Week 3 Day 11

4/19/2023

The #LeteciaStauch murder trial is resuming now. Jurors are listening to the rest of the FBI-recorded phone call between Al and Letecia on February 15, 2020.

Al is heard being frustrated with Letecia as he’s trying to get answers about what happened to Gannon. Letecia at one point said, “I’m tired of being portrayed as the killer of a child I love.”

Al: “I want the truth right now and I’ll be willing to meet you… The biggest thing between us right now, is the truth. You give me the truth, you get your meeting.”

Al: “Give me the truth.” Letecia: “I gave you the truth." Al: “You walked me through 27 versions of a fake bulls**t lie.”

Al and Letecia are heard arguing about Gannon’s mom, Landen, being at the Stauch home after Gannon’s disappearance. Al is frustrated because he said Letecia and her daughter Harley Hunt packed their bags and left the Stauch home, saying, "You guys left. You bounced."

We’re now listening to another FBI-recorded phone call between Letecia and Al, where an FBI agent was coaching Al and suggesting questions to ask. This phone call is just over an hour long.

Al: “I feel like this is all my fault in the end because I was gone when it happened.” Al then began asking questions about the puddle of blood in the corner of Gannon’s room where his bed was that seeped down to the concrete floor.

Letecia then accused Al and others of walking into Gannon’s room and contaminating his room with blood. Letecia said whatever blood was there was from the burn on his arms, and a cut on his foot.

Then Al said he saw surveillance video of Gannon walking to the truck, and he said it looked like Gannon was sluggish and drugged. Letecia said, “Like really, Gannon drugged?!... He was probably very tired.”

Al then put FBI Agent Amber Cronan on a three-way phone call with him and Letecia. Letecia said she’d call the FBI agent back in a few minutes and hung up the phone.

FBI Agent Amber Cronan was called back to the witness stand after the hour-long phone call was finished playing for jurors. Agent Cronan testified saying it seemed like Letecia cared more about herself than what happened to Gannon.

“The significant pause in her speaking when they hooked up the 3-way call gave me the impression she might have been reluctant to speak with me,” said FBI Agent Amber Cronan when testifying about Letecia Stauch.

We’re now listening to the phone call between Letecia and FBI Agent Amber Cronan. Letecia was asked to describe in detail what happened on the day of Gannon’s disappearance. This phone call is nearly a half hour long.

Letecia explains trying to get Al a bike from Craiglist, going to Dunkin’ Donuts, and Petco twice.
Letecia then explained how when she and Gannon got home, Letecia heard a loud noise downstairs.
Letecia said when she went downstairs, a man was standing near the storage room.

Agent Cronan is back on the witness stand.
She testified saying there were multiple different stories that Letecia told about Gannon’s disappearance.
She also acknowledged there was no evidence to support there was an intruder and no evidence to support someone kidnapped Gannon.

Since Letecia and Harley left the home after Gannon’s disappearance, Al didn’t know where they were staying. During this phone call on February 15, 2020, Letecia said she’s staying at a woman named Michelle’s house in Monument.

Previous testimony in the trial indicated that Letecia was already on the east coast by mid-February.

FBI Agent Amber Cronan is back on the witness stand. She testified saying there was not a real person by the name of Michelle in Monument. During the phone call, Letecia said she was at Michelle’s house after Gannon’s disappearance.

Agent Cronan testified saying she has dealt with people with severe mental health issues. “It’s different. They may not have logical reasons for what they do,” said Cronan. She acknowledged that Letecia had logical reasons for what she was doing throughout the investigation.

During cross examination Letecia’s attorney asked Agent Cronan how long she viewed Letecia. Cronan said she wasn’t personally interacting with her. She also said if there was something they wanted to know during the phone calls, they would give Al a note.

Letecia’s attorney then asked why Letecia wasn’t arrested, because she was telling a lot of different stories and admitting Gannon’s blood was in his room. Cronan said an arrest wasn’t made because they didn’t have probable cause yet, and Gannon’s body was not found yet.

