From what I recall, FBI reached out to JL on about Nov 13, 2020, and after he was assured that he was not under investigation, FBI told him they would protect him.

JL told authorities that as of that date, he still had not even told his wife about his affair with SM. JL did not believe BM knew about SM/JL affair because he thought BM would have come after him. He also told FBI that he didn't think BM was responsible for disappearing SM.

I respectfully disagree.
Sm and JL allegedly hooked up in high school and JL admittedly maintained a crush on her and apparently she on him. I think SM was lonely, abused and yes bored. She reached out to him and he responded, because he still had feelings and memories of her.
So I think this "affair" had a lot of unfinished business attached. As young as they had been they found themselves still attracted to each other and I think their communication filled a void in their lives. And not a void of needing their time to be occupied. I think they genuinely cared about each other. Then it did become physical because they're both human.
I think they're affair was very much about feelings.

I agree @kdj. SM was battling cancer for the 2nd time and this "safe" person from her childhood really who she did not have to explain herself to showed her empathy and compassion when she needed it most. JL's daughter found their communication and they tried to sever their contact but resumed talking again by Christmas. She was probably communicating with him in Mexico when BM allegedly grabbed SM's phone demanding to know who she was in contact with. SM described JL as everything BM was not including intelligent, well-read, and a good conversationalist. I'll try to find the tweet/link. MOO

Yes. The daughter saw the texts very early in the relationship (2018) and showed them to her UNCLE and BROTHER, nothing about her mother.

JL/SM even stopped communicating but resumed contact around Christmas time and had been in contact ever since -- the first hookup in Feb 2019 -New Orleans Nashville, I think.

One of Libler's daughters found out about him speaking with Suzanne and told her older brothers and Uncle. Suzanne and Libler paused their relationship for a while but then got back to communication in Christmas of 2019.

It was tweeted during the prelim that JL didn't think BM was responsible for disappearing SM.

JL said he wanted to help SM get out on her own (regardless of their status). He also told FBI that he didn't want to lose his job or his family.

I think like any friend, it would be a hard thing to swallow if you learned that the partner of 25+ years was truly capable of harming your friend and you didn't act to get her to safety.

I also think he probably bought in to SM's new sense of confidence since May 6. I think for the first time ever, SM wasn't backing down -- her mind was made up, and she was happy and hopeful for her future.

thanks. that's news to me. so that was either JL's brother or brother-in-law plus one of the daughters siblings? just want to be sure. because this info expands the conspiracy of silence. as if not talking about these matters will somehow make them go away.

I don't think JL could let his mind go there. It was that simple. He could not and did not want to envision SM living with evil.

I hope so, because of evidence. But I think if BM heard or saw any of it he grabbed her phone and threw it or smashed it, which would be substantial too.

Wow! Brilliant! I hope you are right. That would be a good reason to seal the warrant ‘to protect the victims and witnesses’ and if that evidence is in the AA there was no need to bring it to the PH. All my rambling opinion.

On Nov. 26, 2018, there were 7 calls between Suzanne and Jeff Libler that totalled 4 hours. The next day she texted Sheila saying she had a tough talk with Barry Morphew, but she didn't mention the new relationship with Libler.

According to Eytan, Libler and Suzanne spoke 26 times between January 4-11 of 2019. Harris is looking at the phone records to confirm. He said it was 19, but he might just need readers. He didn't have the 11th day of data.

Agent Harris is looking through reports of the conversation with Libler that investigators had. Libler mentioned that Suzanne had told him that Barry had seen some messages and that they needed to switch communication apps. Eytan said she never heard it on the recordings.

Sheila Oliver was a college roommate of Suzanne's that they were the best of friends. However, she did not know about Jeff Libler. She never mentioned this male friend to anyone. It was hard for them to believe that Suzanne would have an affair.

Suzanne didn't tell ANYONE about this affair. Libler did not come forward to LE. Once LE found him, he spoke to them.

Libler asked LE if he was a target in the investigation. A recording of an interview with Libler with LE is about to be heard. The defense attorney wants a lot of time with Walker. Judge is worried about timing.

picture is getting a bit clearer for me. JL's daughter & 1 or 2 of his son's knew something was up and didn't bother to let mom know. JL's brother or brother-in-law also knew but lip was zipped. what comes to mind is a row of little monkeys with hands over mouths but their eyes wide open. so yeah, i remember BM supposedly told cops they should look into SM's boyfriend. this was before it was revealed SM did have a boyfriend. most everybody thought BM was full of crap for saying that. no way in hell BM would have done anything to JL because JL [and his family] set himself up to be the perfect patsy. BM knew this. BM knew JL was a total jerk and could very well be his ticket to beating the rap. why would BM go after JL? speculation and MOO.
