After reading how swiftly and viciously the tide turned on the thread after the videos were posted, I was honestly dreading watching them. I got the implication from the posts that SW would appear like a controlling monster who was cruel to her children and husband and gleefully humiliated them, etc. etc.

Wow.

In the checkers video I saw normal ribbing. My husband and I joke around a lot and are ultra-competitive in silly games like this. CW was laughing and joking around about it. He could have left. There's actually a second checkers video posted on FB too. He didn't have to agree to go live and play a 2nd game, either, if he was upset like people claim, with seething anger and whatever all.

The squirting water video? Bella was laughing the whole time and kept coming back to open her mouth, lift her shirt, etc. She wasn't crying, wasn't saying stop it, wasn't trying to get in frantically. She was spraying the window too. Even the "daddy save me" was with giggles. I guess I must be cruel and evil too because I saw normal horseplay.

The pie face... again, my husband would want to be the one in the pie in the face spot and in front of the camera when I wouldn't. Just to be silly. Do we know "poor" CW didn't want to be there? Did SW force him into a place of humiliation and degradation by playing a game and letting his toddlers smash whip cream in his face? For heaven's sake. The only thing that I disagreed with was that it went on too long at the end when Bella didn't want to get messy then was crying & didn't want to say goodbye. They're kids. She was probably over it as soon as she ran away to play with something else.

We know that social media and marketing a lifestyle is a big part of any MLM. We know SW was a Thriver who took a lot of videos and was always "on".

I cannot for the life of me see what everyone seems to be seeing about how terrible and controlling she was and how bad she was to her children and how poor Chris was dominated to where he eventually had to take out his big bad controlling wife while watching her murder his children. What?!

He's a grown man who had 2 kids, 1 on the way and was perfectly capable of saying no. This has shades of the traditional BS in-laws mentality of "the evil wife and my poor baby boy".

I'm gonna need a cleansing and a step back after this one because some of the posts feel very close to victim blaming and shaming.

BBM. I don't think anyone is victim blaming. No one blames SW. We are just trying to get an idea of the family dynamics. Do I think SW was a saint? No. No one is. Do I think CW is a monster? Of course. I also don't like their relationship dynamics. Everyone keeps saying this is how their marriage is....well, the difference is CW killed SW. So their marriage is NOT just like everyone elses marriage.

Okay, so I watched the videos and I am just not seeing what many of you seem to see. I see kids being kids and squealing with enjoyment and parents being good-naturedly ribbed. I don't see CW acting like he he is being pushed around; to me he looks happy. I definitely don't see a child "cornered" on the deck-I see one laughing and enjoying herself and acting in the same manner in which my own do.

We can continue to pick apart these home videos, these tiny slices of a person's life, but no real conclusions can be drawn because not only are they completely out of context (not to mention the fact that no matter how long we stare at her SM page, we still don't actually know this person) but they are completely subjective. We bring our own backgrounds to them.

I thought this comment you made about the videos was very well stated and your points well made! We each do see things in the context of our own lives and experience. I'm glad you made this post. Kudos!

And, this is a crime discussion/sleuthing message board. People here are going to analyze every single detail we have access to.

We don't need to apologize or silenced for doing what we gathered here to do (as long as we stay within TOS), and we shouldn't have the expectation that everyone will share the same opinions and ideas. We don't need to be offended or off-put if people have different reactions. That's my opinion of course. There have been times on the thread when I needed to step away because I was annoyed....it happens.

If I ran across the videos without knowing anything about the crime, I wouldn't watch past the first 5 seconds. They are boring and unpleasant to me. I am not at all charmed by them (though I'm impressed with her housekeeping....immaculate!).

But since I do know about the crimes CW committed, I am very interested in the videos and have opinions about them. Go figure.

Hi all! I’ve been lurking for a bit. The thing I simply cannot get past is how he carried his kids’ dead bodies up that ladder and dumped them into the tank. As a mom, I have carried my kids many times when they were tired of walking at a fair or amusement park, or they fell asleep on the drive home and I carried them upstairs to bed, etc. How could you carry your child’s lifeless body the same way you carried them so many times before and not just be comepletely devastated? How???