Jonathan Grusing, a former special agent, is the next witness to be called. He was assisting with the FBI-recorded phone calls between Al and Letecia Stauch.

Grusing said his goal was to have Al continue talking to Letecia so they could find out what happened to Gannon. “If we don’t accuse Letecia of killing Gannon, she would continue talking with us,” said Grusing.

Grusing testified saying Letecia would give up small hints and clues as her stories kept changing. He said she would also shift blame to other people, including Al and Gannon’s biological mother, Landen.

Al called Letecia saying he found out that the information about Quincy Brown isn’t true. During the phone calls, Letecia said the man in the home was Quincy Brown, and that Brown assaulted her and Gannon, and then took Gannon. Brown was actually a local registered sex offender.

Al said it was brought to his attention that Quincy Brown’s family said Brown has been in Mexico for the past two years.

Grusing took the stand again, and he said they advised Al to remind Letecia she’s a good person and a good parent. We’re now listening to another phone call between Al and Letecia. This one is just over 40 minutes long.

During this phone call, Al told Letecia, “I fully believe something happened and it was an accident and you panicked… I know that you did something, and I know that you’re responsible.”

Al said he’s “worried to death” that one day he'll have to testify about what happened, and he won’t know what to say, except that Letecia lied to him over and over, and didn’t tell the truth.

Al said he hope it doesn’t come down to murder because he hasn’t seen his son in three weeks. He then asked Letecia again about the blood in the corner of Gannon's room, saying he saw it and it was Gannon's blood.

As the FBI-recorded phone calls between Letecia and Al Stauch are playing in the courtroom, Letecia has her head down most of the time or her head in her hands.

Al: “What I think is that you did it. What I know is that you’re involved somehow… and you dumped his body somewhere.”

Recess break until 3:25 pm MT

Today, we’ll finish listening to three more FBI-recorded phone calls between Al Stauch and Letecia Stauch a few weeks after Gannon's disappearance.

The murder trial for #LeteciaStauch will resume Friday morning at 9 a.m. Court will not be happening on Thursdays, as the judge has other obligations.

FBI agents on Wednesday testified in the trial of Letecia Stauch, who is accused of killing her 11-year-old stepson, regarding the numerous lies told by Letecia Stauch in nine recorded phone calls between Letecia Stauch and Gannon's father, Al Stauch.

In the recorded calls, all of which took place in mid-February 2020, several weeks after Gannon was reported missing, Letecia and Al Stauch argue over Letecia Stauch's alleged version of events, and her story could be heard changing numerous times from phone call to phone call.

The calls played in court on Wednesday were similar to those played two weeks ago when Al Stauch took the witness stand. In all of the calls played to the jury, Al Stauch was "coached" through the calls at the time by the FBI, who helped him come up with questions to ask and topics to discuss with Letecia Stauch.

COLORADO SPRINGS — Testimony resumed Tuesday morning in the murder trial of Letecia Stauch with investigators recalling efforts to find Gannon Stauch and what they find while tracking his stepmother's movements.
Letecia Stauch is accused of first-degree murder for the death of her stepson and the dumping of his body on the side of the road in Florida back in 2020. She has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

Lt. John Sarkisian with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office told the court about the discovery of a bloody board near Palmer Lake where Letecia Stauch had visited. The board matched up with a board still in the family garage, according to Sarkisian.

Commander Mitch Mihalko, also with the sheriff's office, said of the investigation, “This is the largest in scope, depth and time, focused time, that I’ve ever been involved in.” He recalled how it became more difficult to communicate with the stepmother as they focused on her as a suspect.

Mihalko said as the investigation continued, he believed something violent happened in the Stauch home because of the blood patterns and stains found in Gannon's room. He said the scene was locked down on February 7, 2020.

