Police ask for help to ID possible kidnapping suspect in Westminster

Police said they received two calls about an SUV with a woman inside screaming.

He was getting gas when a female in the SUV was heard screaming for help, the release said. Police said the SUV immediately left the area, the 9100 block of 100th Avenue.

A short time later, a caller in the 11200 block of Simms Street reported what police said they thought was the same SUV pulled to the side of the road. A female attempted to get out and was screaming for help, the release said.

Police first learned of the potential kidnapping at 7:55 a.m. Sunday when someone called 911 to report they had seen a woman screaming for help inside a black SUV at a gas station near the intersection of West 100th Avenue and Wadsworth Parkway in northwest Westminster. A male suspect was filling the SUV with gas but drove off shortly after the call was placed, according to a news release from Westminster police.

Another caller reported about 20 minutes later that they saw the same SUV pulled to the side of the road in the 11200 block of Simms Street, near Colorado Hills Open Space, with a woman inside screaming for help and trying to get out.

Westminster police responded to both locations but did not find the SUV, spokeswoman Cheri Spottke said.

The SUV is a black newer model with dark tinted windows and a temporary license plate, according to Westminster police.

The male suspect is a young, white man with short dark hair. He has multiple tattoos on his right arm. A surveillance camera at the gas station on West 100th Avenue captured a photo of him.

Why wouldn't the female be able to escape while he was pumping gas?
