11 News asked authorities on Monday if there was any information on a possible reward leading to the location of Gannon. As of Monday, no reward is being offered by law enforcement.

Searchers both law enforcement and civilian have numbered in the hundreds.

"It's everyone saying, 'You know, we believe something can be done,' and we're all here to do it," said John Wilson, a drone pilot and member of Gannon's church, who says he's been recording aerial footage "24/7" in hopes of finding the child.

Lorson Ranch, the neighborhood southeast of the Colorado Springs Airport where Gannon calls home, is covered in blue lights and blue ribbons as families cling to hope he'll return.

“Gannon’s favorite color is blue, and so we’re turning the neighborhood blue. Just kind of a, you know, spiritual beacon to come back to us. To see we all care, we’re all thinking about you. We all want to see you again," Wilson said.

Not a criminal investigation

Investigators say they are not at a point where they can call the investigation criminal.

When asked Feb. 10 at what point the Gannon case would change from a missing persons case to a criminal case, El Paso County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jacqueline Kirby responded, "When the investigation leads us in that direction, and we're not there."

She said the same during an interview on Feb. 12.

Former FBI agent shares expertise on Gannon Stauch search in southern Douglas County

A former FBI agent is sharing his expert opinion as law enforcement searches near Larkspur for the missing boy from Lorson Ranch.

11-year-old Gannon Stauch has been missing since Jan. 27 and was last seen by his stepmother. Sunday marked the fifth day since deputies with El Paso County have been investigating in southern Douglas County.

"It's not just a random thing," said former agent Pete Klismet. "With some basis of knowledge from prior cases, somebody has told them something about the specific or general location up there where they may want to look and they may find something."

[..]

People in Facebook groups have also questioned why deputies have not arrested anyone yet. But Klismet says an arrest "doesn't mean a whole lot because they need to have enough information to convict somebody."

Deputies continue to partner with other agencies as the case approaches the three-week mark. EPCSO has stated finding Gannon is its top priority, but that may change with time, according to the former agent.

"Every case is different, but they do reach a point of no return where whatever you do is ineffective," Klismet said. "I'm going to guess that would be probably in a couple of weeks, but not much longer than that."

Spokesperson Jacqueline Kirby with EPCSO says no public volunteers are being used for the search in the Larkspur area. Klismet says that is probably because investigators have "specific information."

Sheriff’s Office: Gannon Stauch search put on pause, investigation continues
LARKSPUR, Colo. (KRDO) -- The search for missing 11-year-old Gannon Stauch was put on hold Tuesday.

Jackie Kirby of the El Paso County Sheriff's Office told KRDO the search effort was halted because of where they are in the investigation, not because of the weather conditions.

"It doesn't matter what the weather may be. If the investigation leads us to certain areas, as you’ve seen in the past, we're [going to] deploy the necessary personnel," she said.

Kirby told us that as they get more information and tips, they'll send more crews out to specific areas.

She said investigators do not think their search in the Larkspur area is over.

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said their investigation into finding Gannon Stauch is progressing. Deputies remain steadfast and hopeful.

Investigators have been working now for more than three weeks to track down the 11-year-old. Search crews were not deployed on Tuesday or Wednesday. He was reported missing on January 27.

Earlier in the week, search efforts were focused in the southern part of Douglas County. Despite multiple snowstorms, over 7,000 hours of investigative work done by the Sheriff’s Office and the FBI; over 8,400 staff hours put into the search efforts.

The search is taking place in a rural area on pine-forested and grassy hills blanketed with snow. A sheriff’s mobile command center is parked near the search area.

Deputies and other searchers have used forensic screens to sift through piles of snow for any evidence that could be tied to Gannon’s disappearance on Jan. 27, Kirby said. They have also been poking long thin poles into the snow as part of the search, she said. Drones, volunteers, K9s and mounted horse teams have also been used.

“We’re bringing the necessary tools to the search site to find Gannon,” Kirby said. However, she added that authorities hope to find the boy alive.

Here’s a better look. Only a dozen or so search & rescue professionals. This area is approx a mile away from the incident command spot where cars have been parking. That’s a mile in the opposite direction from the previous search area by Sierra Pines. [VIDEO]

“100% without a shadow of doubt, my boy would not run away,” Hiott said. She also resents the notion that he may have somehow brought this on himself.

“For it to be said that he has behavioral issues, and it to be blamed on him, that’s what makes me sick about this. … It is not Gannon’s fault. He is a child,” she said.

“This is the longest time I have not heard his voice. The only thing I can do is keep playing videos back and forth,” she said through sobs.

When her two other children — an 8-year-old and 18-month-old — ask where Gannon is, she wishes she could have answer.

“‘Where’s Bubba? Is he coming home?'” she said her kids have asked her. “Only thing I can say is, ‘I hope so.'”