He said Letecia was not acting like a step-parent or how a parent would in missing child cases. “As the information developed, it appears to me that the defendant was very cognizant of what was occurring, taking steps, almost being methodical in redirecting investigative efforts,” said Mihalko.

The next witness to be called to the stand was Alyssa Berriesford, a crime scene investigator with the Metro Crime Lab. She’s testifying as an expert in bloodstain pattern analysis.

Berriesford analyzed the blood stains in Gannon’s bedroom on the walls, baseboard, and floor area. “There was something dynamic that happened there, more than just a single event that happened in that room,” said Berriesford.

Berriesford added, “To have blood at that scale... there has to be some movement in that scene… a bloody object being swung was present in that room.” She said what happened in Gannon’s bedroom was “violent.”

She said of the blood patterns going in different directions, “That tells me that there’s probably more than one event happening to produce these stains.”

Berriesford said that based on her analysis, the blood was cleaned up. Some stains were blurred, not well-defined, or altered in some way.

During cross-examination, Berrriesford testified saying multiple events, in this case, indicated that there were blunt force impacts in different mechanisms, and the blood stains were indicative of a gunshot, blunt force injury, and sharp force injury.

DAY 12 Letecia Stauch trial Prosecutors are expected to play a 5 hour video of Letecia Stauch being interviewed by investigators (possibly FBI agents) according to what DA Michael Allen said on Wednesday.

An FBI Agent is on the stand, talking about how they had to change strategies when Al, Gannon’s father, was talking with Letecia on the phone.
Agent Grusing says Letecia would not give more information when Al asked if she accidentally hurt Gannon.

Grusing says Letecia Stauch would remove Gannon from the conversation at times, and would “de-personify” Gannon, which was a concern.

Right now another phone call is being played in court between Al and Letecia. Al keeps confronting Letecia with questions about Gannon. Letecia’s responses often have to do with herself and her relationship with Al.

“She wanted finding Gannon to be contingent on Al coming back into the marriage with her” Grusing says on the stand, talking about how Letecia responded to Al’s questions about where Gannon was.

Morning break until 10:45 am MT

The 5 hour interview FBI Agent Grusing had with Letecia Stauch is being played, with DA Allen stopping the video at certain points to ask Grusing questions. In the video, Letecia says Gannon was a lot like his dad, Al.

Court is back in session after lunch recess in day 12 of Letecia Stauch trial. The video of Letecia being interviewed by FBI Agent Grusing has resumed being played. "I love Gannon, with all my heart," Stauch told Grusing.

According to FBI Agent Grusing, Letecia Stauch googled "how to get blood out of sheets," and, "I don't like my stepson, should I get a divorce?”

FYI: I have off today so my coworker, Andy Koen, will be following the Letecia Stauch murder trial today. I'll be back in court on Monday morning.

https://twitter.com/KOAAAndyKoen

I'm in court this morning covering the #LeteciaStauch trial for @KOAA. The jury is hearing testimony from FBI agent Grusing (sp?) and listening to another phone call between Al and Letecia.

So, Agent John Grusing also worked on the Dylan Redwine investigation. During testimony, jurors heard a call between Al and Letecia. There’s an argument as he wants her to share information and she want him to believe that she doesn’t do anything wrong.

Al reassures Leticia. I’m in believe Letecia mode, he says. Finally she gives him a story about her giving a pregnant woman a ride outside it’s the PetCo, only the woman isn’t pregnant. She has cash coming out of her belly. She claims the woman forced her to go to PetCo.

This story came out after Letecia said she needed to drop off some kids who were in the car. She didn’t want them to hear what she was saying. No car doors open, no kids are heard on the call.

To sum it all up it was being in the wrong place at the wrong time, Letecia tells him. Grusing testified it appeared Letecia was trying to probe Al for information about the investigation. It appeared to be a calculated move on her part.

Recess until 1:30 pm MT

The prosecution then played portions of Grusing's interrogation of Stauch at the Myrtle Beach police department. He informed her that she was being arrested for murder. He gives her a sheet with listing her Miranda rights and has her sign and initial it.

