Video shows perp walk of security guard accused of murdering Miami woman in her Costa Rica Airbnb | Daily Mail Online

Video shows the moment a security guard accused of murdering a Miami woman at her Airbnb in Costa Rica was taken into custody by local authorities this week.

Officers can be seen escorting 32-year-old Bismark Espinosa Martinez to a police van in handcuffs on Tuesday, the day after the body of Carla Stefaniak, 36, was discovered in San Jose.

Police in Costa Rica have said the mysterious murder was sexually motivated.

Just before she vanished last Tuesday, Stefaniak told a friend in a FaceTime call that she was planning to meet up with the guard to ask him to purchase water because it was storming badly.

I've never seen an AirBnB without bottled water, specially if it is in a country known for tap water hazards that also comes with a kitchen. Sketchy indeed.

That is exactly why I'm wondering why she would ask a security guard to fetch water. There should have been water in the main building kitchen/reception area, and it would be no more dangerous to walk to the main building than it would be to walk to the entrance or around the property to look for a security guard.

Was there even a main kitchen or reception area being the units are separate villas with kitchenettes?

I just can't grasp why she was so violently killed. This sounds weird but during my commute I was thinking about what she must have gone through. I really hope she didn't suffer for a long time but it seems like things are pointing otherwise:( I also agree that she should have had water there! The owners should have kept a mini fridge stocked or something. My Aunt used to travel for her job and when she would visit my city she would stay in different Airbnbs and I loved them! I just think the place she was at was so sketchy.

As with Mollie Tibbetts, she was probably hit first in the head. The stabbing came at the end. The entire incident probably started at about 9PM and lasted less than 45 minutes.

The broken vertebrae most likely happened at the time of moving and half burying the body, especially if several hours passed (to clean up the blood) before she was moved.

"Rigor mortis begins within two to six hours of death, starting with the eyelids, neck, and jaw."

Yes...and who ever heard of a one skillet kitchen?

She was from Venezuela, he was from Nicaragua. They were in Costa Rica. He illegally used a 2 week tourist visa to enter the country, and she was visiting under her USA passport.

The broken vertebrae sound really gruesome, but that probably occurred after rigor mortis set in, after 2 hours. This was most likely a very common MO of hitting a woman in the head, raping and then stabbing. It probably lasted less that 45 minutes.

He then had to clean up the room and get rid of the body. By the time he removed the luggage and body from the room, she was probably in rigor.

Anger...
Frustration...

Like I mentioned earlier, he probably tried at first to go the traditional route ... compliments... flirtation ... and when he finally tried to make his true intentions known, she probably blew him off. Some guys don't take well to being turned down. He flew into a rage ... blow to the head was to stun her... the stabbing was to kill after the fact. Unless he had some sick necro fetish, I can't see him rapping a woman that by this point had blood all over since she was stabbed in the neck and arms.

I've been a guy for almost 45 years of life ... something is wrong with you to first even CONCEIVE of attacking a woman for secs, then being able to somehow still want to sleep with an injured/dying person that you hurt. Like, "Yeah... I got mine... so what it came at the expense of someone else's life!"

I totally agree and this was my first assumption when I learned she had some sort of head injury along with stabbings. I suspect he waited till she turned her back to him and he was ready to grab something and club her over the head and that is when his attack began. He may have basically knocked her out with something then raped her and then stabbed her to death so that she could not ever identify him.

This type of person is an animal and not a human being. A real monster. Its scary to think there are people in the world like him that are capable of doing this to a totally innocent person who was there just trying to enjoy a little vacation. A real sicko.

This sort of monster is what makes the world a worst place because it begins to make us not trust anyone which is really sad because we dont want to be that way but we start to get forced into not trusting our fellow men and woman and that is sad.

Dear Rob774,

Thank you for your insightful post from your perspective as a man. Greatly appreciated!

The reason you can't even "conceive" of this is because you can't think like a "monster" does. Because you aren't a "monster".

We really can't understand because how can we ever understand a person who acts in an evil way? These individuals have evil thoughts and we don't.

It's almost as if these "monsters" who commit such horrid and evil acts are a different species from us. Their thoughts and actions are alien to everything we think and believe.

Seeing Carla's father break down and say "it's too much for us" was almost unbearable to watch.

My heart aches for this family. Carla is so loved by so many people. It's evident how much joy she brought into their lives.

May Carla's loved ones hold one another tight during this unimaginable time.

Rest in Peace, beautiful Carla.
