Is there any proof that vaccinated people are unlikely to pass the virus to others ?

The only difference I know of is that the unvaccinated usually get a more severe case or reaction to the virus. But vaccinated people can be asymptomatic and still pass the virus on to others.

The Risk of Vaccinated COVID Transmission Is Not Low

According to the CDC, anyone can spread Omicron (which still seems to be the dominant strain).

Omicron Variant: What You Need to Know

Spread
The Omicron variant spreads more easily than the original virus that causes COVID-19 and the Delta variant. CDC expects that anyone with Omicron infection can spread the virus to others, even if they are vaccinated or don’t have symptoms.

Antihistamines may help resolve long COVID, scientists believe: Treatment discovered by accident | Daily Mail Online

Very interesting article about two people taking antihistamines and getting relief from long-Covid symptoms. These are anecdotal accounts, but it seems worth while to try this for long Covid symptoms. It would be great if at least some people found relief with antihistamines.

That would be really nice. I have a friend that is really struggling and has been for a good year.

In my opinion claims that it's "not designed to prevent infection" are misleading. It kind of suggest that you could design a vaccine to prevent infection but decided not to (for whatever reason).
mRNA vaccines are the state of the art technology, and if they don't prevent infection, it's not because they are specifically designed that way. It's because this is the best we can do at this time.

Seems like it is worth a try!!!! hope it helps your friend

That is exactly why I have not had my hair done for 8 weeks--- Omicron here in Florida is just beginning to decrease but is still spreading- the numbers are not great yet with positivity of 20.8. if the numbers continue to decline however, am thinking in two weeks I may be able to go to the hair salon!!!

Yes. Vaccinated people's nasal immunity system neutralizes the virus. In theory, they can still transmit it, but probably about as well as 10 year old can.

Vaccinated people are safer to be around, are unlikely to produce the viral load needed to infect others, etc.

Which seems to align with what is happening here.

Two good friends have both had Omicron in their family ... a two year old brought it in for one family, a baby brought it in for the other family. (Under 5 years old are unvaccinated here.) They both caught it at their respective childcare centres.

Fortunately, the families (incl children) sailed through it, even though they caught it from their littlest ones, as the rest of them are fully vaxxed.

Looks like if possible it's best to not have babies and toddlers left at child care facilities until this pandemic is over.

How do they know the children passed the virus to the adults and not someone else? We know that being vaccinated doesn't prevent illness or prevent spreading the virus to others. JMO.

The timing of the parents catching the virus aligns with the time their young children caught it and passed it on to them. Being very young, the children still require hugs, picking up, bathing and feeding done by their parents.

The two dads have their own (outdoor) independent businesses - they don't work alongside anyone else. The mums work in some kind of office jobs.

Keeping in mind that we still mask everywhere here, in my state, and socially distance. And our caseload is still relatively low.
We have capacity limits in venues still. We have opened our border but there are still restrictions to keep the hospital cases manageable.

In NSW, the nurses went on strike today and rallied at Parliament House.

They are getting burned out, stressed, working double shifts, and feel underpaid for what they are doing. NSW opened up full slather and dropped their restrictions, upon getting a new Premier. It has been extremely taxing for the nurses, due to the explosion of cases.

Australia news LIVE: NSW COVID cases grow, NSW nurse strike begins

(Of course, they still have a skeleton crew and management attending patients - as told to me by a NSW nurse friend.)

I still don't see why it's not possible the parents caught covid from someone other than their children.

I sure hope they don't convey any feelings to their kids that they are responsible for spreading covid to them and possibly others. JMO.

:D I don't think they are going to "blame" a baby and a 2 year old (or anyone else) for them catching a virus.

The baby and 2 year old won't even know or remember they had the virus. Unless there is a reason to tell them when they are much older.
(My DD passed chickenpox to me when she was 3. She doesn't even know that because I have had no reason to bring it up.)

We are likely all going to get the virus, sooner or later, in one form or another. imo
But now we are protected by a vaccine, so it shouldn't be too bad (I hope). And it wasn't bad, in these families cases.

I was simply telling a personal anecdote that related to what 10ofRods said.

Happy to agree to disagree.

Checking in as Covid impacted restaurant owner in California.
Well, we hit the ball out of the park on this Valentine's Day.
As a Mom and Pop Restaurant owner, we were pretty amazed at the turn-out and response to our place tonight.
We do Old School Cooking. Actually, we do old school everything. Our employees have been with us for decades.
Anyway. Apparently, we've become the talk of the county.
Lots of NEW young people. Families.
Tomorrow, masks are supposed to be off in most of California, except, in Los Angeles.
Nobody tonight was waiting for tomorrow.
My husband and myself, are pretty amazed at what went on tonight.
Everyone was happy. Appreciative and thankful.
Signing out, on my 31st Anniversary of being married to this man and our 31 years of working together in the restaurant business. Kali