So, Gannon was murdered, she asked. Grusing explained they can't have that conversation unless she's advised of her rights. Stauch says she has an attorney but the information is in her phone.

Letecia agrees to speak with Grusing. During the conversation tells him Gannon is alive and I can help you but I'm going to need someone who is going to help me. She said she needs protection for her family. He asks her how she knows Gannon is alive.

Letecia replies that she can't say 100 percent, but it leads back to being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Grusing explains that it's a crime to lie to investigators under federal law.

Later in the recording, Letecia explains how she knew that her calls with Al were being recorded. The things she said to him were out of anger, was hurt by him not wanting to work together.

Another part of the recording is played for the jury. Grusing asks Stauch if she's of sound mind, asks about any treatments for depression, anxiety. Stauch said she takes a prescription for anxiety. Talks about how she's been taking care of our kids for so long.

District Attorney Michael Allen asks Grusing why he'd question whether Stauch about being of sound mind. He explained he's spoke with the DA's office and was already thinking ahead to trial.

He asks about Letecia's statements explaining her behavior toward Al. It seemed to Grusing that she was trying to make Al come back to her. They discuss grievance mentality, if grievance can be a pathway to violence. There's an object from the defense.

Grusing has training as an FBI-profiler. Defense objected to him testifying as expert offering psychological opinion as opposed to as a criminal investigator. Objection was overruled.

Jury Hears Final Call Between Letecia Stauch & Ex-Husband

DAILY TRIAL UPDATES

DAY 12 – 4/21/23

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KOAA) — The murder trial of Letecia Stauch continued Friday as the third week of the trial wrapped up with jurors listening to multiple calls and watching a video of interactions between Letecia and investigators.

Jurors began the day by listening to a phone call between Al Stauch, the 11-year-old victim’s father, and Letecia, where Al continues to ask for more information about Gannon’s disappearance. The child was later found dead.

Al reassured Leticia, “I’m in ‘believe Letecia’ mode.” Finally, she gave him a story about her giving a pregnant woman a ride outside the Petco, only the woman isn’t pregnant, she has cash coming out of her belly. She claimed the woman forced her to go to Petco.

This story came out after Letecia said she needed to drop off some kids who were in the car. She said she didn’t want them to hear what she was saying. No car doors are audible opening, and no children can be heard on the call.

“To sum it all up it was being in the wrong place at the wrong time,” Letecia told him.

District Attorney Michael Allen played a 5-hour-long recording for jurors as part of the testimony from FBI agent John Grusing.

Grusing testified that it appeared Letecia was trying to probe Al for information about the investigation, in what he described as a calculated move on her part.

The prosecution then played portions of Grusing’s interrogation of Stauch at the Myrtle Beach Police Department. After informing her that she was being arrested for murder, he gave her a sheet that listed her Miranda rights and had her sign and initial the document.

“So, Gannon was murdered?” she asked. Grusing explained they can’t have that conversation unless she’s advised of her rights. Stauch said she had an attorney, but agreed to speak with the agent and at no point asked for her lawyer. During the conversation Letecia repeatedly told Grusing that Gannon is alive and “I can help you” but said she needed “someone who is going to help me.” She said she needed protection for her family. The agent asked her how she knew Gannon is alive.

WATCH: Jury Sees FBI Interview With Letecia Stauch

Letecia replied that she can’t say 100 percent, but it leads back to being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Grusing explained that it’s a crime to lie to investigators under federal law.

Later in the recording, Letecia explained how she knew that her calls with Al were being recorded. She told the agent that things she said to him were out of anger, and she was hurt by Al not wanting to work together to find Gannon.

Another part of the recording is played for the jury showed Grusing asking Stauch if she’s of sound mind, and asking about any treatments for depression and anxiety. Stauch said she takes a prescription for anxiety before beginning to talk about how she’s been taking care of the kids for so long.

