Anna Green has known Yoder for 23 years and said the 35-year-old mother of four would not go a day without calling her or her family. Now that she has been missing for four months, authorities are calling in other agencies for help.

[...]

On Wednesday, investigators from Weld County Sheriff’s Office put out the word that they are getting state and federal officials involved in the case.

Weld County officials said they have received a number of tips but none leading to Yoder’s whereabouts, all of it made worse by what Green said are trolls online.

WELD COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) — Officials investigating the case of a missing Weld County woman said they are also investigating another matter connected to that case: a possible fake lead.

Family and friends of Kaysey Yoder said they have seen posts on social media claiming to know her whereabouts, but that person will not come forward without compensation.

A cybersecurity expert explained the line between free speech and breaking the law online.

Trolls online could be breaking a number of laws, from cyberbullying to obstruction of justice, according to Mark Young with CP Cyber Security, a private cyber security consultant firm.

“On one hand, we want a free and open social space where people can express themselves,” Young said. “On the other, we have a civic duty to prevent that space from turning into a platform for bullying, harassment and obstruction of justice.”

Bumping for Kaysey, I think of she and her disabled son frequently. I hope he's being well cared for.

Since the report of Yoder’s disappearance, the sheriff’s office has spoken to more than 20 family members, friends and uninvolved witnesses, the sheriff’s office said in an emailed update.

The office said it conducted conventional interviews, forensic interviews and a polygraph test. Searches using drones, K-9 units and on-foot personnel covering 2 square miles from Yoder’s last confirmed location were conducted shortly after her disappearance.

The Weld Sheriff’s Office has followed up on about 50 tips on Yoder, including alleged sightings.

“Unfortunately, these investigative efforts have not uncovered where Kaysey went or where she is now, but no criminal act is suspected involving Kaysey’s departure from home,” the sheriff’s office said in the release, adding it’s believed Yoder chose to leave home.

A post on the Facebook page “Missing People from the State of Colorado” asks for signatures on a petition requesting a Weld County District judge grant a warrant for access to Yoder’s phone records. The petition to Judge Julie Hoskins was started July 15 and has 301 signatures as of Thursday evening.

The Weld County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) on Thursday provided an update on the search for a missing woman who was last seen in January.

Kaysey Yoder, 39, was last seen walking away from her home in the 36000 block of Appy Road in unincorporated Weld County around 4 p.m. on Jan. 14. A previous release stated Yoder was seen at the Ault liquor store later that night between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Yoder's husband reported her missing just before 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 15.

The sheriff's office said investigators have followed up on roughly 50 community tips, including alleged sightings.

"Again, we believe Kaysey left because she wanted to, and at this time, we do not suspect a crime was committed when she left her home," the sheriff's office said.

Wait, now they think she left and is voluntarily missing?
In reading back through the articles there's never been any mention made of suspected foul play that I can recall. Without any further clues as to someone else being involved they're probably just clarifying that.

Saying no criminal act is suspected in the disappearance of a Weld County woman earlier this year, the sheriff’s office Thursday issued a plea for information on Kaysey Yoder.

Weld County Sheriff’s Office has an update posted 21 hrs ago.

Still not found. But, they detail all they have done to investigate and locate her, then say:
“Unfortunately, these investigative efforts have not uncovered where Kaysey went or where she is now, but no criminal act is suspected involving Kasey’s departure from home.

Deputies searched Weld County Road 74 and Highway 14 along with their interconnected roads from Yoder's home to the Fort Collins area. The sheriff's office also conducted a five-mile search to the east on Weld County Road 74.
"Again, we believe Kaysey left because she wanted to, and at this time, we do not suspect a crime was committed when she left her home," the sheriff's office said.

Anyone with information about Yoder's whereabouts or disappearance is asked to call Detective Stupka at 970-400-2832. You can also contact the sheriff's office tip line by phone at 970-304-6464 or by email at crimetips@weld.gov.

“(She) told me a story about how (she) was just gonna go lay down in the snow and let (herself) freeze to death,” Green said.

The next day, Yoder seemed better. But in the afternoon, she left her home on Appy Road near Eaton, Colorado.

Her husband Evan said she took keys for both vehicles but set out on foot, announcing she’d be spending the night with Green.

The next morning, Green got a call from Yoder’s mother.

Kaysey Yoder’s circle of friends is wide, but one of her closest and most loyal friends is Anna Green.

But in the afternoon, she left her home on Appy Road near Eaton, Colorado.

Her husband Evan said she took keys for both vehicles but set out on foot, announcing she’d be spending the night with Green.

……
Wonder how far her friend lives from her? Was it normal behavior to walk to her friend’s house even though she had two vehicles there?

Husband said she was going to stay with her friend. Was she carrying any belongings when she left?

I am a local and believe her friend lives in a different nearby town about a 10 minutes from drive from Kayseys house. There is no way she could have just walked. And the weather was horrible the night she left, and the night prior, due to a winter storm.
I did see in the reports that she was supposedly carrying a small backpack with her, but one I believe she typically used as a purse.

I did see that this article states she did take a change of clothes in the small bag, but that the bag was found, along with her sons phone and a pair of pants, at the intersection near their house.
