lanai. When I do decide to sell, that will be a major plus for me.. if the economy were to ever pick up...

My Analysis

Below is my photoshop review of the photo I found online. As you see, I do photography and I went through the photo on my photoshop program, down to the pixel to see where it might be doctored. This is just my opinion and I could be wrong. But if you want my jpeg so you can view it yourself and look at the details I show, email me and I'll send it to you.
Sorry I had to put the picture here, but I have no other place to show it. It will only be up for a short while.
You can copy if off this page or email me for the straight jpeg,if you can't read my identification of photo "FLAWS #1 through #4". Susan

Wow! I have no words if this bunch were nervy enough to enter a doctored photo into evidence.

IMHO, in response to post #121, I think there are some photo differences. Keep in mind, I don't know if furniture has been moved, or replaced with new furniture.

1. The difference is distance between the left and right photo seem significantly different.

2. Caylee seems to be much closer to the cabinet on the left picture than she would be is she had appeared in the right hand picture

3. The distance between the door frame and the cabinet in the picture on the left appears much shorter than the photo on the right.

4. If we are to line up the decor circled on the left (flower type), this would appear to come to about her rear end on the left. If you compare it to the photo on the left (and also assume it would come up to her rear end, she would appear much smaller.

5. I also question the height of the patio chair. On the left hand side, she would appear to be taller than the patio chair. On the right hand side - not so much.

Maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me, but something seems askewed.

Thank you! :)

WTH? Is it just me or, compared to the light switch on the wall, does Caylee now look extremely short?:waitasec:
These photos are hard to figure out. (sigh)

My 2cents...... This looks like a photo from a video. A screen shot. To me this explains the blurriness, odd appearance.
She doesn't look abnormally tall to me, she seems to be age/height appropriate. My youngest daughter is 6 months younger than Caylee but is very petite. My 7 year old daughter was at the very top of the growth chart until she was 4.5 years old.
All acceptable to the pediatrician.

...a screen shot from a video or a phone pic. Keep in mind phone cameras a couple years ago weren't nearly as clear as today. That technology is racing along.

Good point! :)

ETA~ But Caylee would have been an infant a few years ago. :)

I think the pic is Caylee, and I have compared the legs, etc. to other pics and it looks like the same child. The fact that HLN is still showing it to viewers as evidence pics means to me there is no problem with the pic.

I agree, it is Caylee but what does it really prove, she can open the door?!
My dogs can open the slider but there's no drowning or murder to bother us...they can climb the ladder, too--but they've yet to drown. *shrug*

One more thing why would you take this picture? Why would you take a picture of a little girl without her face showing?

I may just be in the odd about this, but I have quite a few pictures of my daughter from baby to current, she's 15, of her back. Most of the times they were taken to get the back of the outfit or to see how her hair is done up in the back. So I don't find it odd that they took a picture of Caylee showing her backside.

I agree. :) I think for "whatever" reason, the defense is trying to prove something that isn't important. But *IF* the photo was doctored up, then why?:waitasec:

everyone saying this is photoshopped, have any of you actually ever used photoshop?

I use it all the time. I used to work for a studio that did photo restoration. I can tell you that there are some very talented people who can do just about anything with a photo (I was just worked on backgrounds). With that said, I do not see this as being Photoshopped.

LOL - I want a re-do!

It almost looks like a photo clipped from a video (as someone mentioned before). Do I believe it was doctored? I just don't know.

I tried to go a step further and make Caylee smaller to match the slider/door frame/and bottom frame (about 49%). In doing so, it does appear that she would fit the length to grab the door handle -- while still keeping the flower symbol on the cabinet (to the right) about to her rear end.

However, the slider handle does seem a tad higher -- but not by much (could just be my measurements. HOWEVER, THERE IS STILL A DIFFERENCE IN HEIGHT TO THE CABINET. See Left vs. Right.

Does this make any sense?

Seriously? I am no Casey fan, but I take a million pics of my kids and probably have tons of them from the backside. I actually have one of my daughter and our cat standing at the sliding glass door (not facing me) because I thought it was so cute. Little kids are cute from behind and for some people it's the moment in time they are capturing for memories for THEMSELVES (not expecting millions of people to critique it). Maybe they thought Caylee was being cute trying to open the door in her cute sundress and snapped the pic.

Personally I think the pic is real, but that the door was already cracked open and Caylee was struggling to open it more, which is why they probably thought it was a cute moment to take the pic.

That photo proves nothing- it by definition is a "still" of time. That door could have been left open to allow air in and the girl simply went up to the door and put her hand on the handle.

I don't think that could possibly be the same piece of furniture.Look at the height as compared to the light switch. It is just a different hutch.

BBM:

I think the pic of Caylee is in the A's bedroom. The sliding door off the living room doesn't have tile in front of it.

My opinion on the photo is this. We again are dealing with a very small compressed Jpeg of a vid capture that at the most would have a 640x480 resolution. Without having access to the original content, we will never know for sure that it's been doctored. As it has been said, this is a still photo and proves absolutely nothing. Caylee may have tried to move the door and was unable.

I think so too. But both have the same flowery pattern on the side -- which is very odd...or quite a koinkydink...or a kerfluffle... How do we explain the same patio chair though on the patio? I'm completely....um...kerflunkled.

I have too much time on my hands :)

The picture is real, it is Caylee and she could open the door. Doesn't mean she opened the door to her death.