District Attorney Michael Allen asked Grusing why he’d question whether or not Stauch was of a sound mind. He explained that he spoke with the DA’s office and was already thinking ahead to trial during the initial conversation.

Grusing asked Stauch pointed questions about the night that Gannon was last seen. He questioned her about a fire in the basement, and about a pool of blood on the floor of Gannon’s bedroom.

He also told her that he had records of the search history on her phone.

“The stuff you’ve entered and deleted, like, ‘blood is spurting from an arterial bleed, direct pressure is not controlling,'” Gursing said in the recording.

Stauch denied searching for that information. Gursing continued listing the search history with the phrases “I don’t like my stepson,” and “I don’t like my stepson, should I get a divorce?”

District Attorney Allen spent the day playing segments from the full interrogation, pausing at times to ask Grusing questions.

At one point in the video, after describing the pool of blood in the bedroom, Grusing tells Letecia it had to have come from a head wound or neck wound. Stauch could be seen in the video taking time to write a note in Grusing’s notebook.

Allen asked Grusing what she wrote.

“I just remember the first part that the head wound was on Saturday,” Grusing testified.

Letecia had given previous statements that Gannon burned his arms during a fire in the basement and that the wound started peeling. She also told Grusing that Gannon had injured his foot on some wood in the garage.

Allen asked Grusing for his opinion on what Letecia wrote in his notebook.

“I wasn’t pushing her, I would give her the opportunity to talk and then she would not talk so I would move on,” he said. “Now that we’re to the blood and what happened in the room I think it was too difficult for her to say it out loud,” Grusing testified.

Stauch continued to make statements during the interrogation, saying that someone else was responsible for what happened to Gannon and asked for assurances that she would be protected if she revealed what she knew. Letecia wanted to speak with Grusing without being recorded. At one point, the Myrtle Beach Police accommodated her request by moving them to another room.

Grusing testified that Stauch told him about a woman named Angel who she’d met on an app on her phone for the purpose of engaging in a threesome. She also said that Gannon injured his head the day before his disappearance while pushing two beds together.

Stauch provided few additional details about Angel when she and Grusing returned to the interrogation room.

No typos or spelling errors were made, transcript is "as is."

