I think if the FAA decides to file charges against them, that may be reallllll serious. Wow, guess he wasn't expecting this.

Enjoy your 15 mins of fame Mr Henne!!!!! Oh yeah, we want 14 of them back.

Heck NO I want all 15 plus another 15 for my aching heart for a child who was never in danger... with a balloon.
Things happen for a reason though and now lets hope the children will be protected from their psycho father.:banghead:

uhhhhhhhhh and the "I don't have cable" BS statement is just that, BS. uhh You do have Internet flaky flake since you post videos everywhere. Geesh he's a creep.

Im not knocking home-schooling; I'm knocking home-schooling.... by psychos.

That is all.

I honestly am surprised the sheriff now anticipates charges, considering just a short time ago he talked how he believed this to be a "real event" and how he had these experts telling him the family exhibited these natural reactions and weren't faking it. Doesn't look like the father confessed to anything. So what brought this on? Seems like a compete turn around in a short time.

My guess is, he was checking emails and he saw something online that got his attention. He most likely saw the balloon launch video.

Well, it is official that the balloon has reached pop culture status: it was mentioned in the opening sequence of SNL, and then it (yes, the balloon) made a cameo on their "Weekend Update". *shakes head* Yes, it was funny... I laughed at it... but felt bad because, even though Bloony Dad is in deep kaka, I'm sure such attention is just swelling his head.

But he's becoming reknown as a mockery and a shyster, not as a tragic I-almost-lost-my-kid-poor-me victim sort of thing. It has a whole different connotation to it; but I do see your point. :)

Sheriff searches home in Colo. balloon saga
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Sheriff's deputies are searching the home of a couple caught up in the Colorado balloon saga. Larimer County officials showed up at the Fort Collins home of Richard and Mayumi Heene with a warrant around 10 p.m. MDT and at least three of them began a search. Sgt. Ian Stewart declined so say what they were after....

That is interesting. I just read it as well. What would they be looking for at 10pm on a Saturday night? The articles earlier said they were anticipating misdemeanor charges and they wouldn't be arrested. Now a nighttime search? Curious.

I think there are implications for possible felony charges; But Im not sure -so I should keep my yapper shut unless I know for sure... and I don't....so...

He and his family appeared on the ABC reality show "Wife Swap," and the show's producer said it had a show in development with the Heenes but the deal is now off. TLC also said Heene had pitched a reality show to the network months ago, but it passed on the offer.

I'm sure getting voted on by viewers to appear in the 100th episode of Wife Swap really went to the Heene's heads. The quality of tv shows has gone downhill if ABC thought people wanted to watch this family on a regular basis.

In the earlier press conference, the sheriff said they were talking to the FAA and were looking into possible federal charges. He also said that criminal charge would be coming. He made it sound as though they were looking for more than just a low level misdemeanor to charge them with considering all the ruckus they caused.

FAA issues are pretty serious... but I guess he doesn't have to worry about going on the "no fly" list, since he likely has a transporter beam some where out in the shed.

Haven't read the whole thread, but have social workers interviewed these kids? After watching the Wolf Blitzer interview I am convinced a 10 minute interview with Falcon would reveal the whole thing.

Watch the boy Bradford's expression as his dad answers questions. He looks scared they are all going to get busted, if he isn't miked, maybe he can hear thru his mother's mike or maybe he is just reacting to his lying father's bs.

Good bet that CPS will take the children, at least temporarily. I wonder how these kids who freely swear and appear to have little discipline will react in such a situation.

The $750 seems kind of slap-on-the-wrist-esque to me. I guess every state is different, but what state was "Runawway Bride" from? She had to pay back something; I cant recall the amount.
Georgia.

I can't believe that they were actually going to get their own show. Maybe he was trying to boost interest with this balloon stunt so that they'd have more viewers when their show started. Ugh.

The below article seems to have been published on Friday, I guess before the hoax suspicions really started flaring.

SNIP
' "We were working on an experimental craft -- I call it the 3D LAV, a low-altitude vehicle for people to pull out of their garage and hover above traffic for about 50 to100 feet," Richard Heene said later. "It's still the very early stages of the invention." '

Ha! The 3D LAV! Wonder what that stands for? Can you imagine hovering above traffic in a jiffy pop container?

"What my kids learn from these storms and what they walk away with is the fact that these storms can be very deadly," Heene tells TV station KMGH in video posted on YouTube. "They see what happens when houses are caught in the path of destruction. Now, we always avoided paths of destruction when we go."

MY BOLD

Ya think?

Hey! Go easy on the guy! When you have a failing business and spend all of your money on helium and Jiffy Pop so that you can talk to your ancestors, who can find room in the family budget for a copy of The Wizard of Oz? The kids gotta learn those lessons somehow!

And to think, they had to eat all of that popcorn without any cable TV or a movie!

It kind of sounds like these folks don't avoid the path of destruction, they seem to create a path of destruction? JMO.
