This one is clear:

On Tuesday, Eden, who requested her attorney — Brent Martin, of Montrose — be relieved and terminated of his state-appointed duties as her defender in a July 5 letter to San Miguel County District Judge Keri Yoder, was granted the Sixth Amendment right to self representation.

Eden explained she wants to “go to trial without an attorney at (the court’s) earliest convenience” in order to testify “to what happened and why” in regards to the deaths of Makayla Victoria Roberts, 10, and Hannah Elizabeth Rosalina Marshall, 8. The children were kept in a 1999 Toyota Sedan — and allegedly denied food and water — on property off County Road Y43, near Norwood, at different points during summer 2017.

In a nutshell, the judge questioned Eden about her knowledge of the legal system and made sure she understood the possible penalty - 48 years for each girl - and urged Eden to consider having an attorney.

Trial is set to begin in Montrose County on Sept. 10 but trial dates the weeks of Oct. 22 and 29 were also reserved. Eden's request for a change in venue was granted, thus the trial will be in Montrose not San Miguel county.

A Thursday status hearing for Ceus, which lasted approximately 7 minute, was open and shut; no previously set dates were changed. Motion hearings are scheduled for Aug. 28 and 31.

Ceus is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Ashford's docket looks like they cancelled his trial, which was to start on 8/14. He now has Motion hearings on 8/28 & 8/31 & on 9/27 Review of Placement hearing @ 10a & a setting hearing at 3pm.

I would love to be able to watch the trial of Ika Eden. I've never seen a trial with a defendant without a lawyer. Thanks for the updates. I'm frustrated like you Niner not being able to view most of the article's which are reporting on this case.
iv e often wondered why some cases get more media attention than others. Here we have 2 beautiful little girls who have been cruelly starved to death by her own mum and a group of other people, and hardly anyone is reporting on it. Why????? It's deplorable what's happened and these baby girls don't even get a mention in news other than where it occurred. I'm quite shocked.
