More resources from New Mexico have been brought in. They're getting ready to launch.

ETA: Scorekeeper, you beat me to it! Guess that's what happens when you're flipping back and forth between six tabs and trying to keep up with emails! Gotta love Mondays!

What confuses me is that after a week, they aren't releasing any information at all. If LE was seeking the publics help in finding a live, healthy Dylan - you'd think they'd be telling us what to be looking for and the circumstances about his last known whereabouts. Not this story with more holes than a slice of swiss cheese. No PC, no word from MR. It's like they know what they are looking for and don't want to clue us in yet.

Actually - this is quite common in the case of a runaway. If LE really believes that Dylan ran away, they generally don't bust their behinds looking for the child. They don't hold press conferences and they don't spend a lot of time keeping the case in the public eye.

To All Posters: Until LE gives us reason - there is to be no speculation about the father. This is the 3rd warning. The father is a victim also, UNTIL/UNLESS Law Enforcement tells us otherwise.

in this case, though, they ARE busting their butts to find him, from what we have seen at the lake.

They might not be saying much, but they ARE looking hard. And looking in a lake doesn't say to me the they think he is a runaway, unfortunately. :(

I'm scratching my head over that too. Has it been said why this judge ordered this one day visit? Did dad request it or what? If I only had 1 day with my somewhat estranged teen, I would pack it full of fun things to do and places to go just to try to get reacquainted in a relaxed and fun environment.

JMO.....

I think that may have been an error in reporting...like Dylan had only been at dad's for a day when he went missing...instead of the trip was only planned for one day...

But I do not know this...

JMO

so we are left with:

1. Dylan was abducted

2. Dylan was hitching and met with foul play

3. Dylan walked to lake and had a accident

4. Dylan walked to lake and met with foul play

5. Dylan walked to lake and hurt himself

6. Dylan is hiding

JMO but if mom and dad can't be around each other (just speculating) maybe they thought it would be safer for Dylan to fly rather than him wind up with a weirdo taxi driver? I don't know, but that's one reason I would buy him a plane ticket rather than a cab. MOO

Completely OT..but I drive 35 miles to work one way....not sure I even knew you could fly 25 miles.....wierd...carry on....:seeya:

Hopefully we'll learn something soon. Dylan did not just vanish into thin air. There must not be reason to believe he was abducted, or we would have seen an Amber Alert. Hopefully in addition to the lake, all other areas and locations that LE believes Dylan has been are investigated and searched completely.

Law Enforcement is doing this exactly right!

You would not believe the number of parallel investigations that are going on outside the public search.

Go easy on the cops, they know what they are doing.

"Just spoke with the owner of the search and rescue dogs he told me that all three of his dogs picked up a strong scent where these three cones are floating in the water. they noticed it over the last two days. he says the chances of it being a human body are high. he says it is highly unlikely that it is anything else like an animal or critter. when I asked him whether it could be absolutely nothing he said that is unlikely. At this point we are still waiting for the New Mexico dive team to get into the water." - Kevin Torres 11/25

Any experts... is this typical language for owner of s/r dog, such strong word choices("chances high" "unlikely it's an animal, critter or nothing")? What are other realistic options?

Excuse me in advance for being tacky and quoting myself. I'm re-reading this from Kevin Torres' facebook page yesterday and comparing it to this exerpt from thedenverpost.com

It wasn't clear whether the smell they detected Saturday and again Sunday morning at the south end of the lake had anything to do with the youngster, said La Plata Sheriff's Office spokesman Dan Bender.

"We had two of the dogs alerted on the surface of the lake. It could be a submerged deer or elk or something else," Bender said.

Divers from the New Mexico State Police are assisting in the search after two La Plata County Search and Rescue K-9s — Cay and Sayla — signaled they had found something

I guess just trying to reconcile the SAR guy saying it's highly unlikely to be an animal or critter. The LaPlata SO spokesman saying it could be submurged deer or elk or something like that. Hopefully we'll find out soon and (I love animals but!) it will be a deceased animal.

Do many deer and elk often end up dead at the bottom of lakes? Sorry, I'm not an outdoorsy type. CLEARLY I'm a sit-in-front of my computer and spend all of my time on WS type!:blushing:

Boat with sonar equipment is in the water.

Both the dive boat and the sonar boat are out here. I'm starting to think the dive boat has sonar equipment too because it appears to be scanning the east side of the lake while the sonar boat scans the west side.

Thanks for turning me on to Kevin Torres' FB page, he updates it regularly.

So wierd...I am in North Florida and just logged onto a local radio station online and BREAKING NEWS pops up on my screen "Officials searching pond for missing Colorado Teen Dylan Redwine"....so strange we do not get breaking news on missing children local 1/2 the time....

TY for this reminder, I think we get frustrated wanting More! More! More! not enjoying all of the speculating and not wanting to break WS rules. Also a helpless feeling not being able to ask the full range of questions and investigate ourselves, but all of the authorities here are quite capable and I'm sure their silence is just as important as the few things they do say.

Whatever it takes to find Dylan and get answers is the only thing that matters. Even if that drives us up a tree. LE WILL come to the public if/when they need us. Til then, :please:.

I would love to know the success rate of these two dogs.. Two dogs trained to detect human decomp hitting at the same spot is ... well ... concerning. Although they aren't infallible, I think they know the diff between human and animal decomp .. that's what makes them special.

SAR probably understands this ... LE probably doesn't want to 'alert' the public of a pending find..

imo