0:00 boats
did you confront her with uh web
searches that were done on her phone yes
I'm going to jump to that portion of the
interview and this is uh
one hour 56 minutes and 52 seconds
through two hours and 10 seconds
the stuff that you've entered and
deleted
like um what is birding from an arterial
bleed direct pressure not controlling do
what I don't know
it's from your phone what is what
spurting from an arterial bleed
no somebody did from your phone I don’t
like my stepson no I don't like my
stepson should I get a divorce
fucks cheating
Instagram I'll start cheating in
Colorado Springs
thought cheating
how to get blood out of sheets out of
sheep
the reason I brought up games is you you
uh looked up I want immunity because it
was gang related
and this sounds like
find me a new husband find me a rich guy
who wants to take care of his kids
though the new husband is just because
Albert already knew that was about the
lady baby Cheryl who had a who wanted to
find a new husband after 35 or something
he picked me about Amazon a lot of these
can have nothing to do with this it
doesn’t
[Music]
break can I spray paint the wood
I'm doing all the work for my step kids
and their mom doesn't help oh that
bothered me yeah yeah oh yes because I
wanted them to be mine like
like what about it
you do that a lot on Leticia and traffic
accident hit me run no
what was that
what what date was it it I don't have a
date on these I was just I was
downloading stuff because I was coming
on the plane yeah I know if someone
wants a divorce
my husband wants a baby but I want an
abortion
one day some people will wish they
treated you differently which I get that
parenting should be four people not one
's a suicidal person might say
I mean these make me very sad when I
read them because I can see you're doing
all the work at home by yourself which I
wanted to be there like I wanted to
totally have the kids as my children
that's the point you're not getting like
I wanted those kids to be saying to me
that I'm their mom like I am the person
who does
Harrison them loves them everything
so you can think that what about what do
you do if you suspect a person swallow
poison that somebody actually swallowed
for we do I don't know I always click
things and read them did somebody
swallow it no one's swallowed in poison
you will never forgive me and treat me
3:42 like a princess you'll never know when
it's too late oh yeah I mean I always
search for things in Alberta
so in that particular portion um you
mentioned the immunity was there a
particular phone calls um during the
consensual record of phone calls process
where she was also saying the same thing
to Al and those phone calls yes there
was it was one of the earlier phone
calls I was involved in
did you ask her to describe what
injuries Gannon suffered a little bit
later after this yes I'm gonna jump to
4:12 timestamp two hours and 50 seconds
and play through uh two hours eight
minutes and 55 seconds
if you're not willing to go with who
took Ganon can you at least tell me what
injuries he suffered
the true ones
as far as the cut foot was that a legit
injury yes and where did that happen
oh he was outside in the garage and when
he was on the garage he was running to
go help me take this route to take the
trash out come back and help me get
stuff out of the car and then he stepped
on something which I left the blood
there
the guy left it like because Albert said
don't touch that fine wood or Africa or
whatever kind of wood what did the piece
of wood look like
okay
and it's still in the garage I I had to
drive over
always had to draw
right right you didn't take that out of
the garage
the Longboards that were in the garage
you could not fit I left okay so there
was the piece of board that I threw in
the back
the truck and then there was the two
long boards that were sitting there so
the the board I was about like this size
in the board that was the Longboards
that were sitting here I left the
longboards because I don't know that was
supposed to be the fancy wood and I
didn't want a woman we're trying to get
the blood off of it the other piece of
wood was the wood that I threw in the
back of our truck yeah what was that
there was a bunch of pieces that were
laying around that from that night from
us running through there was like little
pieces it was a piece about this size
maybe a couple pieces
the truck
that that bigger feet you said bigger
like this it wasn't like okay yeah it
was um
I knew it was not the wood that he would
be freaking out over so from Sunday
that's he did hurt his foot and how
badly was it Google it wasn't I'd say
Sunday Saturday I'm sorry from Saturday
Albert had just left right to drive to
the airport it wasn't even it wasn’t
even going wrong he had just left the
drive to the airport
require a Band-Aid
well you know when he whenever he always
does something he tries to be like he’s
not like laying over he's like oh I need
a Band-Aid or whatever Daniel would
literally walk around with toilet paper
in the middle of the toe and it would
have blood or whatever and just run
everywhere to his room or whatever so
what do you do investigation we we
literally took the paper towel that’s
what I just told you about toe and put
in between so it was in between his toes
it's where the engine no he it was like
wrapped here we had it wrapped
and I don't remember forgetting Band-Aid
to be honest
well that doesn't sound like a big
answer well wasn't I mean he was well
there was a big injury
um I left it on the wood because I said
I'm not going to clean him fine African
wood what did it look like on the wood
drops streets well what I did originally
was I was trying to take water to do it
but then I realized if I put cleaner
then that wouldn't do anything but cause
the what the damage because I would
always wanted to build things but I was
doing nothing and if I use those pieces
of wood and all that stuff
did you ever use that shop fact to clean
up anything out there no I never used
the shop the shop vac was never I
couldn't even like move anything with
the shot anything that would have been
reviews with a shop vac would have been
over other than the times that we
brought it
weeks ago and we did spring cleaning or
fall cleaning around the house in the
corners
so that would have been the shock back I
never there was nothing I ever did and
vacuumed up something with the shops
like any of that there was none of that
ever happened so
the burn from the arms weren't that bad
the the cut on the toe or the bottom of
the foot broken back so we still were
able to go hiking even
he was able to still go pick it was
bleeding on the board
not only the house well he had the piece
of paper and went down to his room
yeah like wrapped around the foot so I
mean if anything it could have been
dropped in the letters
no what about the wound of the head that
you talked out about Well Albert was
like trying to get me to say whatever
because I'm sure you guys are having me
so Albert was trying to get me to say
that like talk about talk to him about
you know
or you know whatever so I threw out some
stories to Albert because he was making
me so upset just like
everyone not understanding that
interventions
there's a there's someone intervening in
them and that's where people didn’t
understand and want to say anything so I
just started rambling stuffed Albert and
I even said you guys hey
you know and it was just to
be whatever but do you know what that
sounds like though to a dad who's the
thing is kid and then you say in the
previous headband happened to where it
was blood running down his face and
that sort of thing and it you know had
to bandage it up and well I don’t
remember saying anything about Painted
you know I think you said Quincy Brown
tried to banish it oh
I was gonna say I don't remember me
saying I did that
oh he did suffer ahead
or not okay and that's what caused the
blood there
and so if even if you choose not to tell
us where Gannon is today because you’re
too nervous or whatever else
we would like to know where that was on
him so if we find him on our own if
you've given me the clues to go find him
that sort of thing
where was that road
but where is that one was it his neck or
is heaven I I don't always think about a
maker head
well you had to clean up the wall you
went ahead no it's not that is not even
from what what are you talking about
10:44 there had nothing to do with anything
from Saturday Sunday and whatever that
had nothing to do with Annie I put it no
it did not say a lot of fun it did not
I'm going to have to explain that sir it
did not well just tell me how it did not
you're not gonna help
me I better not help you how are you
gonna get up Leticia on this band
after telling all these stories which
we're going to ask you about and then
say
I can explain all that and it's some
party that I never told law enforcement
to go chase
if Dan is alive we have an 11 year old
kid somewhere
being held against its will and you’re
not telling us you might as well have
done this yourself that's why I'm saying
foreign