Speculating I think it was along the lines of when he was a kid and outgrew toys that's what it was like

I hope that SW's family won't be harmed by Hurricane Florence. They are dealing with enough as it is. Poor, Dieter will be freaked out. The homepathic flower essence remedy,

Exactly. So he most likely thought repair was not an option. He wanted to start fresh without Shanann and the kids hanging on to him anymore.

IMHO the comments about SW deliberately targeting Bella because she looks like CW, the comments speculating on how dominating and cruel she seems to be to him and the children, some of it reads that way to me because it's such a huge reach.

They clearly had marital issues and it ended tragically. So there was a lot more going on than any of us will see in a Thrive promo video, a checkers game, or even friends or family saying they swear there's no DV. You can't know. This I know firsthand from experience. You CANNOT know what goes on between 2 people when the doors are closed and the cameras are off.

I feel like some have been waiting for an "a-ha" (or almost gleeful "TA DA", if you will) moment that would somehow explain either why she's the villain in this as CW says, or why she was so awful he finally filled with rage and snapped. The videos seem to have provided that in spades and it escalated very quickly which shocked me because I watched them and didn't see it. That's all.

The difference now is we have a defendant who is telling his story about what happened. He has not been found guilty so since he is the only witness and he says Shanann killed their two children then we have to allow discussion on whether this is true or not. If a member wishes to believe Chris Watts is telling the truth then we must respectfully let that person express their opinion as long as it is within TOS.

Nick and Amanda Thayer were concerned that Dieter was in the yard and asked LE if they could care for him until the family were contacted.

Shanann’s mother rang Nick to make sure they had Dieter and she wanted their word that they would take good care of him because Dieter is the last thing they have and they wanted to take him home. Nick and Amanda cared for him and treated him as part of their family until he went to live with Shanann’s brother, Frankie.

Frankie said, “He gets a little nervous here and there because he’s not used to … my chihuahua and her attitude lol. He’s starting to figure out she’s all bark and no bite. Lol. I even caught them playing together last night and she usually doesn’t like ‘new’ people or pets, hell, anyone but me. Haha”.

Radar has a story about this which we cannot link to, but the neighbor is quoted as saying they made the call "the day the family went missing".

I haven't seen all of the videos, but thank heavens that there are tons of them
for SW's family to treasure. Sometimes, it little things that stick in your mind.
Day-before-yesterday, for me, it was the video posted of SW showing the
construction digger making a ton of noise behind her house preparing
the way for another house to be built. SW was exasperated like I would be. Then she pans down to Bella drinking milk and smiling wildly at the digger. Two things kids adore - watching construction and watching animals go to the bathroom.

In Feb. of 2016, on Staten Island, a woman named Rebecca Cutler and her little girls were stabbed to death by Ms. Cutler's ex. He claimed he killed her to defend the little girls from her. He said he walked in while she was in the process of stabbing them and that he got the knife away from her and stabbed her with it to try to save them. He had a hung jury.

I hate that he had a hung jury. That’s what I’m afraid of here too.

When all is said & done, the videos show people who seemingly loved & adored their littles. Everyone parents differently. That being said I would have never guessed in a million years that either of them would have murdered those precious babies. They BOTH looked like loving parents. But SW & the girls ended up dead & their bodies, especially the girls, disposed of in a most disturbing manner. Imo that fact is what keeps me from believing SW killed those girls.

As we all try to make sense of something that is senseless I have been wondering lately about something. There is probably going to end up being a whole host of things that contributed to him doing what he did. Many things like his other affairs, financial difficulties, and probably other things all contributed to him doing what he did.

With that being said, the one thing that I am wondering about if it had a part in the contribution is what we have seen in some other cases is a thing called "roid rage".

Im not sure if he was even taking any steroids or anything that would have a side effect of losing ones temper but there have been many cases where "roid rage" came into the discussion so have been wondering about that. His body transformation was pretty remarkable and so it does make me wonder. And if there is any truth that medicines like that can cause one to have a hot temper then it does make me wonder if it could have contributed in any way if he took anything like that.
