The way I read the news articles, it seems her camper van was outside Cripple Creek, not in Cripple Creek. Here is a link to a Denver 7 News Story that indicates she was in Teller County but in the unincorporated area of Cripple Creek. My understanding is that is why Teller Co Sheriff's Office received the 911 call and first responded. Cripple Creek police were called in by TCSO to assist. I'm not sure when that picture of her camper van was taken and it may have been in Cripple Creek when it was taken. But, IMHO, her van was outside the city when she was attacked.
Great point. That's why I said I think I may have found the location and asked if anyone has seen mention of a specific RV Park. I haven't used an RV in decades but, if one is staying in one long term, they would need water, sewer and electrical hookups.

My heart goes out to Briena, her family, and oh my world, the brave Ida... who might never see her human again. Imagine being in your safe space, with a dog, and having to withstand this brutal attack.

I hope whoever did this faces all the consequences, thank you Dotr for sharing this case.
When Ida is recovered more I hope someone can take her to the hospital to lay in bed with Briena. You would be amazed at how much this could help the recovery of both of them. As a former ICU nurse I can say this from first-hand experience.

In October 2023, her Facebook page says she was working as a porter at Colorado Grande Casino. There's also a picture of her camper.
RSBM - I missed this in Knox's post above. So, in October 2023 she was working at the Casino and that's when Briena posted the picture of her RV. Do we know if she was still working at the casino?

Did anyone see a reference to Briena having a car, motorcycle, moped, etc?

The reason I ask these two questions is, if she didn't have a form of transportation (other than the RV) and she was still working at the casino, it would make sense for her to still be staying at the Cripple Creek RV Park and not outside the city limits. That RV park is only a 10 minute walk from the casino.

@RetLawyer I'm not disagreeing with you about the media stating she was living in an unincorporated area, I'm just trying to make sense of the little information we have available.

Scanning the area around Cripple Creek (unincorporated Teller County), I only see one campground (with RV sites) anywhere close. That would be the Lost Burro Campground. They have tent sites, electric only RV sites, and full hook-up (electric, water & sewer) RV sites. Interestingly, Lost Burro lists their address as 4023 Teller Rd. #1 PO Box 614, Cripple Creek, CO 80813 despite being outside the city limits. So, it is entirely possible she was staying at Lost Burro when the attack took place, rather than at the Cripple Creek RV Park.

This is where it would be nice to know if she was still working at the casino and if she had another mode of transportation besides the RV as Lost Burro Campground is 4 miles (10 minutes by car) from the casino.

Correction to my post above, I found two more campgrounds in Teller county that offer RV sites.

Rocking M Ranch Campground is 6.2 miles (10 minutes by car) from the casino.

Cripple Creek KOA is 6 miles (11 minutes by car) from the casino.

I don’t know when she was working at the casino but she posted on one of her Facebook pages that she was a motel manager at the Motel for the Gardens of the Gods. I don’t know when that was or in what small town that motel is.

I didn’t take it as disagreeing. Like you, I’ve been trying to figure out where her camper van was parked. Again, I wish TCSO would provide more info!

Exactly!
I find it surprising that there was a violent attack and LE won't tell the public exactly where it happened.
How can they get as many tips as possible without this info? How can the local public feel safe without this info?

The car was also mentioned in another more recent Facebook comment on the TCSO page. Its the one the SO shared written by Briena’s Mom. Also noteworthy, her Mom said something in that post that made me think she was homeless and maybe even unemployed at the time of her assault. Let me know your thoughts.

Great work on finding the location in the photo from her Facebook.

Technically, Briena wasn't homeless. She did have the camper van. If she were unemployed, perhaps she didn’t have money to pay for a space in an RV park. So, she may have been parked in an area where there weren’t many, if any, other RV campers.

That is a great idea. I hope someone can make that happen. When my Grandmother was in LTC we routinely brought her dog in to visit. It made her so happy. She didn't remember me, or my name, but she knew her dog's name, and who he was...

animal shelter has a fund for the dog which lost an eye

Moo...Ida the shepherd needs foster care. I own a shepherd and I work at a kennel. But shepherds are usually not great kennel dogs, just because they are a one person guard breed dog. Mine stays with a 64 yr single woman, when I need to board him, and she thinks he's an angel (he is good with her) but at kennels he is very..not relaxed. Hope they find a foster for Ida, she has been through a lot. ..moo
