Watch live: Governor issues stay-at-home order through April 13

Lansing — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer issued Monday a "Stay Home, Stay Safe" executive order to stem the spread of coronavirus.

The order requires all Michigan businesses to suspend in-person operations from 12:01 a.m. Tuesday through April 13, unless the operations are part of the "critical infrastructure workforce" or those needed for "minimal basic operations." Schools also will remain closed through April 13...

Federal Government announcement today-

Counterfeit Currency-Coronavirus/US Secret Service

The US Secret Service sent notification that due to the Coronavirus pandemic impacting their ability to address large volumes of incoming counterfeit, all US Dollars users are being asked to refrain from submitting
counterfeit currency at this time.
They are asking us to collect the currency and submit it as a single large batch when the federal government returns to normal operations.
There is an alert on the US Dollars website, once it is removed it will signify the return to normal operations.

GA, NJ, AND LA...WATCH ALERT

I was curious which states were doing a good job testing, so I combined data from @COVID19Tracking with 2019 population estimates.
Washington has tested the highest percentage of its residents, with New York in a close second place.
California is in 36th place

One reason California has done fewer tests is that, like most places, we are only testing symptomatic people who might be headed into hospital. That rate has slowed. We saw fewer cases yesterday than the day before and today is looking good. A couple of counties are not rolling out test kits until things get worse (Fresno may be one of those - or else Fresno has some other problem with testing).

We only had 15000 kits to begin with. There are 40 million of us here. New York was declared a federal emergency and is getting, rightfully, more test kits.

As the first state to go on lockdown, we seem to be avoiding an exponential curve on this, so far. With only 35 deaths and only about a 2% increase in cases so far today, we'll keep a lot of those test kits to use if things turn pear-shaped. We're supposed to be manufacturing our own at some point, I hope, I hope.

In the meantime, we still have hospital beds and are preparing another 10,000 to come on line in the next week or two.

Cuomo points for today:

Stop/slow the spread by:
1)Reduce the density
2)Increase the testing.

*If NYC needs legislation to ensure social distancing, ask for it. Do it.

*Testing 16,000 people per day. Higher positives due to more testing.

*Emergency order to hospitals - increase capacity by 50%. 100% even better.

*Letters to retired healthcare community requesting to enlist to help,
including nurses in insurance business/area.

*NY manufacturers stepping up to the plate, but this is ad hoc.
Creates a bidding war. States competing. Need federal gov't to step
in. It can't just be "Hey who wants to help?..Let me know."

*Some success securing supplies. PPE, masks, gowns, gloves, face
shields..

*Asking FDA for approval for experimental drug. Takes plasma from a person who has been infected. Injects antibodies into infected person. It's only a trial for seriously ill patients.

*13% 0f 20,875 being hospitalized. (Fairly good number in regards
to bed numbers.) 20% of those need ICU.

*There has to be a balance /parallel track that talks about financial aspects. Have to start to think about how and when to restart the economy. "Theory of Risk Stratification" Dr. David Katz

How to plan NY FORWARD

His personal opinion.
*Several months at least. There will be no news tomorrow morning that says "Surprise surprise. This will all be over in 2 weeks."

*It's all unnatural and disorienting for all of us.

*Life is quieter right not...but not chaos. But, you have time to do the timing you always wanted time to do. It's a beautiful gift to be with my daughter for this time...I old not have had this time.

"One door closes/ another door opens."

*Learn from this because we were not ready.

Facts- Many will get the virus. But few are truly in danger. Make peace with it and find a way to help each other.

Socially distanced but spiritually connected.

This is scary': Coronavirus patients in their FORTIES are among those fighting for life in intensive care units

'
These are young people coming in. This is scary and it needs to hit home for people that this is not the common flu,' an ICU worker told The Sydney Morning Herald on the condition of anonymity.

'I don't want to frighten people, because there is a lot of hope, but only if we all take this seriously.'

AMERICUS, Ga. — Members of a church in south Georgia weren't able to pray over sick people in their community in person, so they did the next best thing.

Parishioners from the LifePoint Church in Americus surrounded Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in their cars Saturday night, flashing their lights in solidarity.

Hospital CEO Brandi Lunneborg posted video of the drive-thru prayer chain, thanking churchgoers for their well-wishes during this difficult time.

Gov Cuomo:

Has to be a balance or parallel tracks that talks about economic viability

Have to plan the pivot back to economic functionality - U can't stop the economy forever

Does everyone have to stay out of work?

Should young people go back to work sooner?

Can we test for those who had the virus, resolved and are now immune & can they go back to work?

Theory of Risk Stratification (Yale U, Dr. Katz working on) - Theory says, isolate t vulnerable people; Don't isolate everyone. If isolate everyone, may b actually exposing t more vulnerable

How do you begin to restart the economic engine?

LA, GA and NJ need to test test test as is obvious from this per capita graph. I really like it that more graph folk are moving to per capita graphs.