12:35 two hours eight minutes and 55 seconds
what did she write down in your notebook
I just remembered the first part that
the head wound was on Saturday
you remember it saying uh and had
nothing to do with this words to that
effect yes
what was your take on that that instead
of saying it on the camera she wanted to
write it down
um in your notebook
well whether it's by now whether it’s
the the argument that she didn't want to
talk about the the burns
and even Colin Gannon
as absent you know I wasn't pushing her
I would give her the the opportunity to
talk and then she would not talk so I
would move on and now that we're to the
blood and what happened in the room I
think it was too difficult for her to
say it out loud with the head wound
when um she's going over uh the wound to
the head and and then she actually says
um she just started throwing out stories
because Al was making me mad
you remember that portion
um
what were your thoughts on on that
particular part of the interview well
that was consistent with what she was
telling out on the phone calls
and and Al would continue to push her
like we need to find Gannon and then she
would say what about our relationship
so she would move from finding out what
happened again and to her feelings and
that's what she was doing here again
is this also an example of her blaming
others for her behavior yes
um did you ask her about uh blood being
found in the back of her Volkswagen
Tiguan yes I did okay we're gonna play
that portion X and judge just as I’m
watching the time is there a time that
you want me to shoot for for a break
okay I'll just watch the clock on that
this next section
um picks up from here and goes through

14:38 two hours 10 minutes and 57 seconds
(Unfortunately, no transcript was located at this time.)

More than once in that interview, Grusing intimates that Stauch knew more about Gannon’s disappearance than what she was sharing with investigators, and questions the motivations behind her subsequent actions. If she truly knew who abducted her stepson, why not be forthcoming about that information?

Grusing also confronted Stauch about information investigators had culled from her internet search history, including phrases such as “blood spurting from arterial bleed,” and “I don’t like my stepson.”

Testimony from blood spatter experts this week set out to show the amount of blood found in Gannon's bedroom was inconsistent with the description and explanation for his wounds given by Letecia Stauch.

"So, Gannon was murdered?" she asked.
