He had a van, that's what he picked up Kenia in. My guess is the van died because he took the other car to Austin, the one LE said he stole. I haven't seen anything saying the van was searched in Ft Collins, just that it was searched in Denver when the area he rented for his business was searched back in April. A Jeep was searched in Ft Collins/Larimer County, it was on his grandparents' property. His grandmother says he didn't have a car this summer (when he was in Ft Collins, after he moved in with his dad June 30th), but that he biked. One story does say the Jeep was broken down. But another story reported that friends said Travis drove the Jeep, although it didn't specify when. So who knows. And who knows if he had access to his dad's or grandma's cars at some point. We do know LE said he stole Tillman's car but maybe at other times he could have used a family car. It's all a little confusing.

Very interesting about the Craigslist guy. Hopefully LE can figure out who he is. Maybe he is Travis but there are a lot of other unsavory characters in the Denver area, it's a large metropolis.

Police have focused on Forbes, searching his Denver workplace, Deby's Bakery and Cafe, and his white van, according to a search warrant affidavit.

An employee of a neighboring business told police that he saw two or three men standing behind the bakery on the night of April 1, burning materials in a 55-gallon barrel, the affidavit said. The employee said a white cargo van was parked by the men in such a way that it blocked his view.

Police took a yellow rubber glove and a metal barrel into evidence, the warrant stated.

Hallmark said Forbes had contacted him through Craigslist. He agreed to rent a room in a home on Cherry Wood Road in central east Austin for $450 a month. At one point, Hallmark had trouble reaching Forbes by cellphone.

FORT MYERS - FL
The search continues for a Colorado woman missing now for nearly a week. Amy Ahonen has ties here to Southwest Florida, where she worked for eight years.

Her Jeep was found alongside a remote highway outside Denver. In it were her car keys, purse and cell phone.
"We just want her to come back," said friend Kara Hardt.
Local sheriff's office bloodhounds traced a scent down a hill to a raging creek. But, there were no signs of her past that.

"There could have been an animal in distress along the side of the road. She would definitely do that. Or hop out to take a picture," said Ahonen's friend Katrina Hopkins.

"[She] would help anybody. As we suspect, might have helped someone on the side of the road that she didn't even know," added Hardt.

Amy Ahonen was so scared by a man who replied to her ad looking for a roommate in Denver she immediately took it down, her sister said.

Once again we get this conflicting information stating the LE did contact her and she told them she did not need help. I wonder which story is true? Did they just run her tag in...or did they actually speak with her?

Since that's a British tabloid I wouldn't expect it to have the most up to date or accurate news on the story. I think the latest account is that the trooper didn't speak with her but just tagged the car.

But on the topic of conflicting info or opinions...here's another viewpoint on whether she intended to hike or not, from a friend who searched yesterday:

"I'm thinking she probably went for a hike because everything was found under her seat. So it seemed like it was planned," said Rebecca Shands, Ahonen's work friend.

I don't think that makes sense if her keys were in the car and of course there's the issue of her not taking her backpack.

More questions than answers.....

Wonder if she kept an appointment book - would think so considering her business - that might shed some light on what she was planning, whom she had recently met... don't want to tunnel vision this being just the one person being discussed, as likely as it sounds...

Of course cell phone records need to be checked...

Confused about her ad for a roommate - to what extent did she make contact with the man who upset her? Did she leave her phone number in the ad? Specify women only?

Cannot imagine a predator staging something along side the road to get a gal to stop - how would perp know who was going to pass by, unless there is something unique about where this happened and a predator could see using binoculars... more than one perp?

Car taken for forensics? Position of driver's seat (correct for Amy?)....

Probably too late to check for other footprints, tire tracks...

Any boyfriends, former bf's, etc.... all the usual suspects...

Fifteen different teams of volunteers searched a 13 mile area of the canyon, centered around a trail known as Mayhem Gulch, on Saturday and Sunday morning. No evidence of Ahonen has been found so far.

I promised myself I wasn't going to get hooked up in another missing persons case after what the Holly Bobo case has done to me emotionally, but sigh. I just have a very bad feeling about this one from the get go though. :( It actually reminds me Sarah (I can't remember her last name - sorry!) who LE said committed suicide by drowning herself in a pond in NJ a few months ago. People said she was happy right up to that day, and she left her car with everything in it unlocked, too. Not saying that's what happened here, but it sure brought that rushing back into my mind. I find it really odd, even out in a remote area of CO, that one would wander off leaving all their belongings in their car, and unlocked. Why? Wouldn't, if you were going on a hike, you at least want your cell phone in case you got injured and needed help? It doesn't make sense to me, and she seems like an intelligent woman from what I read. I know, intelligent and common sense don't always go hand in hand, but still... somethings not right and I have a bad feeling. :( I hope I'm wrong.

FYI - it was Sarah Townsend

I can relate to feelings about getting involved in another missing person's case....

Don't think Amy's is a suicide. Also don't want to get caught up in tunnel-vision focusing upon the person just released from jail (as likely as that is) since the timing might just be a coincidence...

Or it could be she was unsure of the situation so she stashed her stuff under the seat before exiting.

Perhaps someone flagged her down for help, it was reported in a news item that she was seen by a witness at 2pm with a male person on the embankment.

I also thought it was mentioned that she did not have her hiking stuff with her, it was found in her apt.

What kind of Jeep did Amy drive?

What kind of Jeep did Travis drive?

Amy's was reportedly gray...or black...)

I haven't found any description, pictures or video of the Jeep on Travis' property. I have seen it referred to as a Jeep Cherokee... but I don't trust media reports of the make/model/color of a vehicle unless there is a picture or video with it.

I'm pretty sure this video is actually a picture of Amy's Jeep and it would be a Black Jeep Liberty. It does not appear to be any type of law enforcement vehicle.

Not that it's valuble information other than it being curious, I found that our missing person has a LinkedIn profile:

http://www.linkedin.com/pub/amy-ahonen/1a/93a/7b5

And her own web-site: http://innercircleenvironments.com/

Since Amy appeared to essentially own the business above, I don't think it's the one she was laid off from. But her sister also doesn't mention a NEW Interior Design job either.

Amy switched from her previous job to to the one above in June/July 2010. Maybe she was laid off and decided to start her own business? Maybe she was "worried" because of the pressures of running her own business? That makes more sense I think.

http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/28505446/detail.html

The woman's sister, Andrea Ahonen, said Highway 6 is one of Amy's favorite scenic drives. But Amy didn't show up for work Friday night at Red Lobster, and that wasn't like her, the sister said.

Andrea Ahonen said Amy had been worried after being laid off from an interior design job last year, but she wasn't despondent.

Might explain why she had begun looking for a roommate which led to her placing an ad on Craigslist... which led to her being contacted by the man who upset her so...

I wonder if there is more to this than we know, if she was successful and or have a relatively good career it may have been quite a shock to the system to then have to work at Red Lobster which I assume is a food establishment?

I'm not judging anyone, but it seems odd, she has the web-site, but I know for experience that it can be hard to make a buck in one's chosen field sometimes.

I also wonder if she was single or perhaps had a recent breakdown in a relationship hence the Craigslist roomy thing as well.

This information seems like a backward step for her, or was she just trying to survive these harsh times.

Having a turbulent time can put people under a lot of pressure.
